  1. ‘...finalising their future model around the first team manager’ Oh shìt, we are in trouble.
  2. Have you seen how bad it is at the bottom to pick up points? I wouldn’t be surprised if a 34 points haul would survive.
  3. They’ve had a kind set of fixtures so far. Let’s see what the next four bring. IIRC, Howe is careful on who and how many new faces he brings into the club not wanting to disrupt the team harmony which he values as an important aspect.
  4. From the guardian... extract of the Saints first team players from every PL club: Southampton Guido Carrillo, 27, Leganés Arguably the worst piece of business in Premier League history, Saints’ £19m club-record signing was shipped out on loan this summer after failing to find the net in 10 appearances. Reunited with Mauricio Pellegrino, he has scored against both Madrid clubs in La Liga this season. Harrison Reed, 23, Blackburn Rovers Another Championship stint beckoned after failing to break into the first-team group this summer. Has shone for Tony Mowbray’s side after playing regularly at Norwich City last season. Jordy Clasie, 27, Feyenoord Signed by Ronald Koeman on a five-year contract in 2015, the Dutchman continues to impress abroad. Helped Club Brugge to the Belgian title in 2018 and has made 11 Eredivisie appearances this season. Josh Sims, 21, Reading The forward shone on his Premier League debut against Everton, but slowly fell out of the first-team picture after injury. Has struggled to cement a starting berth in the Championship. Ryan Seager, 22, Telstar Prolific at youth level, the striker’s long-term future looks set to be away from Saints after making his Premier League debut in 2015. Has scored two goals this season. Sam McQueen, 23, Middlesbrough The talented wing-back was heavily involved during pre-season at Saints before linking up with Tony Pulis’s side. Made six appearances before rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Crystal Palace. Sofiane Boufal, 25, Celta Vigo Once the club’s £16m record signing, a move away became inevitable after falling out with Mark Hughes last season. Has scored two goals in 10 games and has been in and out of the Morocco squad. Ben Fisher
  5. That’s a shame, I was looking forward to the World Cup hero Clive Woodward coming back to finish his job. He’d fit right in.
  6. Expect a draw for this one and bizarrely a draw against United.
  7. Is this some kind of false recalibration? Good sides don’t sit on eight points from twelve games just above the relegation zone. But there again what else is he going to say?
  8. Martin Hunter - technical director also gone.
  9. It seems statues are difficult to make life like: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/nov/05/mohamed-salah-statue-mocked-by-fans-as-striker-gets-ronaldo-treatment
  10. Even accounting for a drop in wage due selling players and potential rise from other teams, the wage bill will be around £100m and around the 11th place mark.
  11. No one is saying to change the whole team for kids. What gave you that idea? Plus we know Gallagher’s history of what he has had to deal with and the unlikely case he’ll make it in the PL... not some random player with 17 goals in 3 years.
  12. It wouldn’t be an easy game, not with our mental frailty. I’d still expect a win.
  13. Haven’t the club said there is always a potential list of managers and players. Just a shame that it stops there.
  14. Really? Do you have a time frame?
  15. Hoping for a draw and a point earned against a well drill side who like to play attacking football with a never give in attitude.
  16. I see an unemployed Arsène Wenger is touting himself as available to manage again. [emoji54]
  17. He’s still rolling out the excuses and the “yeah but” rather than owning his mistakes and getting on with trying to be better. I wonder how much help he’s had from clubs or if clubs have left him to resolves his obvious mental issues.
  18. If the team continue to not pick up a point over the next couple of months I cannot see Hughes surviving. However, if the team bumble along picking up the odd result but nothing to indicate an upward trend, I can see Hughes lasting till the end of the season. The board have shown the desire to give the manager time even when its apparent its not working. It seems only relegation will bring change unfortunately and it’ll be touch and go again this season. Watford had a great start but I wouldn’t discount them being in a relegation scrap now they are finding it hard to score.... only if we do pick up results of course.
  19. Is that not the standard formation used at all levels in the club except the first team?
  20. Law of averages is bad statistics or wishful thinking rather than any mathematical principle. In terms you can understand... it’s bollôcks. Stop using it.
  21. I’m pretty sure it would have changed. The management decided to back the players rather than the manager and look what happened sticking with the players. Puel stripped the team back to basics and got us hard to defeat, some players were unhappy about it and it showed. I’m pretty sure he would have improved team performance, probably slowly, and had more U23s playing with the pathway re-opened. His Nice side was fantastic, playing an attractive passing attacking style football. Let’s see how he evolves his Leicester side. If we want to play the blame game then it’s the management team > coaching > players. None are blameless.
  22. Two out of 10. One more than last season thanks to a bit more attacking intent and signing of Ings. Shaky defence and a vanishing midfield still the worry regarding relegation potential.
  23. With an electronic bug in one of the items!
  24. No one should ever settle for mediocrity. Otherwise one day you’ll end up short.
  25. I think this just shows where the club is right now, very much a middling club, nothing special anymore after the excitement of promotion and not being scared to ‘have ago’ and challenge other teams to being more established and always selling the best players. To compound it, there is no more exciting talent coming through or being given a chance, the same with the manager.
