  1. I'm assuming you're joking...yeah of course you are [video=youtube;m5ybcVs8N-g]
  2. Looks like a good possibility we may be offered more yet, they've only sold 13k to home fans up to now.
  3. To be fair, I don't think many believe it'll be easy, wouldn't expect anything less than a battle at this stage of the cup but you have to accept there'll be optimism. We're playing well (under par at Villa), second in the country playing a side 2 divisions below, let's be honest, we should edge it. But life ain't always like that. I like Bramall Lane, modernised but still the feel of a traditional ground, it will be a top atmosphere, all the ingredients for a feisty cup tie. Good luck with getting out of L1...I always liked Tony Currie back in the day!
  4. Dear 'highpeakblade' (I see you're watching) don't take it to heart I ain't "stirring", you've just quoted a fan's suggestion as fact, looked like you knew something we didn't Good luck to you lot for getting out of L1, look what happened to us. Looking forward to visiing up to Sheffield again, make sure the pubs stock up.
  5. http://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/big-turn-out-on-the-cards-from-saints-fans.37076/ "Apparently the club are to give non season ticket holders a guaranteed home Semi Final ticket should they beat us as well which is more incentive for them to travel up." That's probably news to Saints fans...has anyone seen that, looks like he's making it up as he goes along! Should do tho', no mean feat for a midweek 400-mile round trip a few days before the festivities, 'er indoors' stocking will be a little less full this year!
  6. Be interesting to hear where have you got this info from as it doesn't normally get out these days. I guess it's also pay-on-the-night so bit of an unknown quantity. I know it was cheaper and not on TV but most probably wouldn't have expected a near two and half thousand to make the long midweek trip to Stoke for a League Cup game. Other than the big 4 or 5 clubs (or local teams) I don't think many would get close to selling this out on a Monday night live game at £41 a pop...that's before the cost of 300 mile travel. I'd say the only other clubs that would take strong support in the circumstances would be Newcastle, spurs, West Ham, Everton and Leeds. Our away numbers are OK, sometimes excellent but with long trips coming up at Burnley, a full allocation at Arsenal and good numbers travelling up to Sheffield, this is one expensive trip some will understandably give a swerve.
  7. It's because they charge all fans in that stand £41, probably why they moved aways round to the side so they can fleece them. Tbf, it's a better view than the old end section and I believe we're charging their fans the same.
  8. This myth was invented by a skate fanzine back in the 80s, in reality it's a mirror opposite to the actual recorded facts as pointed out. There's also the Townsend Thoresen dispute where Southampton dockers went out on strike and TT pulled out and the scab skates welcomed them with open arms. If anyone's "scum" it's the p*rtsmyth scabs.
  9. Careful, that's plucky little p*mpey's traditional nickname.
  10. Look rallyboy, they're waving!
  11. [video=youtube;i9nnnM-__JQ]
  12. Very good England show, the mark of Southampton all over it with current and ex Saints, don't know who'll be more p*ssed off, the jocks or the skates?
  13. Bit of a faux pas, I think it said you were both over for the Stoke game...but looks like you had a good trip. Nice one, come again, we don't knock 8 into too often!
  14. Makes sense, he'll at least be used to Celtic Park http://talksport.com/football/hodgson-drops-england-no1-hart-scotland-clash-141115124744 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/11604978._/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2836145/Joe-Hart-miss-Scotland-clash-Roy-Hodgson-gives-England-No-1-break-releasing-keeper-squad.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
  15. Yeah, how football coverage has changed. The goal 'roar' on Solent and the anticipation for which local match it was coming from. The only commentaries in the 70s/80s were found on, I think, Radio 2. No 5 Live back then and they used a different commentator for the first and second halves. I don't know if my memory's playing tricks but did they only commentate on the second half before that? I miss Sports night midweek, MOTD covering Division 2 games, we were on a quite a bit mid-70s, and the only live games being the cup final, that made it special and the World Cup when it sounded like the David Coleman was commentating down the phone. Somehow added to the magic and seemed so far from home. Still, it don't get much better than right now as a Saints fan.
  16. Some good aerial shots of old Southampton here. http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/asearch?search=southampton
  17. Shocking grammar.....meant to add, it's good to see it's also £15 for our ST holders, same as them.
  18. Probably always was 'initial allocation', their only selling tickets to home fans in the three other stands.
  19. ...to be more precise, under 8000, they let in 500 servicemen for free. Must have been like old times like when they used to open the gates to thousands of servicemen to help fill their ground back in 40s/50s.
  20. I'd agree with most of that other than giving Clyne 6, that's harsh IMO, both fullbacks had very good games and then your last comment "crowd superb". It really must be about were you sit at St Mary's because from my seat I thought it was as bad as at any time this season. Dead south of the halfway line and hardly stirring stuff from the Northam. Even the constant slow rendition of OWTS is getting a bit tedious. Our fansjust don't put the opposition under any pressure, where's the roar gone in football grounds these days? Other than that, good summary and another fantastic result.
  21. Sold out. They didn't last long. http://mobile.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/tickets-arsenal-vs-southampton-03122014-2028498.aspx
  22. They should be more flexible, they obviously knew they'd get a number of home games televised. It's a rip off, it's clubs like Villa that are killing the game for fans.
  23. Probably not a problem but Saints' OS saying the cash turnstile is 45 while Stoke's OS says 46. http://www.stokecityfc.com/news/article/cash-turnstiles-for-capital-one-cup-clash-2044573.aspx
