There is more to a manager/coaching position than technical ability which someone else can cover in the interview process. Which actually makes the appointment worse as it was his non footballing attributes which caused the horror show.
-
But Evatt is a shareholder of the company which owns Bolton. Although only a minority owner, not sure if he’d want a move to another team with having a deep relationship with a rival club. Better players will certainly help Martin looking at how Swansea have performed this season and hopefully as you say Martin is becoming adaptable in his tactical approach - always other ways to beat the opposition if plan A isn’t working out.
-
I think we do the faffing around at the back very well, it’s the move forward we are shit at. If the next manager can help resolve that, would you be happier?
-
Seems happy with the project and Ipswich have backers wanting PL football
-
You missed my point, in general terms, there is a correlation on teams possession with position in the table. It’s more pronounced the further up the leagues. No idea how good RM is, too early in his career but we don’t have time to find out.
-
Why not set Burnley as your baseline, then no team has more! Ball possession in Championship
-
Yes it’s what you do with the ball that matters and having a goal scorer considerably helps, citing Leicester, a counter attacking team for that season isn’t a reason to discount possession based tactics as generally teams with more possession are more likely to win.
-
I think finding someone who has managed in the PL is going to be extremely hard and will discount many possible candidates. For me, it is essential to focus on the qualities of the manager/coach beyond the technical capabilities they have - after all they will have the UEFA pro licence. It’s the suitability elements like temperament, leadership, aptitude, versatility, etc which are the important differential elements to judge those for the role, rather than eligibility aspects which only look good on paper.
-
It doesn’t even touch on the internal state of affairs with cliques and dropping standards. I do wonder if Rasmus is somehow on the spectrum - he doesn’t see or require emotional connection, social aspects. Which are just as important as technical elements. Otherwise he’s a one trick pony and is not as smart as he thinks he is. The chase with Jones was so far off from what was required. As the reporter put it ‘lacking the temperament, persona or credibility’ which isn’t a typical data point!

Well there is always his no2 who took over from Slot, Pascal Jansen. He wants to come over to England at some point. Probably too early in his managerial career, but one to watch.
-
So different from last time. A combination of older and wiser but also a disconnect to the PL franchise as that is what it feels like now. Hypo raised a good point about the mindset of Semmens at the fans forum and that is why I’m fearful of next season. It will not be a promotion challenge if lessons haven’t been learned at board level regarding club strategy, mindset and player management. Also, Hopefully there are B team players that have earned a call up to the first team rather than seeking pastures new. About the ‘pathway’ was open.

There are already interested parties so let’s see what happens.

He’s willing to stay even when we go down.

End of season awards night and lap of appreciation
Doctoroncall replied to Paul Chuckle's topic in The Saints
Mostly owned by one man so not really a fair competition. -
Playing catch up from four seasons of under investment was never easy and to then focus on young up and coming players is always high risk strategy as we are finding out. It seems SR are not worried about relegation and the recruitment strategy will remain the focus. But I would have thought it would have been a better learning environment to have a Leno, Mee and a Romeu (or replacement) to help integrate the younger players to the harsh reality of the PL.
-
Why the rush? He’s not exactly going anywhere. I think with this limited squad and certain players out, he selected the right players in the correct formation. Let’s see if he can get the players to repeat the performance especially when he has all the squad to choose from. Signs are positive and we’re getting an identity back in the team.

Head injury to Chelsea player Azpilicueta

Red card!

goal!

Not a lot it seems, excuses, needs time, more excuses etc it seems like they can’t or don’t register Nathan’s lack of personal skills or what they would call emotional intelligence!

Can you complete your sentence with what season you’re talking about. Thanks.

Poll: how do you think our League season will end?
Doctoroncall replied to SNSUN's topic in The Saints
This is Nathan’s crusade, to lead the Saints to salvation and away from the damnation of relegation! -
It just seems that they are in for the long term (for now) which hast altered their strategy with the team being in the relegation zone. If we are relegated, I cannot see the approach changing, obviously we will lose key players but if finances are not an issue they don’t need to go cheaply at least and there could be potential for young players to perform well at that level eg Tella, Obafemi, and others prior to the past couple of seasons. But again, as long as there are some experienced players in the squad.

Lampard has been fired. Let’s see who they bring considering their FFP restrictions.
