  1. I'll never forget that 88/89 season until the day I die. It was the year I did my GCSE's. I remember us beating Villa 3 - 1 at the Dell with an amazing display to put us third. Our next win after that was April 1st at home to Newcastle. I arrived at half time during that games due to the shoddy trains, could only get in at the family centre, then in the last minutes Rodney was out on the right of the penalty area and their keeper came storming out and brought him down. Such amazing relief to actually win a game. Was also the Hillsborough season and the most sensationally won league championship ever won (much more so than 2012 imo)
  2. CN will always represent a time when Saints meant the most to me. I remember being heartbroken in 89/90 & 91 losing in the league cup 1/4 final on each occasion to Luton, Oldham and Man Utd. Some great games. Shearers hatrick debut (4-2 win) v Arsenal in 87/88 and the 4-1 win against Liverpool in 89/90 stand out. Liverpool were dominant and had won practically all their games up until that day in October.
  3. or we just win up there in the first place. Save us a bit of hassle.
  4. We let them win in the league cup game. Surely they can return the favour. Besides, they've already got their Wembley day out. Also, none of their players will want to pick up injuries for that final 2 weeks after.
  5. Could have been worse. We should get at least a draw there. Clear favourites IMO.
  6. EDIT: MLT kept us up for years MARCUS LIEBERR got us up from the bottom to the top, didn't they both do well, our two saviours
  7. Have you called the police ?
  8. I bought my tickets online and as always I had to pay a £1 fee per ticket. So this £2 surcharge means your actually only paying an extra £1
  9. Yes. Originally they called it The Friends Provident Stadium, but then Lowe gave way to fan power at it got changed to The Friends Provident St Mary Stadium. Football commentators hated it and just called it St Mary's.
  10. Depends if its just bruising keeping him on crutches.
  11. This kind of explains the all red strip. All part of the making us attractive to a Chinese consortium.
  12. I called the ticket office telling there was something wrong with online ticketing. You cant buy a ticket in the entire family centre not the other side of the Chapel. Turns out they're closing down half the stadium. Taking my 3 year old boy to his first game.
  13. It seems pretty damn obvious to me that she intends to sell the club but do it in a way that represents the best interests of the club. If my Dad had left me a club of which I had to real interest in, I would respect what he 'would have wanted' Kind of the way that Milan sold on the skates to that Russian dude. Ah.
  14. Could you pray for me to win the Euromillions.
  15. Big question here. Has MP ever met KL? If so, does he get on with her? Surely if he gets a largely non-interfering owner who's splashing a bit of cash for players, why would he leave? Lets see how this unfolds. The good news is players can only leave within the next 2 weeks. And more good news; - Stripes - MLT at games.
  16. If Liebherr doesnt want to sell, surely she'll get another chairman of reasonable quality - and who likes stripes.
  17. 1.6m way too much for Diego.
  18. With Diego, that's 2 new midfielders for us in January then. The cup is as good as ours.
  19. There are few teams in the Prem with little to play for in the league and for me we are one of them. Gives us a great advantage in the FA cup imo
  20. I have 2 x 5 year olds (twins). They take it in turns to go to the game with me. It's free for them (except category A games). They love going - the day out with me, the atmosphere, the jumping around when we score. Sure they don't understand the game but it's a just a nice day out. I always bring a bag full of snacks and sweets in case they get bored, and occasionally the iPad is called upon but all in all I love taking them and they love going.
  21. There's a sizeable gap between us and 10th and we're too good to go down a few places and dragged into a relegation battle. Then you look up and fair enough 8th is within reach. But for me the top seven is taken by the 2 x Manchester teams, 2 x Merseyside teams and 3 x London teams. Looking at our upcoming fixtures, maybe we can launch an assault on that top 7 but its a big maybe and I really hope we focus on the cup.
  22. This. Were set for mid table this season. A cup run is what its all about. A good passage to wembley is far more realistic than European football any other way.
  23. like Harding you mean.
  24. Whats up with these pundits? Merson called us Sunderland twice when he did our game v Chelsea the other day.
