It's over a 400-mile round trip. Do believe we'd have sold out a full allocation tho. That's a very good point and don't get me wrong, I agree with what you say, I also believe it is a misjudgement. The trouble is the club are obviously seeing it differently for some reason or other from the fans.
-
The problem with that, for the club, is if we take the full allocation and then don't sell them all it's SFC that has to cover the cost. Financially it's better to just take a smaller number they're guaranteed to sell - just not so good for the fans that miss out. I would imagine the powers that be at SMS would rather fans save their money and spend it on home games where the club will benefit, they make nothing from away league games. Don't get me wrong, I want to see Saints fans travelling in great numbers like we have been in recent years but I just think the club see it differently and when you play the likes of Norwich and Liverpool, where demand outstrips supply, and they put pressure on to keep more seats for their own home fans then we seem to take the easy option.

...or to keep it topical... "When he scores a goal, we all Rock'n'Roll"

I'm going for the 70s one some of us used for Peter Osgood... "Oh, Oh, Oh, Ossss...sie, Ossss...sie, I'd walk a million miles for one of your goals, Oh, Ossss...sie!" ...not the best example but the Jocks do it pretty well

Spot the fan who was just about to collect his windfall on a nil-nil.

For Virgin users, Sky2 is free today (Channel 123) including the Leeds/Sheff Wed and Swansea/Mancs games. A good feed from the Hawthorns and that's a lazy day sorted.

I can remember, back in the early 80s, playing Sunderland last game of the season at the Dell. At the end of the game we were on the pitch stood in front of them having a bit of 'Banter' and the 'Mackems' actually chanting "Geordie, Geordie...". I think 'Mackems' came along a bit later like 'Smoggies'.

Damn...I was just dusting off that old 70s Peter Osgood chant... "Oh, Oh, Oh, Os...sie, OS...ssie, I'd walk a million miles for one of your goals, Oh, Os...sie!"

Girbraltar, should we bring Spanish possessions
alehouseboys replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Lounge
There's an obvious solution to all this. They give up claims to Gib and in return we gift them portsea island. The Spanish get a bit of unwanted space with a community that's very different to everyone else on the mainland, the Navy solve the problem of which of their dockyards to close and the rest of us can keep going on holiday. Everyone's a winner. -
...and also enlighten him of the fact that in reality the bluefew actually struggled to sell 25,000 FA Cup Final tickets after they went on general sale. Thick deluded skates.

It seems attitudes to friendlies has changed a fair bit in Southampton over the last few years. They were usually well attended in the past, particularly the early years at SMS (as were reserve fixtures) but now I think they're just seen as overpriced training sessions. £20 on the day for this was crazy (although Spurs charged that and got a full house against Espanyol and that was live on TV), Norwich charged £15 and pulled in over 14k against RS during the week. Any more than a tenner is taking the p*ss out of fans for these type of games imo...not that I can remember the last friendly I attended tbh.

In a weeks time they'll be a number of wristslitters on here claiming "our support is sh*t" we will then go on and sell-out and it will all go quiet until the next away when the scenario will be repeated. Saints fans traditionally leave it late.

"...but the player in any case wants a team where he is certain to play in order to not lose his chances at the 2014 World Cup..." Hopefully no club would "guarantee" a first team appearance regardless, if he couldn't settle away from Brazil or in the league he ends up, that could prove a bit of a bugger.

I occasionally have a flick round other Saints sites including the UI and I'd agree with this but when you consider the number that post on there then, percentage wise, I'm sure there's far more that slag NA. Not much difference really, it's more Mainboard/Lounge/Muppet Show combined but on a much smaller scale, a couple of token skates, just surprising it is so quiet as you don't have to pay a fiver for unlimited posts.

If it does I can't see it being many. This is one of my fav away days since first going in the 70s and usually take good numbers. Always liked the stadium, looks bigger than it is, just a smaller main stand. 2 good 'ends', they were crackers back in the day when they were terracing and can be a very good atmosphere, particularly back then. Good pubs, decent grub around the ground and a good one to get to. Reckon we'll shift the full allocation with little bother.

Man Utd were obviously ahead of the game back in the 60s, look what they done to a young Bobby Charlton... Luckily for John Dempsey the Chelsea lot never messed with his lucious locks...

I believe at Saints a new player has to stand up and sing a song in front of the team to be accepted into the fold. In MP's Argentina they do it a little differently... http://www.givemesport.com/361036-is-this-the-worst-haircut-in-football-history Time to hide the clippers?

Tbf they're probably just getting their own back because it was said the same thing happened when the fartton end was rebuilt and some Southampton contractors said they'd done the same thing with a Saints shirt in their 'Victory Lounge', afterall the skate shirt under the SMS centre spot proved to be a fantasy. What I find more disturbing is the thick, dirty, pikey appears to have 'relieved' himself over the shirt before hanging it up. Disgusting.
