Liverpool vs Saints - EFL Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg - Match Thread
Doctoroncall replied to Dalek2003's topic in The Saints
4 minutes of extra time. -
He solidified the pool defence last season and the doping ban is an non issue. Just have to get him interested in playing again.
-
Looking forward to changes 188-195 against Leicester (the 33rd game of the season). Oh and a win.
-
The boos are going to hit him hard.
-
I cannot imagine the self styled owners of the club relaxing one bit, their passion will be brimming to the top as they back the players 110% in their usual high standards of support Hod carriers around the region can stand easy.

Cannot think of any, perhaps Sam Hamman with Wimbledon and plough lane, then he did something similar with Cardiff. Also what Bates did with Leeds, the chairman of Walsall has claimed the ground too. As long as you run the club well and then following examples above if you separate the club from the ground you can make money with rent and loans. In the PL there are riches to be had in the assets. If the glaziers sell their Man Utd shares, they would significantly increase their investment. Look at us, not a bad return if Kat does sell. It can of course go wrong, but that would be down to poor business decisions rather than anything else.

Same.

So two draws means a great chance to go through. Get ready for defence minded games with low scores.

Expectations at the start of the season for the playing side were 9th in the league and European football after Christmas. Any domestic cup run is a bonus, depending on the luck of the draw. As for the club, I expected to see more academy players in the first team playing a part which has happened. The disappointing aspect is losing our identity in playing style. There was a big fan fare in the introduction of the Southampton Way which included a style of play which was entertaining and individual to us. I feel we've moved far away from this to be back in the pack and hope it can be put back on track in the second half of the season. The coaches need to get it together a bit more. Glad to see Ryan Seager back playing and scoring.

Would love to have a copy!

Without any evidence given to support either view, what made you come to the conclusion above? Can we compete with Leicester on wages? What would it do to our debt/surplus balance for the length of the player contracts? How would it impact on money for future purchases, investment in infrastructure and cash flow? What impact would it make on the current strategy? It's all a bit of a silly argument without using any financial data.

Thanks for the critique DM, I Haven't had the opportunity to read it yet, only print it for when I can.

It's strange that this piece of research is making the news now... http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0034731 I wonder if Saints supplement the visual analytics effort with design fluency work. If you aren't interested in the research paper above, here is the sanitised interpretation: https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/dec/04/barcelona-andres-iniesta-scope-embrace-brain-game-real-madrid Of course this is only one paper so how valid a measure is still questionable and open to interpretation. If anyone has more information please add.

Keep up the cooking comedy. Sevilla are probably close to us in what we do as a club. It's called the cycle of attraction and it's a decent strategy to take. The choices as I see it are operate like a stoke/wba/Swansea and enjoy mid table with a bit of fluctuation in league position. Wait on Lady Luck to deliver a cup run. or... Buy the talent with potential and increase the chances of doing well in the league and cups knowing each year some players will be sold. Also, the academy has and will continue to be a long standing source of first team players unlike most PL teams.

Plus time added on.

Cheeky bügger!
-
A reasonable set of fixtures for December should see them mount a challenge to be top on their own what with the resources they have at their disposal and fortress fratton. The manager and squad can take the pressure of expectation square on with unity, tactical know how and focus in their tool kit.

Zero hits, perhaps you can help?

Europa League 2016/2017 (Died 8/12/2016)
Doctoroncall replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
Foot injury apparently. -
That's why we have invested millions in the set up we have and continue to invest as well as having a defined strategy, to lower the risk of pulling the trigger with a bullet in the chamber. Do you really think it's a pin in a book of names approach as to which player to purchase?
-
It's nice to have a different comedy angle in this thread.
-
You've come to the wrong place for that... why not amuse yourself on Alpine's latest run like a seaside B&B thread and tick off the Saintsweb bingo phrases, participants and trolls! Everyone's a winner (except the club obviously).
-
You are not alone. It is one issue that is consistent under different coaches, players and tactics, so it seems hard to solve. Most teams don't have a main striker anymore, it's now an attacking trio who press, create and score.

Don't laugh, that was his best shot.
