I think these Skates are a bit simple, my Skate boss is the same. I keep trying to tell him, had we beat Man U, we would have stayed up. As we lost to them, we went down. Man U relegated us, not WBA or The Skates. It seems to have become an urban myth, like Denis Law's back heel ( which didn't relegate Man U either, as results elsewhere had already done that)

The Credit crunch is affecting football, however our attendances are out of line with other clubs. Other Clubs played poorly and struggled last season, and yet their attandances have not fallen as far.So two of the reason given on here, should apply to other Clubs as well as ours. You have to ask yourselves why these figures are so poor and why at 26% down, we're lower than anyone bar Morcombe and a long way off the average. It can only be the way our Club is being run, everything else should apply to a number of Clubs.

Hull have a very rich backer compared to Lowe and what a contrast West Brom's spell in the CCC was compared to ours. They got rid of one or two, but maintainted stability throughout, meaning they were able to return to the top flight during the parachute payments.I didn't see them desperatly off loading their better players, whilst only reinvesting £90,000. They didn't even need a "World renowed Sports Sceince expert" or a "vision coach" either.........
-
Have to disagree there. Palace, Norwich and WBA were all pretty poor that season. To go down that year following the Managerial circus was a pretty poor effort compared to other seasons...........

Speaking as someone whose father knew Brian Tiler and his family quite well, I find this statement one of the most offensive I've ever seen on here. You really should be ashamed of yourself.....

Harry Redknapp is a self self publicist, who twists facts to suit himself, he was also a crap Manager for us. That said, in this instance the statement he made was pretty accurate. Boscombe were in the 4th Div, Pompey were langishing in the CCC, and we were on the way down, following some awful results in winnable games under Wiggley. Yes, he did fail to halt our slide, but we were heading downwards.. There is no doubt he took Boscombe to heights they've never been before and he has, with a lot of money, got the Skates in a better position. However it is the position he leaves Clubs in that he fails to mention. Boscombe were £4 mil in debt, West Ham went down soon afterwards, and the true story of his sacking has never come out. Hopefully, he'll leave the Skates in the ****e as well....

The juries still out on him in my opinion. Basic errors seem to be made, no striker on the bench for Birmingham game and playing Killer in League Cup. Both of which he has acknowledged were errors on his part. Lack of defenders coming in, something GB was heavily critised for. Also the system seems to be pretty inflexable, and like Burley he seems to be unable to influence games as much as some Managers. Personally I can see worrying signs that he's not quite up to it, but I hope I'm wrong. As someone who thought Rupert was out of his mind appointing WGS, I hope I'll be proved wrong again...........

Was / Is NP a 'Bootboy' and can we get real about what we need to do?
St Paul replied to Sheff Saint's topic in The Saints
All this talk of what we can and can't afford, perhaps someone can answer why we signed Pulis, when he's injured and is still 4 or 5 weeks away from full fitness. Is he that good that we had to buy him then and there, rather than miss out? Are we paying his wages? Where does this sit with the Rupert Lowe cost cutting scheme, And what would Leon Crouch's distractors have said, had Pearson done the same thing last season? -

Would Leicester be top of League 1 had JP been appointed there instead of Pearson? -
I have looked at his record, it compares to to Jan's with a tough run in and George Burley's demotavated team. He's also lost less games than Jan has already. The fact that Mandric, picked him says a lot about the potential he has. Would any other Chairman in the top 3 divisions pick JP above NP?
-
Complete and utter rubbish. As Leeds, Forest and before them Weds and Man C have found out League 1 is tough for big sides to get out of. Pearson has made a great start to his Leicester career and it will be interesting to see if he'll keep it up. Had he not been Manager here before, people would be using him as an example of the type of young Manager we need to bring in..... Pearson managed George Burley's team at SMS, he didn't have a preseason and he didn't have a transfer window. The only thing he had was the loan system and with Lucketti, Perry and Wright he used that to prefection, shoring up our weak spots. Perhaps Jan should take a leaf out of his book and get in a couple of defenders on loan, or does he think our defense is ok?
-
Is it another Nigel Pearson who worked with the English U21's then?
-
Oh dear Scooby, Looks like you've been caught out. 1-0 to the "flat caps".
-
"Crouch luvvie"? No just a supporter, who doesn't think Lowe is up to the job. Is it now part of being a supporter that you have to have a favourite Chairman? Perhaps Panini will start doing Boardroom stickers soon.........
-
I do hope Scooby is on a wind up, because I would be concerned if he was serious. Rupert beware we could have another Mark Chapman on our hands........
-
I hate moaners, but I also hate people who suddenly think everything is rosey after 1 win. Why are there such extremes on here? We had 3 games against teams who'll be around us, Blacpool and Barnsley at home and Donny away. 4 points is the minimum we should have got out of those 3.........
-
Burley has managed at this level before and did ok. JP is out of his depth...........
-
Had Leon Crouch and Pearson remained and presided over the same results, attendances and fire sale that Lowe/Wilde/Jan have. Would the pro Lowe posters be urging restraint, would they be calling for Pearson to be given time, and spouting the mantra of "we have no choice" and "give the youngsters a chance"? If we judge Lowe on the performance of his structure and his Management set up since his return, (let's forget his part in our downfall, at this time) then it's been pretty woeful.
-
He's a Skate and shouldn't be allowed to post on here. The use of Scum to describe Lawrie is very telling.
-
I keep reading how impressed people are with Jan's assesment of various games. If he's so good at "telling us how it is", perhaps he should write match reports for the O/S. We could then get a Manager in who might win a few more games. Just a thought.
-
You've proberly not seen Leicester this season, so how can you make a judgemet? Mind you the same applies to Saints. I thought we were going to walk this league, with the "Golden Duo" in charge.
-
I'd be delighted if we finish the season in 21st!
St Paul replied to Saintmike666's topic in The Saints
If Leon Crouch was still Chairman would certain people be pleased with the performances, would they except a season of struggle and likely relegation. No they would be howling and moaning and calling for Lowe's return. If Lawrie Mac had been involved with the appointment of an unknown, unteseted Dutchman, would they be calling for him to be given time? No they would they be trying to claim he was appointed to feather his sons nest, whilst running down and slagging off the great man. -
I have said it so many times I have to stick with it

My issue with what's going on at the moment is it seems to be set in stone. Older players here before new set up-Journeymen. What is Wooten if not a journeyman? was Perry a journeyman last season, when Leon Crouch and Pearson got him on loan, but not now that he put pen to paper under Lowe? It's too much black and white at our club at present. Why is Stern John not playing, I couldn't care less whether he's 45 or 16, he scores goals in this league and should be in. We need a blend of youngsters and senior pro's to guide them. All that matters are results, and the simple fact is we're not getting them. Gillett, Surman, McG are not youngsters, they should at their age be judged by their performances, just like any pro footballer. I'm fed up with reading excuses. -
If Leon Crouch had remained in charge, sacked Pearson, got some unknown in. Sold Davies for peanuts and we'd lost 4 out of 5 league games, what would the Lowe luvvies have been saying about that?
