  1. “What do you want me to do, throw myself off a 20-storey building? If they said me going would make the team win, I would be gone in a minute,” manager Mauricio Pellegrino said after his Leganés team lost the derby against Getafe, leaving them stuck on the bottom of the table without a win all season and him on the edge.
  2. Wow! Is that two seasons worth of transfer budget blown on one player, and not a very good one at that. He’s a league one/two clogger.
  3. It’s ok, his money is safe now and even a deal will not hinder the investment returning a good wedge.
  4. Brentford seem to do ok on a small budget. I think it shows if the scouting process is good, players can be found that don’t take tens of millions to buy.
  5. Not sure where this goes, a search didn’t help! Article on the youngster Harley Willard who Saints let go after his first contract... https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/oct/08/harley-willard-next-generation-guardian-southampton-iceland Surprised there was no support from the club, or at least none stated in the article. It seems the agent wasn’t great either!
  6. We’re only won 15 of our last 61 home leagues games. I wouldn’t like to guess how bad the goals for column would be either.
  7. The latest from RH on Che Adams: Ralph Hasenhuttl insists he has not lost faith in summer signing Che Adams, who he dropped for last week’s defeat at the hands of Tottenham. The striker, who was bought from Birmingham for a reported £15m, started each of Saints’ opening six Premier League games but has yet to score. “It was clear that I wanted to give him one time a rest,” said Hasenhuttl. “I think a break can sometimes help, even if you like him are always looking for scoring and it doesn’t work. “He showed this week that he is in better condition now, clearer in the mind and he can be an option for Sunday. It’s important that you stay on working and believe in yourself. I try to help him as much as I can - give him a lot of trust and still trust him. I’m sure that he will help us in the future and games will come that he will score.”
  8. It may not be easy for Chelsea but as you’ve highlighted we only got one point for our troubles against those three.
  9. It will continue to be so.
  10. I think it will be 22/23 October. Half term week.
  11. The resources will rival ours if you are talking about money to spend. They have spent it more wisely and able to get a better return on it.
  12. Thomas Cook owed £1.5bn at the end of 2011 after asking £200m from its lenders. Since then the directors have received at least £20m in bonuses, while debt had risen by at least another £200m. A nice gig for the directors while the 9,000 staff have to find new employment and worry about their pension pot.
  13. It’s something we have suffered for the past three seasons. No leading goal scorer and it has a big impact as goals haven’t been taken up elsewhere. We’ve only won 15 games out of the last 60 home games! I don’t expect Adams to suddenly fill that role having not played at this level before. At least his attitude seems to be good and hopefully he can get the goal that can drag the team to play better and not be shy in front of goal.
  14. Yep, that is why you can get some really bad political candidates as MPs. My MP doesn’t live in the constituency and has always voted with the government. Hasn’t represented views of constituents for either education (lowest funded) or Brexit (remain). Talking about votes in parliament, hasn’t Swinson got a bad record considering her liberal stance?
  15. Ok if you have sky. What streams are best and safe?
  16. A truly great supporter of Saints. RIP Leon
  17. He does a few great touches/passes/runs a match which negates the bad stuff it seems. Henderson gets credit for running around a lot and playing for Liverpool. Not sure about Rice, perhaps too early to tell but haven’t seen anything of international quality. The midfield got dominated most of the game.
  18. Unfortunately there is no credible opposition with Corbyn too left wing and flip flopping all over the place, he’ll still lose to this incompetent rabble currently in charge whenever the election is likely to be.
  19. So plenty of rest and no injuries to players but lack of match fitness?
  20. I’m sure there will plenty of added time!
  21. Do you know who owns Gigg Lane and any covenants on it?
  22. They could go before the 12th. Head of the supporters group puts saving the club at 50/50.
  23. Greed and owner/recruitment incompetence are the main reasons for any club being liquidated. When Blackwell was manager of Bury for the start of 13/14 season, the recruitment was so disorganised trying to get players in and although no fees paid, salaries were too high considering the number of players recruited. I’m only surprised the club lasted this long.
  24. Unfortunately both owners are money grabbing ****s. Phoenix clubs would be the best bet, but then it would be highly likely the new clubs couldn’t afford to buy the grounds. Weak governance from the football league and their rules for the golden share hasn’t helped.
  25. Agree. If Martial is out, that is a benefit as he’s one that has performed well. They are not the force they once were and our guys should want the chance to beat United.
