  1. Tut tut. You bit...... :-)
  2. Good post. Someone else mentioned that at the game he looked solid and it was only when tv analysed his performance that the doubts crept in. Yes he made the wrong choice coming out for qpr's goal but as Nigel says, it's a young tea that's learning.
  3. You do realise that due ti injury illness, Ramirez, shaw and cork were not available for selection before the last couple of games?
  4. Would not swap him for lambert or Rodriguez.
  5. Great player. Too artistic for the saints team at the time. Did see some flashed of his ability but most of the time, he was on a different wavelength to the rest of the team intellectually and in terms of movement. Will make a good coach when he hangs up his boots - very similar to Adkins I suspect.
  6. Careful. He could be ours in January.
  7. I'd go with this but with red shirts. Can't see the stripes catching on personally.
  8. Some decent comments. Boruc is probably the best of the three and needs game time to get back to his best. Kelvin has the best shots to save ratio but for me will struggle at this level because he does have the reach of the others. Plus I think he has more of an eye on coaching now. So Gazza - a better prospect IMO than Butland probably needs to keep his place. I hope the other players don't overplay the mistake on saturday.
  9. Expectation yes. Realism no. For all we know we aimed to spend £50 in the summer (remember we are ahead of schedule in the 5 year plan and Cortese confirmed that this meant there would be more available for transfers). We got the playmaker but could not secure the top class defender we needed. **** happens, we're still better off because we have that playmaker. Still confident that given the time and support, NA will keep us up with this squad. Would be nice to get another one or two central defenders in January though.
  10. Albeit that he can't share his source.
  11. Never was there a better time to focus on the positives and draw a line under the defensive blunder. Great to have cork back. Shaw is a great prospect. Ramirez is getting stronger.
  12. I just don't get what this thread is about? Is it that we subbed Shaw (who had a great game but has barely played a full 90 minutes for a couple of months) or the failure to sub one of the font players when we were on the ascendency?
  13. I think they're talking about James Bettie not Kevin Bettie
  14. Normally I would agree but confidence is so low with Jos, Fonte and Fox that it makles sense to put the youngsters in. They will be up for it for sure.
  15. I don't think anyone is away at the minute. They link up with their squads after the weekend games.
  16. The OP is going to regret posting this in 12 months tme.
  17. Exactly. Except having quoted Neville reasonably accurately you said the defenders arenot good enough. That's your view not what Phil said. The other relevant quote in recent times is from Fat Sam who said this was basically the same defence that got the win last season. So it's not about skill - its's about confidence. When confidence is fragile you apply pressure and they panic. As you say - you can't coach them out of that

    Cortese

Or to put it mother way, 14 reasons to back him 1 getting the best young manager in Britain to replace pardew and secure back to back promotions 2 allowing Adkins to tie things up at his old club before joining 3 making sure contractors don't take us for a ride at staplewood 4 letting local media who do not support know who is in charge. Not selling the corporate facilities cheap 5 getting rid of freeloaders 6 trying to secure a new revenue stream on photo rights 7 securing best value for money on contracts 8 honouring the man who saved this club 9 improving the image of the match day experience 10 securing a director of football who has been instrumental in shaping English international football over the last 10 years 11 supporting the manager during difficult times 12 maximising cash flow 13 investing £20m in new players during he transfer window 14 alternating stripes with revolutionary kit design to maximise commercial revenue Of course some of those tongue in cheek but it illustrates my point that any idiot can produce list to back up their prejudicial views or their mindless support for an individual. Lets get back to talking football shall we. We're just to very good at the other stuff.
  19. Ramirez got some match practice ahead of Saturday. J Road is looking better each game. Shaw made a sound debut.
  20. Yes - excellent support. almost sounded like a home game!
  21. Not sure I'd go quite that far but that was not a bad team. What I found frustrating was the lack of pace, the predictability and the way they waited for the ball to come to them. Nigel needs to get angry with them. They're simply not trying hard enough.
  22. I think he's talking about the banking crisis. He has a point!
  23. But you really don't know we are borrowing against future income. You don't know the size of the loan. You don't know the terms. In fact you know sweet fa. There's a world of difference to securing loans against future income and good cash flow against certain income in the current season. Good businessmen will know how to borrow and lend money in a way that gives a financial benefit. It's how banks survive. Now, tell me again, what is Nicola's background?
  24. You should have been banned. Consider yourself lucky ;-)
  25. Sheffield wed for me but Norwich is a club I have always considered close to saints. Promoted to div 1 together in the 60's and both achieved double promotions this decade. Ted bates came from Norwich as did ron Davies ted mcdougall Phil Boyer. 'M sure there were others. Surman and Channon went the other way. And of course we've ad some cracking games with them. Similar sort of family, survive on a shoe string culture.
