One blessing is that they didn't have a lot of the squad on longer contracts. Whether that's through self imposed limits, or league limits, at least they didn't get carried away there. There can be a major clear out, without too many baggage players. One of the articles said VA's budget was quite substantial for the league, as it was. With the focus on "Frenchfying" it, perhaps they've seen that a cohesive, lower budget squad could work pit better than a team of strangers. If SR can add a few definite stand outs, who could be playing above, then all the better. Attracting them is an ask though.

If anything, admittedly with some hindsight, SR gave it too long. Don't be too sure that things won't be laid at his door. There's a lot of squad building and gelling to be done to pick up the pieces. There may be more things behind the scenes to reverse or realign. That's a lot to do with what's happened, diverting the resources of those coming in.

So, you can be feted by media, and have wins under your belt, and have a well earned philosophy that produces results. After this, it gets harder. And the media shift attention to the next manager further down who is getting wins under their belt. We're just really thick, falling for it time after time.

Can't be. MLG looks down on "entry level" video scouts (while telling us about his own freelance scouting). MLG has his sights set on being an academy teacher, despite not being able to count to 2, and being wrong in nearly every discussion he gets involved in.

Yeah. Lots of possible moves. Bednerak had interest, THB could easily go if our price is met, and ABK could hopefully be sold/get a loan fee for. Stephens is fine to be a squad player, who gets plenty of Championship minutes, if not a starter. I'd not be extending the contract until we see how things pan out though.

Be sure not to show them your posts on here at interview. You'd not want football knowledge stopping you working with SR. 🙂

Thanks for that. It's a results business, and it's been...well, you'll have your own adjective to use to describe it. Another reminder of SR's lurching approach between ideas. One thing is an utter failure, but let's "frenchify" it. As the article says, there's lots of change over the summer, so getting this stuff aligned quickly in the background, can only be a good thing.

I hope so too. Obviously, we'd have more comfort in that, if we knew how extensive his software engineering background, vital for SR hires, was. 🙂 Still, he ticks the 777 box.

The next 2 dozen posts were MLG arguing that, since Cooper was in charge, it's unfair to say he didn't keep them up. Another 2 dozen counter posts pointed out the trajectory of the club, it's goals and push back against Cooper. It all ends badly, and Lighthouse has to put it in the Lounge. So, I thought I'd spare everyone the pain.

Yesterday, it was @lambtiss and @miserableoldgit that were looking to be added to an ignore list. Last week there was a list of several others. Today, there could be more volunteers. Do you know what the entry level (which you describe this as) salary is for a video scouts? Entry level software engineer at his previous employer is over 40k (source: first result in search). You'd leverage experience to push that up to a more realistic starting grade of approx 45k. Possibly, as discussed with prior video scouts hires, they may have other income streams to make up the deficit. Speaking of which, would you be adding stats for RDF Tactics into FM?
