I know this was said a while ago but Mills played a blinder against ipswich and probably deserved to keep his place in the team. If he is not doing as well now then he has played himself out of the shirt and no doubt it will be hardings before too long. Most of the changes seem to have been out of being cup tied or injurys. When we got a load of defenders in I was suprised to see so many start but when we keep shipping goals I suppose it shouldnt have been so suprising. Maybe it would have done us better if we had been knocked out of the cups? Less to concentrate on and more time to organise the team. This does seem to be a turning point though, the whole team, including the management need to get the basics sorted and work as a solid unit. No interest in excuses and results matter more than anything. i am happier about the saints this season than I have been for years but can see the point that we are on the verge of something great and a touch of ruthlesness is not out of order IMO.

Ive been wearing my shirt in Torquay and been asked if its a Sunderland or Exeter shirt by some old lady. Cause of her age I let her off a damb good thrashing and just imagined pushing her down some stairs instead. FWIW changing the kit for 1 season IMO is a good idea and going back to the original kit is even better. If we were changing the kit every year I wouldnt be happy and would join any campaign to get us back to red and white stripes but FFS its 1 season and its still our kit. Its not like we are copying Poopy's kit or something.

I need 3 tickets if there are still any going. Ive not tried to get them via Exeter yet but will do so tomorrow if there are none available here. I live in Torquay so will have to meet at Exeter if thats OK?

Would it be better to just rename 2 sections to be the Milton and Archers?

almost a pointless survey. Yes its a good idea to move them and yes the home fans will move to be near them. Only gives you a chance to give your opinion if you disagree with wanting them moved. FWIW I dont think they should have half of 1 end and should be pushed more into a corner saving the better seats for us.

Going on what I have so far seen of ML and NC I doubt very much that we are paying over the odds on players wages. Yes the squad is big but its half full of the low paid youth setup that we were left with before ML turned up. The other half are from the top players in this league mixed with good CCC players that are probably on league 1 pay and contracts that suit them better the higher up the leagues we go. I think ML will be subsidising us a little but I would be suprised if we are spunking money all over the place on the basis that we might get back to the prem one day and become a profitable business.

He is doing very well down here. Since he came into the team they have been doing much better and pulled out of the relegation spots. No disrispect to Torquay but he is too good for that level. Maybe he looks good in a low league 2 team or maybe he needs to step up? Think its a good thing for him to stay till the end of the season. Papers down here the other day said he had gone back for talks with Pards. I guess the idea of him playing 1st team football is better for all parties. I would imagine him to be loaned to a low level league 1 team next season with Pards deciding if he has a place with us or not soon after. All of this should have happened a while ago so he was ready for a crack at our 1st team now. 1 year set back shouldnt be too much for him to handle though.

Will the extra fingers be a help or a hinderance to there drawing abilitys? :s

I dont understand how they can be so much in the crap and still not be in administration though. We were no-where near the state they are now in and the bank pulled the plug and we went into admin the same day. Is it because they are in the prem and the FA are keeping the banks off there back as they dont want a prem club to fall? Or is there enough proof to suggest there is money tucked away somewhere by this arab market stall owner and its just a case of releasing it? To answer the question though, I dont want them to go pop or if they do I would like them to come back as a new club some how. Just look at the excitement the FA cup draw has created to see how much derby matches mean to us. With them gone our derby match would be with bornmouth which doesnt carry the same level of interest. Nice to see them suffer and will be much better when we are back on top but would be a shame to see them gone.

