Bizarre. Such a valuable, neat and tidy little player, I can't see why we don't want to keep him on board. Clearly, if we bring in Clasie then he slips further down the pecking order but, if not, he offers good insurance if we do lose Morgan (& maybe even big Vic too). I just hope the board aren't kidding themselves they can hold on to Morgan beyond the end of the season and are willing to let Cork go as a result. Has there been another such situation where the fans are desperate to retain a player but successive managers have not (unlike the situation where fans want to retain a player but the player himself wants out, of which there have been many!).

A winnable game, IMO, particularly with them having gone to pens and lost last night. A goal for Pelle yesterday will hopefully do him the world of good and a win could give the team that extra bit of confidence, even if it was only against a Championship side fielding some reserves. Will also be interesting to see if we have any additional personnel on board before the game too...

Following our sixth & seventh new arrivals today, it made me wonder whether the general consensus amongst our fans was a) we now have a stronger squad than at the end of last season, b) it's still weaker than at the end of last season or c) about the same. Mods, any chance of a poll?

If Pelle is going to be first pick centre forward then whoever comes in will need to provide competition initially from the bench. Clearly Long may be that option, if he's the man RK wants to do that job. A Huntelaar type won't do that and Pelle hasn't signed to do that. Long offers a different lone front man option - pace & guile rather than height & strength - or a good player to play alongside Pelle.

To undertake a medical surely a fee must've been agreed and maybe even terms with the player? Else why bother getting to the medical stage?
