  1. No other club of a similar size is doing as well as us, so maybe they should do 'that'. Maybe Everton rejecting 30 million for Stones isn't the right thing to do? 30 million can go a long way if it's spent right
  2. He wouldn't be cheaper than Pedro. We'd only sell at 25 million + I would think
  3. Not surprising. He'll go next summer. Hopefully after a loan spell this year Reed will be able to fully step up next season and save us spending funds on a replacement
  4. I'd take 20 million for him, let alone 25, particularly with the contract situation. Not good enough on the ball to justify a huge fee like that. He's a beast but everyone has a price
  5. Completely agree. He doesn't like shooting from distance so I don't see why we play him there. Play him on the left or centrally now that he's fully fit and he could be a great player for us, as he showed at the start of last season
  6. Your vendetta against Tadic got boring a very long time ago
  7. Toby wasn't even ours and chose to go to Spurs. Clyne wasn't signing a new deal so we either had to take the 12.5 million this year or next year he walks for free. We'd clearly told Morgan after last summer that we'd let him go this one. 25 million for a holding midfielder, as good as Morgan is, is a very fair price. You won't find many that have been sold for more. I don't think we could have done anything to prevent it this summer. Selling players for good money will not hurt us IF the recruitment is right. Stekelenburg has been very solid so far and the only other one playing right now is Cedric. We WILL sign another CB and we need to get last year's best left back in the league on the pitch. Once the window closes and we get everyone fit again we will have a team that starts to look like a top 8 side
  8. Frustrating. Steven Davis can't play as a holding midfielder and is invisible as a number 10 when we're needing to create. Why is he an automatic pick every week? We were better in the second half but the nature of the game by that point meant we were going to be frustrated. Romeu and Wanyama must play and once Bertand is back and a CB signed we'll look a lot better. Targett was hopeless for the second game running and as usual Lukaku destroyed us. Can't play as badly as we did in the first half against a decent side and come back from it
  9. Gash?! Jesus I wonder if some people on here actually watch many games. He's always had the attributes to be very good and in the last 6 months has started to show that. Developing into a great player
  10. You're familiar with the way bookies operate are you?
  11. I doubt Fonte wants to leave and I don't think he earns what a player of his status should do. I certainly doubt it's as much as we were offering Toby and other targets. That's an educated guess based on the fact he has decided to change his agent. Said agent is now doing his job. What's more interesting is how much would it take for Les to consider selling? I'm sure they are aware of just how important he is in the dressing room and his leadership on the pitch, but everybody has a price
  12. Could you begrudge him that at this stage of his career? Do you know that?
  13. We've been linked with a lot of players, but it's telling that most of our deals have come completely out of nowhere. Cedric, Juanmi, Martina and Romeu. None of them really linked with us until they were having medicals. It's pretty clear the majority of links are fuelled by agents getting their clients' names in the press, rather than there being genuine interest from our end
  14. Very good so far. Looks incredibly calm and his distribution is solid. He seems to be prepared to come off his line more than FF. It wouldn't surprise me if in 6 months we are talking about him being a better keeper than FF
  15. Cabaye is 29 and they've had to pay a big fee and give him an enormous contract to get him. He will improve them but financially that deal makes little sense. Sako was widely reported in the press recently to be asking for absurd wages as well, and if we'd signed Connor Wickham for 7 million (who I actually think might do ok there) you'd be slating the club for it i'm sure

He doesn't have the stature, confidence or physicality yet to play as one of the deeper midfielders so the only position we can really play him as a number 10. He does have the ability and potential to play that role I think but he needs to start taking some responsibility now. If you want to play in that position in the PL you have to impact games, which means creating goals and scoring them as well. 10 goals and 10 assists is what you have to aim for. He has the ability I think to get close to that if he just had the bottle to shoot more as we know he can strike a ball sweetly considering he takes excellent set pieces at times. He needs to be braver with his passing also. Too many players now are obsessed with their "pass completion rate" and other ****e stats that are being incorrectly interpreted IMO across football. I don't care how many simple sideways and backwards passes a number 10 makes, I care about how many incisive passes he makes and how many chances he creates. If there was one thing I'd ask of him it would be to be braver on the ball and take responsibility. Until that happens I don't think he should be ahead of Mane or Tadic to play that role
  17. Or incredibly accurate
  18. Fact is that if you want to play as a no.10 in the PL now you have to have a direct impact on games, which means scoring goals and creating them. Davis does neither. he's a tidy player and is a great squad option to have as one of the two holding players and can also do a job as a no.10 in some of the tougher games we'll have where we want to be more solid, but if he's playing there every game all season we will continue to struggle to break teams down and create enough chances
  19. He's been written off by many, but I think Gazzaniga has some talent. He's still very young for a keeper and he's significantly better than Kelvin now. I'm happy with him as no. 2 until FF is back
  20. A bit iffy? Jesus he was absolutely appalling in that 45 minutes. I blamed MP for picking him when JC was bang in form and Vic clearly wasn't fully fit. When a player is having a bad game I don't see what's wrong with supporters wanting him to be subbed? Doesn't mean I didn't rate him, I just had a set of eyes and could see quite clearly that he shouldn't have been on the pitch that day
  21. Agree about that pitiful article. He's been proven astronomically wrong in his predictions and assumptions and is now digging himself into an even deeper hole. EVERY club in this country is a selling club, the good ones make sure they sell for very big fees and we are certainly in that bracket. We've sold our best player for £27 million, and Stoke have sold theirs for £7 million. That right there is one of the biggest reasons we are the "best of the rest"
  22. Completely agree with this
  23. He's fine at the moment I'm sure as he thinks someone will pay the money. Let's see if he is happy when Utd and Arsenal both sign others and his only option is Spurs when they come in at the last minute with another derisory bid that gets rejected. I predict a tantrum
  24. "Let them agree"? Toby was not going to sign for us. He wanted to join Spurs, us agreeing a fee with AM would have changed nothing because Toby would have just waited for Spurs to agree their deal. We never had a chance, despite Toby leading Koeman and Reed on
