When would you have pulled the trigger on Pellegrino?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
Tempted after Burnley but by Leicester certainly. -
The only reason I can see he's still here is the board don't want to pay off another contract by firing him & having to admit to another dud appointment. Clearly, the hope is luck will somehow save us & they'd rather us go down than admit to another costly error.

This was on the BBC deadline day feed earlier. Disappointing if we don't now get Promes; sounds like he was actually quite keen to come, despite our league position.
-
If we met a contractual release clause, how can Spartak refuse to sell?
-
Agreed. Be interesting to know where in the world Promes is right now. Whether he's somewhere within easy reach of the UK, if something does go forward, or preparing for Spartak's match today.
-
So, will it be just the one in, if we can get a fee sorted with Spartak, or will tomorrow herald a surprise addition, as well as or instead of Promes? Will there be a pre-game unveiling of a new superstar or a post game panic buy, if we've messed up against a relegation rival again. Or should we expect "a quiet day at St Mary's" leading to disappointment and derision from the masses? Not long now to find out...
-
Les is probably haggling over the exchange rate...
-
Imagine the scenes on here if Everton got Walcott AND Promes...
-
They'll need time to bed in before being really effective. By half time on Saturday should probably do it...
-
Don't suppose you've got any snippets on Promesy to share whilst you're here?
-
Comedy gold! So, according to this, we don't want to pay what they're asking & he thinks we're too sh1t anyway. Plan B time? Reminds me of Zlatan's comments in his autobiography.
-
Welcome Guido. Really hope your Saints career is a successful one. Word of warning: we're expecting you to be the Argentinian Harry Kane, just not as thick.
-
Just need him to post that his head is in Southampton and it's as good as done...
-
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. So that would be hawking him out to one of 17 other clubs??

Could this be the catalyst for Promes to then head elsewhere? Maybe even us? You can imagine the hilarious Scouse banter now, if signing Markovic allows Promes to come to SMS...
-
Exactly. Rather than parading new signings around the pitch on deadline day, when they can have no influence on the game against Brighton, how about getting them in a bit earlier, so they can help do something about our poor performance??
-
I reckon it was Les and Ralph testing the water to see if the fanbase were still excited about potential new signings. If there was no excitement or interest, they could happily park transfers for January and concentrate on securing our small club status.
-
Must be a technical issue. Nothing released yet. I mean, if it's not a technical issue, what else could be causing the hold up??
-
I've been lucky enough to be passed a snippet of Les' press release ahead of the 3pm announcement: "Mauricio has decided he's taken us as far as he can and has stepped down. As Marco Silva happened to be walking by St Mary's at the time, we've offered him the role of manager, which he's accepted. Here are the 3 new signings we'd held back so Mauricio couldn't train their abilities out of them."

Good. That's this afternoon's work priorities sorted out now. F5, F5, F5, F5...

Current players who remind you of former players
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to Nordic Saint's topic in The Saints
Nathan Redmond reminds me of Thierry Henry. Uncanny really. -
I guess even if he was playing in a friendly today, the club could still be talking to his agent. Come on Promesy, you know it makes sense!
-
Well, given Promes played in a friendly in Dubai earlier today, I’d give it a few hours...
-
Source? Well someone had to ask...
-
I suspect even Pellegrino doesn't want to get his hopes up knowing Les is in charge of negotiations...
