I wonder if RH knows Mislintat from his time in the Bundesliga? It would be a helluva coup if Saints can pull off something major like this.

Derby isn’t that far. [emoji12]

Stephens had an injury in training, collided with someone and hurt his knee. Expected to be back in a couple of weeks, perhaps earlier.

Reasonable assessment but missing the detail... https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/dec/03/southampton-surer-footings-loss-of-step-mark-hughes-sacked-third-manager

Maybe if Hughes employed a good defensive coach he would be still here. At Stoke, he was lucky with the players, having been drilled by Pulis. Hughes just adjusted for a bit of attacking flair and got some decent additions to complement what he was given. As soon as the defenders needed changing due to old legs it went to pot.

He’s mates with Pep Guardiola. That’s good enough for me!

So who will replace Ross and Les?

Southampton have the worst differential (+7.37) between their actual goals scored (10) and their xG (17.37) next are Palace (+6.15). In short, it’s the players that need to get the ball in the onion bag!

Sticking with a draw as United need a win and we will play counterattacking football with Obafemi the speedster supported by Redmond and Moi on the flanks. Keep it tighter at the back with the same back four as Leicester game for consistency. Lem-Hoj-Rom midfield for a 4-3-3 which is the Southampton way and played in all our teams. May even nick this one and put pressure on Mourinho to lose his job. . . . It’s good to be free!

‘...finalising their future model around the first team manager’ Oh shìt, we are in trouble.
-
Have you seen how bad it is at the bottom to pick up points? I wouldn’t be surprised if a 34 points haul would survive.
-
They’ve had a kind set of fixtures so far. Let’s see what the next four bring. IIRC, Howe is careful on who and how many new faces he brings into the club not wanting to disrupt the team harmony which he values as an important aspect.

From the guardian... extract of the Saints first team players from every PL club: Southampton Guido Carrillo, 27, Leganés Arguably the worst piece of business in Premier League history, Saints’ £19m club-record signing was shipped out on loan this summer after failing to find the net in 10 appearances. Reunited with Mauricio Pellegrino, he has scored against both Madrid clubs in La Liga this season. Harrison Reed, 23, Blackburn Rovers Another Championship stint beckoned after failing to break into the first-team group this summer. Has shone for Tony Mowbray’s side after playing regularly at Norwich City last season. Jordy Clasie, 27, Feyenoord Signed by Ronald Koeman on a five-year contract in 2015, the Dutchman continues to impress abroad. Helped Club Brugge to the Belgian title in 2018 and has made 11 Eredivisie appearances this season. Josh Sims, 21, Reading The forward shone on his Premier League debut against Everton, but slowly fell out of the first-team picture after injury. Has struggled to cement a starting berth in the Championship. Ryan Seager, 22, Telstar Prolific at youth level, the striker’s long-term future looks set to be away from Saints after making his Premier League debut in 2015. Has scored two goals this season. Sam McQueen, 23, Middlesbrough The talented wing-back was heavily involved during pre-season at Saints before linking up with Tony Pulis’s side. Made six appearances before rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Crystal Palace. Sofiane Boufal, 25, Celta Vigo Once the club’s £16m record signing, a move away became inevitable after falling out with Mark Hughes last season. Has scored two goals in 10 games and has been in and out of the Morocco squad. Ben Fisher

Paul Mitchell set for Saints return...

That’s a shame, I was looking forward to the World Cup hero Clive Woodward coming back to finish his job. He’d fit right in. -
Expect a draw for this one and bizarrely a draw against United.
-
Is this some kind of false recalibration? Good sides don’t sit on eight points from twelve games just above the relegation zone. But there again what else is he going to say?
-
Martin Hunter - technical director also gone.

Even accounting for a drop in wage due selling players and potential rise from other teams, the wage bill will be around £100m and around the 11th place mark.

What we need to do in the short term, to fix the first team
Doctoroncall replied to benjii's topic in The Saints
No one is saying to change the whole team for kids. What gave you that idea? Plus we know Gallagher’s history of what he has had to deal with and the unlikely case he’ll make it in the PL... not some random player with 17 goals in 3 years. -
Hesketh and Flannigan join Burton Albion on loan
Doctoroncall replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
It wouldn’t be an easy game, not with our mental frailty. I’d still expect a win. -
Haven’t the club said there is always a potential list of managers and players. Just a shame that it stops there.
-
Really? Do you have a time frame?
-
Hoping for a draw and a point earned against a well drill side who like to play attacking football with a never give in attitude.

I see an unemployed Arsène Wenger is touting himself as available to manage again. [emoji54]
