  1. eh?
  2. can't think of a single away game where they couldn't wear their yellow kit.....bit like us and that marketing managers wet dream of our white kit last year, they have to wear it at some point
  3. the only reason adam johnson would get picked is he used to play for man city and has had a few good games...as opposed to lallana who has been a revelation this season and been gradually getting more brilliant with each season. johnson it is then
  4. Merson was waxing lyrical (as much as his limited vocab allows him) about us on Soccer Saturday - he loved all our goals and after seeing them on that clip I can see why love it
  5. He never wanted to be here - go back to the shot of him holding his shirt when he joined, looks like a man thinking "what the **** am I doing" arrogant T0sser anyone who models themselves on jack sparrow should be kept well away from
  6. Truth is nobody knows, all those smiles could be hiding lots of things. Mopo looks very relaxed, like a man with little pressure which is what always happens when you know you're leaving your job.......or it could be that the departure of NC's authoritarian regime has affected him to. What if KL has given him a big fat new offer with loads of money? What if NC and some of the other execs were on the take, KL got suspicious, asked for greater visibility and NC did a runner. I guess we'll have to wait until the fat lady sings!
  7. Redknapp and Woodward were both right as managing a team is a blend of intuition and science - not exclusively one or the other. If they had had greater respect for each others relative strengths then we may have done far better that season. All water under the bridge now though.
  8. As many of us have been saying for ages, we need a striker who puts chances away - JRod isn't the man, Lambert seems to have lost it and who knows about Dani. It's not just the number of chances we create its the quality of them, we should have been 4 up before they got their first. JRod is often far too casual when he needs to just bury it. Oue possession and build up play deserves so many more goals.
  9. Good teams make their own luck and its about time we had some, although i don't think he meant to pass to AL - more likely was going for a 1-2 with RL to then put a cross in.....but who cares, we won ffs
  10. I don't think so, depends on the context; Southampton are without a clean sheet in five home league matches, having kept four in a row in September and October. SO WE MANAGE ABOUT 50% CLEAN SHEETS AT HOME, NOT TOO BAD Despite their reputation as a neat passing team, statistically they play more long balls per game (an average of 70) than any other side in the Premier League. HOW DO OUR SHORT PASSES COMPARE, DON'T WE HAVE ONE OF THE HIGHEST COMPLETION %? Their players have been caught offside 63 times this season, more than other side. BECAUSE WE PLAY LOTS OF ATTACKING FOOTBALL? Adam Lallana has been dispossessed 48 times this campaign, more than any other player in the division, while Jay Rodriguez has lost the ball due to a poor touch more times (52) than any other. LALLANA'S GAME IS CENTRED AROUND RUNNING AT DEFENCES SO NO SURPRISE WITH THAT J-ROD - MMM, OK MAYBE SO AND HIS FINAL BALL ISN'T GREAT AND PERHAPS HE SHOULD BE SCORING MORE GOALS FOR THE NUMBER OF DECENT CHANCES HE GETS BUT HE'S STILL SCORED 9 GOALS HALF WAY THROUGH THE SEASON SO SHOULD FINISH ON HIGH TEENS....MORE THAN LAMBERT LAST YEAR

  12. ramirez was a bit of a passenger and the players around him had to work harder, no wonder they were knackered. he still seems off the pace and can't tackle - reminds me of le tissier without the end product.
  13. their attack will keep us busy today, think it might be a disappointing start to the new year
  14. some of you are a right bunch of pussies - have you ever played team sport?? if one of your team mates is having a bad game you tell them to sort it out or get them taken off. any senior player is perfectly entitled to share his views with the captain. its not a charity event for christ sake. you can't have one or two players letting the rest down with poor concentration or effort - jos is in the former camp, he's always only a few seconds away from a major screw up. if i was lambert i would have done the same, in fact i would have given jos a bollocking to his face - any dickhead with an ounce of talent could have cleared that ball into row z
  15. what's up with shaw?
  16. lemela, adebayor and soldado will be helping themselves - think we will have a tough afternoon
  17. We are going to get a right humping today
  18. expensive bit part player BUT i was talking to an ex chelsea player recently and he said the transition from serie a to the prem is tough as the game is so different so maybe he'll start to come good in the next couple of months....i hope so, we need a ruthless goal scorer....and maybe injuries haven't helped
  19. delgado all over again
  20. we made a decent side look clueless in the first half and only slightly better in the second......and not for the first time this season. bbc stats say they had 40% possession - i'm amazed it was that much. brilliant 3rd and thoroughly deserved love the way pundits go on about how well we may or may not do against arsenal and chelsea as being a real test, are the 4 pts we've taken off liverpool and man u not enough??
  21. i bloody hope not, don't we always lose the next game?
  22. crap draw
  23. i reckon two of each giving us 8 points from those fixtures and 16 overall - although we're so unpredictable those results could be placed anywhere
  24. 1 definitely the 80s - entertaining football, lots of characters, lots of goals and the club over achieved 2 this decade 3 00's, the early years 90s were terrible, awful kits, a different manager virtually every season, branfoot and annual relegation battles. The odd moment of brilliance from MLT although (and dare i say it) when he had a bad game, it was really bad but we tend to forget that
  25. his poor passing, slight cluelessness and ponderous tempo remind me of hammond in the championship (admittedly the hammers game was the first time i saw him properly) a mate of mine saw us play at norwich and thought it was hilarious we paid 12.5m for him
