  1. Huh! We in the proper middle class play real tennis. Even the OP using the term 'Bompey' shows that it is Portsmouth who remain our rivals , not the mostly harmless few on the Dorset coast. PFC in whatever latest incarnation, and in whatever league (or non-league ) they play will always be the team to loathe.
  2. Allen does seem to spend a hell of a lot of his time being an internet warrior. Might explain why he doesn't do any actual journalism!
  3. Note also the short-sleeved short that is too small for him to do up the top button. It's all part of his "I'm just a fan like the rest of you plebs" image -- unlike the champagne. Btw, perhaps Nicola would lend him a better watch if he asked nicely?
  4. It doesn't say that doesit? Says he out a pic of a speedo at 125 mph last year, but nothing to say that wasn't within the speed limit
  5. I think you're forgetting how poor the standard of Scottish football is. Take out Celtic (and the Rangers of old) and any decent English championship team would win that league.
  6. Islam ( and indeed Judaism, and even some strict christian sects) forbid charging interest on loans, and gambling. (See 'usury') Cissé's stance made little enough sense given, as you say, he apparently had no problem with their sponsor last season. Though he might argue that responsible lending bank/company is not as immoral as a payday loan company. However, his also reportedly frequenting a casino makes his position farcically inconsistent.
  7. Personally I wouldn't dream of using my mobile for any financial transaction or purchase, or indeed anything that gave access to more than my emails at worst. Using an i-phone for example to access your bank account or for this 'proximity payment' they are pushing now, is asking for trouble IMO. Not that even my approach is totally secure of course. Someone could use my email to, for example, try to get my bank to send login details as if I'd forgotten them. But chances are a hacker will go for an easier target first.
  8. That's what he's trying to say, but actually what it shows is that a game against Portsmouth simply does not interest Bournemouth fans. Afer paying £60 to watch one of the best teams in the world , for any Bompey fans to turn up to see the pompey game was remarkable.
  9. But in Wanyama's case it is his chest measurement.
  10. Those of us who have been saints fans for more than 5 minutes remember that it is not so long ago that we called them scummers. This skates/scummer nickname divide is relatively new anyway.
  11. Immigration and ethnicity: the public think that 31% of the population are immigrants, when the official figures are 13%. Even estimates that attempt to account for illegal immigration suggest a figure closer to 15%. There are similar misperceptions on ethnicity: the average estimate is that black and Asian people make up 30% of the population, when it is actually 11% (or 14% if we include mixed and other non-white ethnic groups). ----- which is about the same proportion of the population that are left-handed!
  12. It's approximately 43 years since I last did any serious training. That makes me only about 87% fit right?

    Triple snub?

  14. Looks as if front row wil be blocked http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23004880 And I'd only just got used to it!
  15. Good job you said. I immediately thought of one rhyming with "punts"
  16. An excellent author -- unusual in working in 2 genres under almost the same name, one as Iain Banks and one as Iain M. Banks. I recommend his books to everyone. His death at only 59 has robbed us of many more that he would have written. I read 'Surface Detail' only a few weeks ago -- what an extraordinary imagination!
  17. To be fair, I suspect we'd have a different view if we were Bristol City fans.
  18. Maybe, if it is made of second hand material from the rag and bone man?
  19. Exactly. You need to be careful and clear about what is formally a redundancy payment as such, and what is merely part of a package related to redundancy. It is only the first 30k of an official redundancy payment that is tax free... ie additional compensation for being made redundant, not payments in lieu of notice, or indeed any other contractual obligations that your employer is bound to make.
  20. Exactly. Bookies' odds aren't just about the likelihood of an event happening; they also take into account number of bets made, because that affects their possible losses. Plus supply and demand affects price anyway...why offer long odds if enough fools are putting bets on at short odds? So if, for example, enough people put bets on Nigel Farage becoming the next prime minister, the odds would be fairly short, even though it is highly unlikely to happen. Portsmouth having probably the biggest fan base in L2 now that Braford aren't there, means that they will have more deluded fans betting on success than any other L2 club and that in itself will make them favourites.
  21. You're probably right, but will he still be that good when he is 37? Remember, no one signed him after he left Saints until the skates did -- presumably because of his injury record. If I were managing Bournemeuth etc I'd have offered him a very short term deal, maybe only a game by game contract, not a 2 year one. Sounds as if he's interested in moving into coaching and the skates have promised him the opportunity during his time there, so i suppose he might see this as an investing in his career development phase of his life , rather than an earning big money phase.
  22. And it's a 2 year deal, so he'll still be getting paid at 37. Gives him some pocket money!
  23. Ever heard of the Hawthorne Effect? Sounds like it might well have applied here. Any change can produce good results -- for a while !
  24. Nor me , but then neither did I see the coming of Pardew's or Adkins's sacking
  25. So exactly who are "the trust that owns the club" ?
