Thank goodness as it was one of the few times I actually took money off the bookies having got decent odds at christmas time before the WC! As for Lambert, he's one of those players that utilises his skills well, has generally more than one way of playing so will get more goals than most one dimensional strikers (e.g. quick or target man). Having said that, his lack of pace will be found out at both Champ and Prem level, he maybe able to adapt better as he seems to have more footballing nause than most players. I don't think he should be considered for England. If Bent makes the England squad then it will show how few attacking options we have, I would prefer to take an extra attack minded midfielder than waste a space on a one dimensional just about adequate prem striker.

That's a bit of an assumption to say someone is negative from only one aspect of the game mentioned. We can only beat the side put in front of us, I'm glad it was Carlisle as they didn't exploit their dominance in midfield because of a great Saints defensive line with them only have Dobie as a striker threat.

Avram: Pld 25 W 8 (4 in cup) D 4 (1 in cup) L 13 (1 in cup) Adams: Pld 22 W 4 D 7 L 11 Hart: Pld 30 W 9 D 6 L 15 I didn't have time to list cup matches for Adams and Hart, but more or less the same losing about 50% of the time.

I liked the fact he missed their penalty shout with Harding holding back Kavanagh with both arms.

It would have been great to see the cup passed to him and one of the players take the photo.

I think it's the case of this is where we currently are but where do we need to be if Pardew is to be a long standing manager for Saints competing in the Premiership. One step at a time with promotion out of League One the focus. Another consideration is how many of these players will be able to compete in the Championship and finally the Premiership as stability on the playing side also is key to winning more games than losing them.

I thought was close to the Bristol Rovers home game.

Saints 4-1 Carlisle - 2010 JPT Champions - Reaction

Fantastic day out, glad it didn't rain as it looked as if there were quite a few players finding the surface slippery as they kept falling over. What a way to lose my new Wembley stadium cherry with a 4-1 win. On the down side we did too much hoof ball with a weak midfield. Carlisle had some good moments but fortunately didn't have a player to unlock our defense. We took our chances and also shut them out until the end when it was really all over. Harding was great considering he was out of position, in fact all players played their part but disappointed with Mills as he played too much hoof ball. -
I heard boos, but there were plenty coming for each set of fans in the build up. The biggest boos were for the Carlisle fans for not carrying on the mexican wave!

You missed out f*cking hilarious, considering the SoA was produced a few months ago, how is it possible that another ~£20m of debt is found? Have they suddenly been deluged in claims or did Vantis miss something? I can see more points deductions coming their way.

I was told citrus fruit was good to keep cats away - how true it is I don't know, although having a garden full of rotting fruit will not be nice to look at!

My parents have these detectors that emit a noise that cats don't like - it does work as they're had them for years without having to pick up cat mess. I can't remember what they are called but the principle is the same as the Mosquito device for pesky kids.

Went years ago with a group of lads as part of a footy tour in the winter (added to the solemn eeriness to the place) and stayed in Krakow. Take some tissues - an incredible place, hardly a dry eye in the group.

Yes, and the probability of doing so is growing every day there are no takers. Chainrai will need to make a decision soon and I expect that will depend on talks with Sacha Gaydamak (assuming he is). As SG is the largest unsecured creditor at around 50%, he is the key player in all this as he has the land surrounding the ground, including the skates office. Whether the "new" owner can strike a deal with him backing an approved CVA for pittence in the pound and the land is bought at an inflated price, I can see the skates getting out of this dirty great big hole. I would imagine they would still be in a mess financially as the footballing debt has to be paid in full (~£10m) and if Chainrai remains the owner he wants a profit for his troubles. Although being able to turn a £60m debt into something like a £6m + £12m for the land (so SG gets £15m) would be advantageous when there are parachute payments (2x£16m) plus player sales (£10m-£15m) to come over the next two seasons. So the questions are: How much is SG wanting for his approval of a CVA (assuming another 25% agree with him) and the land? How much money does Chainrai want to either squeeze out of the club as owner or as a secured creditor? I've probably missed a few bits and pieces as it's difficult to keep up on this thread and do work but that is my take on a possible outcome!

lol at the last line, "...we are already negotiating to sell one player to the Middle East, although not for a great deal of money."

Anyone have any spare tickets for Wembley?

Not sure if this has been seen or how genuine but this is just on, selling 2 tickets: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A65450423 -
You're missed the points that Norwich could integrate all those new players and get to top of the league in one season, even with an early change in stewardship from Gunn to Lambert.

For me, sometimes I have check my euphoria of how the team have played on the pitch considering what has happen this season at the club, especially when you see such fantastic performances (Huddersfield, Leeds, Walsall etc) that they will not be the norm. However, expectations are there due to the expensive squad building process. It may take a bit longer than first thought but there are examples that success can be made from adversity given the right choice a club makes: If you think about what has happen to Swindon, where they lost their top striker in the summer and they only brought in a few defensive replacements. The squad as a whole was stable and has got them in the play-offs with an astute manager. On the other hand, Norwich made wholesale changes in the summer to their playing squad and sacked their manager early on, not the best for stability but they are now leading the division. There's no point dwelling on the failures if it only provides frustration and additional pressure. As long as some benefit can be made from what went wrong, the club, team and fans need to move on.

The same for Leeds where the CVA was agreed by 75.1% of creditors but then disputed by HMRC, the FL voted on whether Leeds should get points deduction for joining the League anyway, hence why Leeds went to the courts saying the punishment wasn't due. What is different now to then is the recent FL rules introduced this month where clubs need to show they have the financies in place to complete the season ahead.

Income: foreign TV payment: £5m PL prize money: £2m fa cup prize (minus pl bonus): £1m Next season's parachute (minus int): £13m Tickets sales: £1m ST sales: £3.5m Out goings: salaries/month: £4m (should drop with player sales and out of contract players after June) monthly running costs: £0.5m admin charges: £1.5m extras (hotels, coaches etc): £1m Ignoring the costs of buying the club, up to June before players can be sold they would be £1.5m in credit with season ticket money ring fenced and potential player sales to come. So they need to sell players to finance a season in the CCC or find a buyer. To buy the club: min £40m Ground + players: £12m (min to chainrai) Gaydamak (if a secure creditor): £15m min Footballing debts: £7m unsecured creditor share out: £6m All sums done on the back of a napkin mind and I'm sure there are plenty who would dispute the above figures.

Lets have a Plan B just in case, so he's smarter than Storrie! Is AA holding out until the summer for player sales to beginning? As it's a World Cup year, transfers generally occur later than normal but I think this is when the money will run out. Assuming he gets the £5m (foreign TV due in May) and £16m (early parachute payments) income but he cannot recoup anything like he wants from the player sales to keep the club going so pop go the skates.

I saw £32m (two payments of £16m) in a guardian article. There were plans to reschedule over another season or two but I haven't seen anything definite. Link isn't well written as I thought a rule that was ratified in a season cannot be used in the same season: http://www.tribalfootball.com/likes-portsmouth-gain-improved-parachute-payments-almost-%C2%A350m-700771
