You'd have hoped that a player of that age / quality would forget about the money and do what's best for his career. Move to a top quality club and compete at the highest level, move to a club on the up who he can be a key part in getting there, or one which is close to his heart. He's already absolutely minted, does he need the extra money? Probably not...Sure he could survive on £80k a week. Come on Gareth, do the right thing...come home

Yeah - but quite a few of those will go. If it's 6, then we only have to lose 6 of the 15 below... Can easily see us losing 6 of the "ex academy" players whether that's on loan or sold. Even when we had Fonte / Alderweireld / VVD we didn't play 4 forwards very often, and when we did, we'd play Schneiderlin and Wanyama in midfield who shield the defence considerably better than JWP and Hojbjerg. I'm a big fan of Hojbjerg, but he's not the best at protecting the defence, and neither is JWP. There is a reason why our results massively improved with Romeu in the midfield. If we can get a CB who is better than the current lot, and potentially an upgrade on Romeu, there is a chance we could play 4 up front, but think we're kidding ourselves thinking our players are currently good enough to play that system. We'd always need 3 to win a game.

We would get absolutely battered with that team. No pace at the back, ill-disciplined midfield and 4 forwards.

Depends how much of a good source the "ITK info" was from? As with any stories, when it's hearsay, it's normally heavily over exaggerated. I might be wrong, but I always take ITK info as a pinch of salt.

What's Bertrand done apart from not smile and be black? Slattery?
