  1. **** me - if true, he'll do nicely
  2. As i said a team shouldn't keep players on simply out of a sense of loyalty/sentiment/whatever. A debate what makes players choose to move clubs is quite different.
  3. You're twisting what some of us are saying - sentiment is no reason to keep someone who simply isn't good enough for the standard we are now playing. I'd be delighted if dean stepped up and held his own in the prem but based on his performances last season (against the better teams) i just can't see it.
  4. he's back up at best and just about cut it last season - some people also need to drop the sentimental rubbish. the club spirit goes way beyond the first 11 and i've no doubt nige etc will quickly integrate the new lads.
  5. hansen was right though, for our club of our size and struggling as we did most seasons he was a bit like sparkly icing on a pretty rubbish cake
  6. MLT is right, just an unfortunate choice of words or maybe he was mis-quoted. Rooney had a terrible tournament.. as did Milner.. as did Young. It was the perfect oppty to give the younger lads a bigger run out BUT I still think did pretty considering all the difficulties in our preparation. Roy is a good manager and far better than people give him credit for - perhaps he simply didn't have too mnay other options. Having said that I'm sure Lambert would have put some of the headers away!
  7. Why? I've often bought a new pair of jeans whilst wearing an old pair
  8. my 9 year old son, who is usually very enthusiastic about everything saints, hates it - thinks the away should be the home kit. His first comments were "we're not all red" awful, cheap, non-descript, liverpool c.'84
  9. The away kit with slightly thicker stripes would have been better. Don't mind the shirt but to put it with red shorts and socks just isn't us - they have effectively changed the clubs colours. Reminds me of some non-descript kit you can get from any team supplier. Also sharps tweet saying they'll get used to it is hardly a ringing endorsement from the players.
  10. Didn't the team used to run out to a slightly disco version of it (circa 2003) We certainly need to reclaim it as ours
  11. last 7 games look very winnable
  12. I'm sure if he didn't like it, he wouldn't go to events like this - his role for SFC is as much about PR as it is running the team and he seems to embrace it. You seem to have put quite a po-faced spin on what was meant to be an upbeat post.
  13. always liked him, a good honest striker, puts it about a bit and so will do well at palace - good for them and good for him
  14. They will struggle in the prem as a CM pairing - we need a quality CM to play alongside one of them.
  15. This type of focus on other home nations and Ireland has always been this way, I can't believe you suddenly feel this is a new thing. Politically and culturally we are very close (I'm assuming here you have a little understanding of the history between us and them) and as someone rightly pointed out, there are stacks of irish descendants among us. Yes it is another country but how many other foreign lands can you get into with your work ID?? If it bothers you that much don't watch their games OR if just be more adult about it and don't let it bother you.
  16. read the papers, listen to the news... it's been well covered.
  17. Rather stay up with a bit of gamesmanship, if thats what it takes, than occupy the morale high ground and go down honourably - but I wouldn't like to see our players wave cards at the ref and roll around like they've been shot etc.
  18. does his knee want to stay in burnley?
  19. 60k is good value but not sure if there are enough big organisations in the area that would be in the market for them
  20. Screw nostalgia and sentiment, we should pick the best 11 - if we start with last seasons 11 we'll get ripped apart
  21. all statements from celtics perspective and quite matter of fact - they are worried
  22. relying on our academy would be suicide, we need to upgrade the team - i'll let adkins and co worry about introducing the youth but the priority has to be establishing ourselves as a strong premier league side.
  23. west ham - bigger club and way more deserving than any other play off team as finished so far ahead of the others. Also, i've met fat sam and he's not a bad bloke. Holloway on the other hand is a complete kok
  24. Agree with this - even though they hadn't had a great start I think this was seen as a good test of our progress. We came from behind as well with RL topping off with a hatrick. Ipswich away must have made a few raise their eyebrows
  25. agree - was a weird thing to say in the context of what he'd just achieved. also the handshake between him and NC looked fairly cold. But i hope to hell he's given a chance next season.
