Can see it being a routine Leicester victory. Fingers crossed we can stick a performance together, and take our chances, and get some luck at our own end. Been very impressed with them, especially their 3 midfield players. 1-3 - we always score at home.

Back to a 5 at the back for me...we're not good enough defensively to play 4222 IMO. --------------------McCarthy--------------------- ----------Bednarek-Danso-Yoshida-------------- Cedric--------------Romeu--------------Bertrand ------------JWP--------------Hojbjerg----------- -------------------Redmond-------------------- ---------------------Ings-------------------------

Charlie Austin - Sold to West Brom - 4M

https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/extra-time-charlie-austin-interview/id1474544449?i=1000453091078 Extended interview with Stan Collymore here... An interesting listen, but doesn't really feel that Austin was challenged that much by Collymore... -
Still absolutely no idea why he went for that with his left foot.

All football tickets should have a £30 cap IMO.

It always happens in positions with no competition, look at Bertrand over the last few years too. Also the tactics we are playing at the moment kill our defence as a unit. We press with 3/4 players, the keeper chips it over those and then its 6 on 6 a lot of the time, with their midfield turning and running at us. We are giving the oppo so much time in the middle of the pitch, and we're relatively weak at the back. It's no surprise we are leaking goals. I think we have to go back to a 5-3-1-1 to stand any chance of keeping a clean sheet. We are nowhere near good enough to play 4 forward players. ----------------McCarthy ---------Danso Bednarek Yoshida Cedric----------Romeu-------------Bertrand ------------Hojbjerg---JWP ---------------Redmond ------------------Ings

Needs to be taken out of the firing line IMO, give McCarthy a go, and make Gunn earn his spot back. He’s a kid, and learning. Only thing I would say is it can’t be the keepers fault all the time, maybe it’s something to do with the dreadful defence he’s playing behind. Chelsea could have had 6 or 7 today.

You say that, but Tadic had no pace, and he was excellent for us.

When you're signing players in the market we buy in as below, you're going to have no guaranteed success. Agree that we have been worse recently, but that's probably because we're trying to sign players for the same price, but the market has moved substantially in the last few years. The players we were buying 4/5 years ago for £8-12m, are now going for upwards of £30m. - highly rated upcoming talent - 21-24 age bracket - £8m - £20m transfer fee - £30K - £60k wages

What is the tune for this? Not sure I've ever heard it?

Given the amount of chat regarding our support over the last week or so, thought I'd start a thread where fans can discuss the songs to sing (home and away!). Sure it will create some discussion, and probably plenty of sarcy responses as per. Probably missed a load, but at least they're all in one place, I'll update as we go. We pretty much always score, especially at home - the last time we didn't score at home was against Newcastle on the 27th October 2018. We've only not scored in one game this season - vs Burnley. Unfortunately we always concede!
-
1. It's a crap song 2. Seems to be about 4 words with a repetitive tune. 3. It's nothing to do with Southampton People sung it at Fulham and everyone was ignoring them and trying to start other songs, same thing happened at Sheff Utd. I do agree we don't have a huge amount of songs at the moment, but we have enough IMO. We rarely sing many of them, normally just sing OWTS.

What's your best saints XI using players since our PL return
Saint Garrett replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Saints
For me... -----------Forster Clyne Alderweireld VVD Shaw ------Morgan Wanyama Mane-----Lallana------Tadic -------------Pelle Very tough on Lovren, Bertrand, Davis, J-Rod and Lambert. The team above would have a great chance of finishing top 6 IMO. Probably wouldn't be far off top 4, but as we know they would have never played together, so kind of irrelevant. -
Yup, And also would be nice if not every song was about Pompey, it's boring. And if we don't have some fans that just drown out all others with crap songs like Dock of the Bay, like at Sheffield United, that would be nice.
-
They play decent football, without being a particularly good side. Think they'll pass round our midfield and they'll take their chances. After a very poor performance vs Bournemouth, and one we should have got a result out of this weekend, we need a big performance from them on Sunday. Would be tempted to stick McCarthy in as he's a better keeper. Valery to come in if Ralph/Cedric can't settle their differences. If we could just put this settled team out for a few weeks on the trott with no weird decisions (LB at RB, RB @ LB, CM @ LB, CB @ RB etc etc) Assuming Djenepo is still injured, would have him off the bench for this one anyway, and to be brought on for Boufal probably in one of the more attacking positions.
-
Left him at home for a rest.
-
Will Smallbone played a lot in pre season, so Ralph was clearly having a look at him. We also have Slattery who can play there on the odd occasion and Stephens / Danso if desperate. Problem is the massive drop off in quality rom Hojbjerg, Romeu, and JWP to the likes of Slattery/Danso/Stephens/Smallbone. We could probably cope for the odd game, but if Romeu or Hojbjerg got injured for a few months it would be a real concern.

---------------Gunn Cedric Bednarek Yoshida Bertrand --------------Romeu------------- -------JWP-----------Hojbjerg----- ------Boufal--Ings---Redmond

Seemed to be no trouble at all last night apart from this? Good news if true.
-
Not a brilliant RB, but fair play to him, goal very well taken last night.
-
We normally go to the london road brew house, it's pretty decent for sports.
-
Agree - clearly not good enough to play at full back, gets completely lost out there... At CB, who knows...he certainly seems to have the attributes to be a really good CB for us, but for us to be able to judge him, he needs to play 4/5 games in that position. Let be honest, he's bloody good for a 20 year old CB. Will certainly be interesting to see what happens with him this season. We're going to really kill his confidence playing him out of position.

McCarthy Cedric Yoshida Bednarek Bertrand PEH Romeu JWP Boufal Adams Ings First things first - play Bertrand