You dont rate james but for some reason Pards does. Its been repoted a few times how much he praises him. The reaction he gave James when he subbed him on sat suggested that he was very pleased with him and I believe he is part of Pards plans for a long time to come. Personally I think the team we have can be and should be better than they are now. 1 or 2 more signings would be useful but at some point I think it would be wise to concentrate on getting this team performing to the best of there ability which is higher than they are doing now. If they can do that then they should be able to hold there own in the CCC and the need for new players then will be to see us progress further. The big test will be to see if Pards can get them playing as I think they can. We know WGS got the team playing better than we thought they could so Pards should be able to raise the standard. At times on Sat we were hoofing and being run ragged. But pards got them playing there game after half time and I thought we deserved the result. If he can get that game more consitent then this team can do very well IMO. -
I nearly crashed the ar when I heard, I was on the way home from a weekend in Southampton and my other halfs mum phoned thinking we might get drawn against her team West Brom. When she said she got Reading I didnt know how many were left in but knew it could be our derby. Went mental and woke up all the kids in the back when she said lol. Cant wait for this one and I bet every single poopy player let out a little "oh no" when they knew they would be facing our boys. Not for the fact that we may be a better team but because it would mean so much more to them if they lose. We are in a win win situation as even if we lose we are still on the up and will soon be passing them. If we win however it will be a massive blow to them and there 3 supporters. I bet the training ground is buzzing today and I hope the players are all busting a nut to be a part of this game and the future of SFC!

Another Saints Manager gets new job in Premier League
saintjay77 replied to John B's topic in The Saints
Fair points. Every manager starts somewhere and if some of the appointments from within had worked out we would have looked back at our history of building from within from top to bottom with pride. They didnt though and with hindsight we look like a joke on more than one to many occasions. I think our leader at the time had some nice ideas but didnt have the vision or ability to pick the right people at crucial times. As coaches Gray and Wigley found other jobs and are still at a higher level than we are right now so well done and good luck to them. -
I got no problem wearing it for any other game but I wanted to go and watch this game and enjoy it. But if thats the only way I will get a seat then so be it. lol

If I cant get tickets in the normal way I may have to dress up as a friggin penguin so I can get a free ticket ffs! one of the places I support has some sponsership deal with Exeter. Stand around handing out flyers or dress up as the penguin and feck about. (wondering if I can get away with wearing a saints shirt over the penguin suit lol) Would rather get a seat with my family and enjoy the game though.

Lucky to have a club to support, A new owner that is spending money on the whole club, Winning more than losing, A realistic view that we are heading back to the prem in a relativly short term plan, No Lowe, No Wilde, No Crouch, How ever high we finish this season I will take as a bonus, and if we reach the play-offs then fantastic, but I just want the team to be built and to learn how to win and defend this season. If we are still in league 1 next season then I can accept it but will be disapointed if we are then not pushing for automatic promotion. The team has been stripped, rebuilt, stripped and rebuilt again in half a season and I wouldnt be suprised to see more comings and goings so to expect them to automatically win everything is harsh. Errors will happen, its how they react to those errors that counts.

So we pay our TV Licence fee for BBC and then have to pay to get it via saints player? takes the pish some what IMO.

Maybe the reports on Seaborne are there to push the ward deal through. Isnt Ward a Saints fan? If so surly as a Saints fan he might want to be involved in our march back up the leagues so this may push him to not hold out for a better deal or maybe agree to a longer deal or something? Maybe Cov are stalling and will now be made to think that if we go elsewheree they will still be stuck with a player they dont play? Maybe the rumours are there because we are now one of the richer clubs in the land and will just get linked with everyone if we are looking or not? I cant see anyone snapping up Thomas, Perry or Olly on anything other than loans and maybe the powers that be have realised that if they want a stronger defence then they will have to pay for up to 7 defenders until some contracts run out. Seems like a mad business decision but this 1st ear will no doubt be a steep learning curve for ML and NC so im sure we can expect some mistakes along the way. I just hope they are genuine ones and not ones of madness.

Its great that we are signing players and building a strong team for this league but I have been wondering how many players we have will be good enough to stay in our team if we manage a couple of back to back promotions. Would we have a brand new team and if so what players would we have or would it be much the same as now but with a few prem additions?
-
I think as soon as we got taken over our targets should have been the play offs but I dont think anyone should be too put out if we dont make it this year. Realistic target from takeover should IMO be in the CCC by the end of next season. Any earlier is prefered but to be considered a bonus. The pressure would definately be high should we not make it this year as next year jobs would surley be on the line.

if he hasnt been paid by palace by then his contract says he can walk away on a free transfer. Puts him in a better position to negotiate better wages.
