Dear Nicola, I think I've sussed the culprit who brought the flask in and passed it to the one known as 'mirrorcarp'. As soon as I know more I'll be in touch...

We want José Fonte in the Portuguese National Team!

My money's on Bearsy. -
Or 'alcohol-free' Sloe Gin If they took away a £600 ST for this 'offence' then the world's gone crazy. A warning, although ridiculous, would suffice.

They must have felt right at home with that badge.

There's your answer.

Now I'm all for everyone (that wants to) standing at football but I believe at Anfield if you're sat in the back few rows of the visitors section you really can't see anything if fans stand up because of the overhang of the tier above so it probably was just procedure. I think it's more a disgrace that Liverpool can charge what they do for those seats knowing that. People do stand at football.

That's the only time I've seen us get any result up there...that and his other one down the road in '84 are 2 of the sweetest goals I've seen on my travels.

That's not the best comparison, Channon wasn't exactly a Saints 'fan' and wasn't from Southampton, or even Hampshire. Bridgey's a better one, he did the right thing. Now, Darren Anderton...

It's just heads-in-the-sand times down there once more and when it all goes pop they can say "why did the Football League let it happen?...blah, blah, blah, we're not to blame"

I'd say you're about right. If Ricky puts in a good one tonight then I think it could stick a couple of thousand on the gate, mind you, Saints fans have been known for leaving it late to get tickets in the past. And, as you say, the 'ammers have got very strong travelling support so if you want an indicator that 'times are a changin' then footie bosses want to take note pretty quick. The pubs are packed with fans watching games for free every weekend, they're deluding themselves if they think the punters will just keep on coming at these ridiculous prices. I've got a ST and can't imagine...after over 4 decades of going to matches...not doing what I do on a match day, but if I hadn't paid up front I may be finding 'reasons' not to bother 'this time' and pop down the local boozer to watch it instead.

Now, I'm the last person to defend Meridian in any way...normally...but tbf it may depend on what broadcast you picked up. In Southampton on channel 3 on freeview I get the 'south' version (Hants/Berks/Sussex), on 103 HD I get the 'east' (E Sussex/Kent/Essex). There was a brief report on 3, maybe you picked up the other one.

Capital One Cup: Bristol City Ticket Details Announced
alehouseboys replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Probably not, the small number that turned up to that overpriced friendly are the ones that are likely to turn up to this overpriced one. Tenner max. -
John Inverdale from BBC sport is a...Lincoln fan, just has a 'soft spot' for Saints from his time at Uni down here. Roger Black hasn't been mentioned yet, nor has Sue Barker or Claire Balding (not that I have a clue if these two are or not, they just get mentioned every time this subject gets raised...regularly)

Capital One Cup 3rd Round Draw - Home to Bristol City
alehouseboys replied to lickierambert's topic in The Saints
City are 'capable' of taking away a good crowd, they've bought good numbers to SMS before. A League One side drawing a Premier side for a cup game 80-90 miles away would be a good distraction from lower league football. They might even fancy their chances against our reserves...they have just dumped out Palace. It wouldn't surprise me to see a big Brizzle following, they usually play up a bit when they come down too. -

Should pull in a decent crowd to see the youngsters, Brizzle will bring 3k+. -
Had a look and then saw this one. Favour the blue side of Glasgow myself but this is the way to take over both ends of an away ground and get a chant going...

They're saying local media are picking up on it now... http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/hotel-bust-up.800694/ ...shame.

Sunderland took the 1800 allocation that still on general sale with "a few remaining" on their OS.
