  1. To be fair, most of those are probably young school children influenced by the fact that he is not the leagues leading scrore but fail to appreciate the workrate over 90 minutes. You won't find many adults subscribing to the view that he should be dropped.
  2. Good result and fair given the overall performance by both teams. Cork and puncheon best players for me. Can't really blame Davis for the goal. A deflection is normally enough to put he attacker off. Fell kindly for Berbatov. Good play by Adkins too. He resisted the temptation to pull of Rickie toward the end. And boy did we need him.
  3. Fantastic news
  4. Buttner warming the bench at old Trafford.

  6. Losers look back. Winners look forward.
  7. Loyalty works both ways.
  8. Actually we were ok until they scored although Mayuka was not great. I think the style of football let us down today. Too many balls pumped forward in the hope that Mayuka or lambert would do something magical. The second half we looked bereft of ideas. But we are better than that so not too worried. Sunderland worked hard for their win and the week off turned out not to be the advantage we thought it was.
  9. Relatively speaking he is actually no more expensive than the £4m we paid for Delap in 2001. So maybe the real question should be who of those two would you prefer to see in the team? And forget today as most of them looked lack lustre.
  10. Lol. I was going down the bar too but maybe I've changed my mind. Sounds like it's going to be full of miserable bastards.... ;-)
  11. I've seen two games with Lee in recently. Played a wide role against Man Utd U21s and looked like a fish out of water. Got in everyones way, no real interest in the game, did not commnuicate scored 1 of 2 penalties. Complete rubbish. Played a central striking role -v- Necastle U21s on monday and looked a class above everyone else on the pitch. Sharp, hardworking, communicated well, scored a tap in but created havoc in the Newcastle defence. A real team player showing first team potential.
  12. They are not getting it wrong. They release players because they are crap. sometimes it is the kick up the backside some of them need to get their careers back on track. There are dozens of Kevin Phillips and Dennis Wise types about. Who would have thought Gary Monk would be regular in the Premiership? Even Nathan Dyer has lifted himself up since leaving.
  13. Unlike Saints Forum posters?
  14. Butland is no better than Gazza IMO
  15. Nice cameo appearance from Alberto Seidi too.
  16. Some people still do not realise that this club expects contracts to be honoured and it works both ways. Plus side - we keep JWP, Shaw and Lallana. Plus side - players more likely to sign for us knowing that we will honour their contracts to the end of the term (unless they see a better chance of regular football elsewhere).
  17. Good luck to them.

Hard to believe he is not on our shopping list. One of the highest rated defenders in Europe. Young but struggling to break into first team. Would be a perfect signing and not too expensive either. Better than what we have o would definitely not be a bench warmer.
  20. Don't think that is really true. He had the opportunity to play regularly for Yeovil but he considered a decent income to be a higher priority. Do not blame him on that at all. Fair play but it was ultimately his decision.
  21. Fantastic. A lovely couple deserving every happiness that the birth will bring.
  22. Fair enough. I only remember his prediction on Ramirez being out for 6 weeks (came back in 4) and Strachan coming in as manager till the end of the season. But now you mention it, he was quite accurate on a couple of signings during close season. As for Dawson. Def a good signing. Would be hasppy with that!
  23. Can we have a poll to see if we need a poll? Any of the 5 for me - so long as it is entertaining
  24. Why state your opinion as fact? NA has said he hopes Adam to be fit for Sunderland. I've seen no reports to suggest otherwise (unless you take the 'my mate bumped into him in the pub' and he openly shared his medical details in a conversation he knew would not go down well with his employers). Even a 2 month lay off only takes us to the end of the transfer window so clearly better to look within for a replacement

This. Targets will be a CB (or two), ball winning midfielder, wide player and keeper in that order. Must be better than we have. Once CB is essential in my view. the rest we could live without given the players we already have at the club and coming through the youth.
