  1. How about players who's Surname could be a Christian name .... such as Charlie George, Eric Martin, Brian O'Neil and more up to date Wayne Thomas? Or players who's name starts and ens with the same letter .. eg Adam Lallana? Re the nativity play lets not forget Le God :prayer: Nice fred, whiles away the time whilst we await our new signings
  2. That is the big worry for me and many others who live outside The UK. There is a problem with broadcasting rights or something like that and The BBC etc can't transmit to overseas listeners. Hopefully they will be able to get around it in the same way they did with The Matchday Commentary On The Saint. Us overseas fans could not listen to the radio station as such, but got a connection from about an hour (supposedly, often 10 mins if you were lucky ) and an hour afterwards. Fingers crossed. Bring back Peter Hood ? from Power FM, happy days
  3. Until we scored, then a quick relocation to the next available crash barrier We all live at the back of Milton Road, the back of Milton Road etc etc I hear some of the grounds in L1 are so primitive that it is standing only even in the ladies toilets
  4. By the time EK005 deps i will hopefully have a few pints inside me . I finish at 1300, but have a great day out at the cricket.
  5. Two trips spring to mind ... both FA Cup matches from the mid 70's ... WBA 76 cup run, all a bit nawty on the walk (run ) back to Smethick West and the next year at Notts Forest where if I remember rightly we were delayed on the way up and no time to get any beers in Nottingham, straight to the ground (or was it a police escort wouldn't let us go anywhere but the ground?) Thinking about it I can't remember anything about the journeys at all, presume we took our own beers but not sure, and of course nowadays there would be no chance at all.
  6. http://www.timeoutdubai.com/gallery/9667-rock-bottom-party?image=16 Is that any way for the last SMS home team changing room winning manager to behave, a bare 10 months before a possible re match
  7. We defo have a vacancy in this area, especially now that we don't have Rudi or Drew. The fans need to feel loved and appreciated and there are few better at clapping the fans than Prutton. It would be a great boost to the fans who travel to away games, especially at the end of a severe tonking on a cold winters evening in some northern hell hole, a bit of :smt041 and :smt039would make the journey seem worthwhile
  8. Yay .. I was there that night as well, but didn't get Tina Weymouth's plectrum, some **** a few rows in front of me trousered it Amazing to think that a few months later Dire Straits would release Sultans of Swing and be playing sell out gigs at places like The Gaumont etc so soon after being a support band at Soton Uni to a few hundred people Keeping it footie related, hopefully our season will be similarly upward ... 1st away game at Huddersfield, last game of the season winning the play offs at Wembley (actually lets make it winning the last 2 games of the season at Wembley ... FA Cup and Play off final )
  9. I lost my super fan status along time ago, but will be slumming it at the northern wastes of Huddersfield and Stockport, but missing out on Swindon. Is the Huddersfield ground just the McAlpine stadium renamed, or have they moved again?
  10. We don't want to rush into things Don't forget the club have been very busy over the last few years trying to sign Rudi Whilst agreeing he is the sort of player we should be looking for, I don't think he is the right one. I was hoping Wotton was going to be able to fill that roll last season, but fell well short of the mark. Maybe a revamped Jason Euell, or even a recall for Rudi and put him in a midfield slot
  11. What a great manifesto ... be sure to send onto SFC. And to make it even better, when the missus asks why you've rolled home blind drunk and can't even remember the score, you can simply say you were just doing your own little bit for the club's future
  12. And the odd guest appearance from Dubai Hoping to make it to the Stockport and Huddersfield games this year, will look out for where you guys may be enjoying a pre/post tipple or 10 Cheers E
  13. What is the point of those two Solent Commentators being at SMS if they aren't giving any commentary
  14. Don't even think about going down that route ... they use this system here in Dubai at virtually every out door function, result you end up queueing twice and more time is spent with the pourer and cashier discussing who paid for what rather than doing their respective jobs. Total nightmare.
  15. LOL .. thought this was going to be about the new leader of our well famed yoof, the 2009 version of Millwalls Harry The Dog from days gone by With his main faces Terry the Tortoise and Larry the Lamb, they will be terrorising L 1 this season.
  16. Well, all you guys and gals at SMS had better sing Happy Birthday loud and clear, just in case he does a Delgado and bogs off in a mega sulk Just hope everybody gets his name right, as there are several posts on this fred calling him Alan Curbishly Let the good times roll. COYRs
  17. As mentioned by many other posters, considering the situation we are in, this is a great result. A manager with experience at this level (and how to get out of it [-o Given the choice of Pardew or Hart (who looks like keeping the Skates job in The Prem) I know which one I'd choose. And lets be thankful it wasn't The Donkey FFS All the talk of WGS was a great diversion, and I take my hat off to all those behind the scenes who kept all the rumours of APs appointment to an absolute minimum. It wouldn't surprise me if WGS was in on the Red Herring ploy at Staplewood . Not sure if L1 (Div 3 old money) would have been an ideal backdrop for WGS to manage in, as his expectations would have probably far outweighed the capabilities of the players and led to a lot of frustration (but interesting post match interviews ). Who knows we may get him yet as DoF. At long long last we can actually start to focus on the Football side of things, although the next few weeks will hopefully also be dominated by transfer news, but please remember the new owners will not be chucking silly money into a bottomless pot, they have clearly stated they have a long term plan for stability and progression upwards. A few astute signings to bolster the side up and then a bit of a spend in The Jan sales to see us into The layoffs is probably a realistic (but by no means easy) objective this season. At long last my faith in Fridays has been restored :smt023. Patience will be needed as well, don't read too much into it when we get rolled over by Ajax on Saturday. The real world starts at home to Millwall, which given Pardew's past association with both WHU and Charlton, should mean we will at least have a highly motivated manager on the touchline
  18. LOL I did warn you .... feels like a bit of cut and paste from the Time Out and Ahlan may be in order
  19. I would certainly like to speculate over her I did actually suggest this idea weeks ago to try and uplift the spirits in the darker takeover moments  Maybe the catering department could do a special Lucy Pinder snack .... 2 huge baps (with a filling of your choice) and a side dressing of Mayo
  20. On the subject of Spitfires, this is still one of my all time favourite YouTube moments EVER. (and even my home town of Beastleigh gets a name check). Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wpq4Tu2NnrQ
  21. Wishful thinking. Sounds similar to the dream I had last night after the one about me and Lucy Pinder. Nice if it happens, but for the time being it's just a dream.
  22. I think you might want to disagree with yourself first ... unless you add a great big NOT between the would and want
  23. Our own Jumbo jets, don't be silly ... we can only afford Lear Jets and Gulfstream executive Jets If this thread gets just one or two people saving money by sharing their petrol money, then it has been a success. Not all Saints fans live within a few miles of the ground, in fact at most of the away games I've attended over the last few years I barely ever seem to have met anybody who actually travelled from Southampton. Well done to all those far flung fans for whom every home game is the equivelent of an away game ... I salute you all :smt039
  24. LOLage .. when I saw the headline "Lallana set for Bournemouth return" I had visions of us selling/loaning him to Bomo ...
