Leicester winning now.

We will not stick to a system, the idea is to be flexible to counter or cause problems on how the opposition set up. we don’t have enough high quality players (yet) to deliver on a particular system, this is one of many reasons why Ralph moved away from his favoured 4-2-2-2 and wanted to play a back five for more defensive protection. expect to see a number of systems being deployed in the game, this is the fluidity Jones was referring to in one of his last interviews. Also seems one of the reasons why it’s taking time to settle and the ‘pre-season’ didn’t seem to be effective with lack of game time the key.

Yes…. A win! Away! At Goodson!
-
Nice to win it but after the Man City game I’m thinking as long as we have enough games to get points the opposition doesn’t matter too much. Only that the team continues to improve we have a chance.

To clarify, Law of averages does not exist and regression to the mean is a bias when dealing with repeated data so not something to take ‘advantage’ of.
-
There isn’t a law of averages and regression to the mean is a characteristic when sampling or taking repeated data and there is a possible bias caused rather than an observed change. The bias can be reduced or eliminated through study design and the correct statistical methodology.

How would you like to be buggered sir… with a fish fork?
-
Just need to point out there isn’t a law of averages. So it makes your argument invalid on that point. Brentford may have followed similar principles but certainly with less risk and gung-ho nature. A guy that knows about risk is Tony Bloom and his strategy for a middling PL club is working out well. They have a great scouting network to regions that are not heavily exploited by PL clubs, player and staff succession planning and he knows how to maximise player value. Obviously not all players work out, but Brighton work with data to increase the likelihood of a favourable outcome. I don’t know what they do on the behaviour side but would love to find out. However, footballers being human rather than just a set of numbers mean playing football manager in place of the real thing is plain nuts. Data can only be trusted as much as the process used to collect them and used with caution in going beyond it.

But didn't Ralph have a good calendar year before that? Anyway, the summer was the point to either back him or sack him and they did neither.
-
Like driving a car, when you first drive you are consciously incompetent and you go through varies stages until you are unconsciously competent and it becomes second nature.

I hope the fans start using this depreciating humour rather than booing. It’s time they started enjoying themselves having gone to the game. Besides, Hard to boo a shower of shit of a team with a clueless manager in charge.
-
And ball watching.
-
Hoping for a reaction. A glimmer that the players are willing to give it go. Nothing to lose. Less pressure playing away etc etc.
-
Is there a bigger issue at Stoke as it seems other managers have struggled? As far as NJ goes, it seems he’s the type that cannot shake the second hand car salesman aura to become a coach to lead elite players.
-
Nope. Hence the fine and suspended ban. The PL make rules for PL clubs to follow in line with the governing body, the FA. Clubs need to comply with them, therefore the onus is with the club to show compliance. Same thing happens when HMRC, MHRA, HSE, etc investigate.
-
No. They ask the questions as part of the investigation. Having evidence to support the process was followed (I.e. no wrongdoing) helps answer the questions.
-
The ban is more of a deterrent and I’m sure to reoffend the ban will not be suspended and be for longer period. The club better get their paperwork in order if they say they didn’t breach the rules but cannot provide evidence.

As the saying goes most people use statistics like a drunk man uses a lamppost; more for support than illumination.

Two weeks is a long time when only six to work with. Perhaps it shows how much information there is to go through and the potential changes to come. I hear the Miami trip is off so at least the journey time and jet lag is saved.

We shouldn’t have any billy big boot players - not lying 18th in the table and the drive to sell any player that have achieved anything of note the past few seasons. So should not be anything for Jones to deal with. Jones may tick many of the analytical boxes but there is more to coaching than a computer saying ‘Yes’. We’ll probably never know what other characteristics they consider. Have SR already sounded out higher calibre managers who have said no?
-
Maybe that will come later when teams of the championship and below have been given a chance to have the right structures in place, just like the League two with the national league below in the mens game.
-
That was MkI, this newer version has a dose of disdain.

A scrappy win.
-
It is a dislocation. Hard to predict how long. hopeful Lavia will be back at start of this November.

Joe Shields leaving? What the hell is happening???

It’s knowing the why rather than what was on offer which will gives us a clue to what is happening at SFC.
