  1. Just remembered this, did anyone catch it?
  2. If nothing else it's now guaranteed him wonderful coverage on Meridian, Dinenage will be all over him like a rash. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/cricket/cricket-chief-wants-to-join-forces-with-pompey-1-5161966 "But we are looking at things like crossovers between season tickets and membership. ‘And there are a few other things in the pipeline, which I can’t comment on at the moment.’ Bransgrove, a Spurs fan from his youth..." Wasn't that property developer that put the money up for the skates recently a spurs fan...Portsea Hotspurs anyone? Rod during his recent visit to FP
  3. ...and nice to see they've added a new line to the script for new/potential signings to read out. BTW, did he say what end of the table when he mentioned "out of League Two"?
  4. So Milts, do you normally sit in the kingsam stand?
  5. If there's 4 of you in a car all chipping in for petrol then it's a lot cheaper. Group saves on the train are favourite and you never have to even consider the dreaded bingo buses that way
  6. Classic Ron at WHL... RIP Big Fella
  7. This is the 2013/14 Seattle Sounders shirt and that appears to have an under arm panel of sorts... http://proshop.soundersfc.com/ProductDetail.aspx?CategoryID=2679&ProductID=38367 And the much talked about black and gold away shirt does tie in quite nicely with the mentioned black and gold F1 Lotus logo...
  8. I wonder if it was possible to do a deal where a new major sponsor were on the home shirts and aap3 were on the away, maybe just for the final year of their shirt sponsorship, has that ever been done before, ? Can't see it myself, more likely aap just remaining a partner in other areas of the club.
  9. Now, I know we're only playing but...if it were anything like this one then it could be argued that it was a variation of stripes, just a big thick middle red stripe (a kind of a reverse...ish style of the Keegan kit). I'd go with something like that rather than all red personally.
  10. You're very wise, what do you suggest? And I wouldn't say "bothered" but I'd like to see them return. I'll sign petitions and the like and can't see a problem with suggesting a sticky myself, obviously bothers you. I'd suggest you get over it. You're right, only the top section has rail seats, this is what they use... Do they have to leave the bottom terrace empty for European games?
  11. And, to be fair, someone else probably did one 6 months before that...and 6 months before that...it's been going on for years but finally appears to be getting somewhere. I'd like to see it made a 'sticky' or it needs to be 'bumped' regularly to get more people behind it and keep the pressure up. The system used at Dortmund is a rail every 2 rows so it looks like for the space one seat takes up two people can stand, potentially doubling capacity of the stand. Haven't seen the capacity of the 'Yellow Wall' when all-seated for European games.
  12. This is an interesting read... http://www.safestandingroadshow.co.uk/news/borussiadortmundhostsafestandinggroup Safe standing for 24,454 in the Südtribüne 'Yellow Wall' south end of the 80,552 capacity Westfalenstadion in Dortmund and there's never been a problem. Surely we could handle 6,000 in the Northam, couldn't we? Impressive.
  13. I like the ball and halo but would have like to have seen a ship on the crest back then, Southampton is probably more famous for the docks than anything else. The Spitfire could have been another option. BTW the '2010' on that badge is from the Anniversary year when it was suggested a new crest should be brought in to mark it.
  14. To be honest I did that to show what I thought it could possibly look like if it were to be changed as these had been introduced by the club at the time. Obviously you'd never please everyone, there will always be some who'd hate as much as others love a design, I quite liked the current crest when it first appeared in 1974 but thought it was well out-of-date a long time ago and should have been replaced. Personally I'd prefer something like... No doubt others would hate that.
  15. Probably more so but not exactly true. Back in the day of the original Ugly Inside paper fanzine they ran the S.I.C.K. campaign (Saints In Conventional Kit) after years without stripes. And when you look back http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/Southampton.htm there have been a few variations to stripes over our history and for the first half traditionally blue shorts and socks. ...must have been Movember.
  16. Now I have the utmost respect for those that have campaigned tirelessly on behalf of the 96 Hillsborough victims, it's easy to understand their stance against seeing terraces return, but I think they're just sticking their fingers in their ears and going "blah-blah-blah" when they say it should never happen and it's not safe. I guess none of these actually go to football these days because I can't remember seeing Liverpool fans sitting in the away section at SMS, or at any other away game actually, and most of the Kop is always standing at Anfield. How can they seriously go on about never seeing standing at football again and yet tolerate the far more dangerous situations they get at their games these days. There would be a rail in front of every spectator with safe standing, it couldn't be safer. Interesting to see Lee Hoos, now at Burnley, is another added to the list as backing the idea. http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/apr/01/football-fans-stand-politicians-sit-hands
  17. Certainly could be. £609 renewal for me, if it had been closer to £700 it would have been questionable. I'm in my 50s so my mortgage isn't so much of an issue at this stage of life, kids are 'grown up' (but still cost me a small fortune!) and although I only earn an 'average salary' my outgoings don't exactly kill me these days. Luckily the year on year increase has never been too severe but anything over £700 in the near future and even I would struggle to justify the cost of going to football, let alone those just taking on a mortgage or starting a family. One other thing that could impact on any decision is if it got too expensive for those I go with and they didn't renew, I've never been to football on my own and have no desire to do so. It's always been a 'lads day out' for me.
  18. As you say, nevermind, certainly no harm in showing that again. It should be sent to the FA and every Chairman in this country. We could learn a thing or two from these German fellas.
  19. You could save yourself £100 straight away and move to the wings, there's not a bad view in the place. But club's need to tread careful with these prices because you can watch any Premier League game these days from the comfort of home or down the pub and save yourself a small fortune in these tougher times. OK you won't get that live/being there atmosphere but that's pretty sh*t at many grounds these days anyway and quite often better in the boozer! I'll still go tho, it's what I do on a Saturday(ish) afternoon and have done for 40-something years, can't see it changing.
  20. Some 'crayons' in the Kingsland North. I kid you not.
  21. Would love to keep him but I certainly wouldn't begrudge him the move. As one of our previous managers said, "I'd walk over broken glass" to play for my club. At least it'd free up the Luke Shaw/Theo chant for Pochettino... "...na-na-na-na, 'Tinoooo"
  22. Still can't believe we only had 3,100 at Wigan, there is no way there are 2,500 empty seats in that stand, there was a small block of around 500 'segregation seats' at each side. I'd suggest Wigan massage the figures a bit to make it look like more home fans in attendance.
  23. If nothing else it reminds our 'friends' down the road that we are the biggest Trust owned football club on the South Coast F.A.O: beatlesaint...you're welcome to do whatever you like with the post in the 'Caption Competition' thread...it was 3 posts and out yesterday.
  24. Interesting to see they've shown the badge in gold on the OS http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-827051.aspx
