  1. Willi Wood joined Accrington Stanley.
  2. You’re been spending too much time on the skate thread... back away before you believe other portsmyths.
  3. It would be nice if they could get some first team game time somewhere even if not at Saints. After all if the purpose of the academy is to raise money from sales, clubs need to know what they are getting!
  4. It does seem odd at first but when you start to investigate a bit further it can make sense. It’s very much down to mental well-being of the individual and you’ll find examples of those that have had a trauma being drawn or have a connection to the very thing that has caused them pain: rape victim - promiscuous behaviour, alcoholic parents - binge drinking. This shouldn’t be taken as a general association for all but an individual case assessment as there could be other important influential factors.
  5. I think that has been on the table for many a season without any evidence of actually happening. All talk, no action - it’s the Southampton way.
  6. Lol. Good one.
  7. BA or BSc? Could be either depending on the modules chosen with financial aspects or activities not adding up to consider.
  8. We’ve seen it’s more about the character of the person than the stats of the team when it comes to management. It will be interesting to see now Saints have turned on the exit club pathway whether it has an impact on the calibre of player interested in the club and joins.
  9. Well said. As a RK was a coach, he should have never been happy to sit back and not realise what was happening with Pellegrino. Did he not raise questions with Reed? Anyway. Didn’t learn from the Puel mistake and got lucky this time. He and Reed need to learn as the club cannot afford a repeat of their mistakes.
  10. I cannot see many departures on top of those players who’s contract will expire next month. As the summer transfer window for PL teams close on the 8th August, Reed cannot dither with regards to the manager appointment and any player recruitment.
  11. I don't know when all this occurred, if Hughes was there for some of it, but this is from the Guardian regarding Stoke players: Jesé – whose brilliant season-opening, match-winning debut against Arsenal predated months of mediocrity or complete invisibility – disappeared after being allowed to go back to Spain to care for his sick son, whose mother then accused him on Instagram of skipping hospital and spending time instead in a Madrid nightclub, “smoking, drinking and [enjoying the company of another woman] in the bathroom”. Goalless Saido Berahino arrived late for an Under-23 game and was fined and relegated to the reserves. Erik Pieters was fined two weeks’ wages for ignoring a club curfew to go to a nightclub the night before a match. Ibrahim Afellay’s attitude in training was so dismal Paul Lambert told him to stop turning up. After Stoke’s relegation was confirmed Jack Butland said their transfer dealings had been “farcical”, while Charlie Adam said “some players have been getting away with murder for a long time”. The cumulative effect of these stories was to suggest that part of the squad had experienced a total breakdown in discipline, while the remainder watched them and simmered with resentment.Future employers will want to consider this period of their careers very carefully, assuming they – unlike Stoke, it seems – do any due diligence at all. I think it highlights that unless the club is moneyed to buy known talent or winning there will be problems with so many large egos around regardless of manager and club. I wouldn't mind if Hughes does continue for the next couple of seasons at least we know what to expect.
  12. A match day thread with no nuns! That must be a first of the season.
  13. It all depends if the manager ‘blueprint’ is thrown away for the PL experience which Hughes has. The idea of an up and coming Manager (like Julian Nagelsmann) but with a personality (unlike Puel) that players can respect and a tactical ideology (unlike Pellegrino) players understand and buy into. I don’t know if there are any managers in the Championship or League One of that ilk - as there seems to be a media black hole below the PL, but perhaps Hannes Wolf or Sandro Schwarz who are just starting out could be future stars in the game.
  14. Depends if the clubs and Hughes’ aspirations and ways of working match or if they think getting some one in like Julian Nagelsmann now would be better considering the current squad, the fabled pathway and whatever ever transfer budget there is to bring players in.
  15. They still need to win to get the record for the most away wins in the season. But they have got the most goals after the Brighton game and 100 points is still a target. Not sure about the most clean sheets.
  16. Impressive stuff. Vocals are good in my mind, a bit tinny occasionally. I’ll share the link around. Good luck!
  17. I wonder if they were worried something might happen which they couldn’t control?
  18. I just hope we are lucky enough to get the win at Swansea and not get tonked by City.
  19. They have been awful last six games, now seven. Basically since they got themselves out of trouble they have changed tact to defend the points gap but it hasn’t worked for them. Hopefully they will continue to be in disarray.
  20. I wonder if the club will get a small windfall if Liverpool win the big cup with agreements in place for VvD, Manè and possibly the others?
  21. What about the trend? The players obviously had enough of Puel’s actions, got fed up and did not perform. Unfortunately Pellegrino didn’t have enough about him to redress these issues and it all went tïts up along with the transfer policy. I’m sure some of the Leicester players have had a chat with ours, it’s only remains to see if those players are the ones out of the club anyway.
  22. Meanwhile on planet earth, Saints are four points from safety and likely to be relegated.
  23. Should have sacked him at that point in time if that was his conclusion.
  24. As someone involved in audits and QMS, the systems are as only as good as the people owning them. I’d be interested to know if Gao has changed things so that the directors can no longer control what they used to be able to do, or got lucky first time.
  25. It’s still raining and will be for quite a while longer.
