The only action that will stop the negative view is signing some good players in the positions needed.

This.

I would give the club a call, you never know you maybe able to get something special. I met and had a chat with MLT when I went down there for the first time! Of course it might be all different now.

BBC Article - The inside story of the great Southampton sell-off
Doctoroncall replied to Donatello's topic in The Saints
There was a bad influence and a small clique formed at the lodge where the students didn't train or study as they should. Around the time Nile Ranger was there I believe, there was a bit of a clear out IIRC! -
I thought it was the Manager... ?

Reports (Guardian, DT) are that there is a buy out clause (£10m - which seems expensive). I think it's good signing especially with Mat coming through and getting a few PL games and cup games to gain experience. If he does well then make permanent at the end of the season. The position that does need a good quality signing is CB, so happy to save the money for that position now the club are a sustainability no debt route.

Actually, I wonder how long he will be at the club. It's easy to come out with these statements if he's not here next week.

It's the Love of money which is the root of all evil.

Left wing, fullback or wingback so would fit in with RK's tactics. Played county level and have one FA cup appearance! Only one issue, I'd only be able last about 20 minutes.

Southampton supporters need a reality check, says Kevin Davies

It would be great to keep the team but thinking the club are now going for the sustainability model from now on, so it means player sales. It's been good to watch the youngster come through and compete at the highest level. It means the conveyor belt will continue to produce top talent as kids will see it as a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop, play PL footy and to then go to a big club who can pay them thousands and offer European football. Maybe one season we'll be able to start keeping them for longer having earn so much and be more competitive because of it! -
It's a get out clause, I have trousers which say dry clean and have washed on a 30 degree machine wash for years and they have been fine, they only wear out a little bit quicker but certainly worth it.

Or, just think how many saints and ex-saints you can have in your fantasy football team now!

I didn't know this... Shaw earning a basic wage of £100,000 a week at United, making the 19-year-old the highest paid teenager in the world. From a guardian article... http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jul/26/louis-van-gaal-to-speak-with-jose-mourinho-over-luke-shaw puts things in perspective on who Saints can retain. Hopefully in a couple of years time, the big five will not have space in their squad to buy anymore of our youngsters and we can keep them for a bit!

Do we have one of the top 5 best academies in Europe?
Doctoroncall replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
Doh! Thanks MLG The main point still stands that it's hard to judge without knowing how many have 'made it' through the ranks at other clubs, I wouldn't know if Porto is any good, whereas I know Feyenoord has received national recognition at producing and playing their own. -

Doctoroncall replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
It would be hard to judge unless you know about the academies around the world, not just in Europe. Also, would Bayern be a top five candidate? what are the criteria - number of players that get a contract with a club. I think the club can boast a very good academy. -
It keeps him away from killing himself?

And my prediction will change if players leave and inferior ones join, I think the style and tactics of RK will lead to more goals but currently I think we'll do fine.

Good to see Mayuka get a run out, perhaps he can be used for decoy runs and making space! McQueen showed promise.

What's that coming over the hill? Is it a monster? Is it a monster? No just Pompey! And as is traditional, I must say, this is a great page

It's probably something to do with gases rising up and mixing with the salts and water in the earth that are now ice-free and BOOM!
