Semedo likely to be one I would guess....! VVD will stay next year I reckon.
-
So what we thinking for tonight then.... Cedric, Bertand, Davis, Hojbjerg, Long, Redmond all back in? -----------Forster Cedric Fonte VVD Bertrand -----------Romeu------------ ------Hojbjerg-Davis-------- Redmond--Boufal--Long
-
Majority of those completely irrelevant if VVD really wants out...

Cheers, good finishes. -
Would say the last 2 times we lost our outstanding CB we improved.....(Toby & Lovren)

We parked not far from the ground last time, parking round there is not great, if you drive down towards (I think the holiday inn) there are a few car parks around there.

Wasnt Mangala £49m?
-
Surely he's the natural replacement for Kompany. Surprised we would stick a price on his head though, rather than letting all the top clubs enter a bidding war for him. The league has so few decent CB's, he's got to be in the £40m-60m bracket somewhere.

I don't see Defoe as being a viable option tbh. - Why would Sunderland let him go? - He would cost quite a lot - He doesn't fit the club philosophy of bringing in players to sell at a profit. Whether we should be looking at him is another question, but just don't see the club being interested in a player like Defoe.

100% don't think we will even be interested in Morgan, id have him back in a heartbeat though!
-
Already said he doesn't want to play for any other English clubs I thought? Rather take Morgan with an option to buy at the end of the season...

A list of the top 100 goalscoring strikers in europe in 2016... http://eurorivals.net/top-scorers.html Must be a few affordable options in there....!

I'd expect it was Ruben Semedo, we've been scouting him for months now.

Who has seen Saints score an away goal in Europe ?

Saw us draw blank at Milan and Midtyjalland,....never seen us score. -
0-0 or 0-1.

Is our style of play really that different?
Saint Garrett replied to verlaine1979's topic in The Saints
Playing a 'half court press' up until the half way line, and then letting the opposition dictate the ball is painful to watch at home. The whole team needed to move about 20 yards up the pitch last night. -
The positive thread (doom merchants need not read)
Saint Garrett replied to Tom28's topic in The Saints
Not sure I've seen many people say that. A lot of people I've spoken to have not warmed to Puel yet because his style of football is so negative and bad to watch -
Don't have problems with him, it's not like he doesnt try, he just lacks quality, not his fault. He's not good enough yet to be first choice for a Premier League side, which is why he spent a lot of last year on the bench for Norwich!

Gone backwards for sure. Hopefully not so far that we're in the mix for relegation. Pelle was always a short term replacement for Lambert, who was coming to the end of his career anyway, Tadic was a good replacement for Lallana and Mane was a great replacement for J-Rod while injured. We carried on playing the same way, with a very slight change. This season we've taken our goals away, and also a rock in midfield, and completely changed the system. Doesn't make it easy for new players to have to settle into a squad with players who are also learning something new. It was always going to be a struggle when we knew Puel was going to make big changes.

Might as well be manager too. Couldnt do a worse job than Puel.

Europa League Verdict (How was it for you love?)
Saint Garrett replied to Golac's Iron Gonads's topic in The Saints
If you're not going to take the competition seriously, then dont bother putting the effort in to qualify. Puel has got this competition completely wrong. -
You would like to think that given the noises coming out of the club, we'll stick out our best side and secure qualification. If they get one goal, we have to score two....also it will be interested to see whether Jose starts given the happenings this week.

If he was the finished article, and as good as we want him to be, he would have signed for one of the big boys. Let's face it, he's going to be inconsistent and incredibly frustrating at times. We just dont want to get to the point where we are relying on him to create to help us win. Fortunately we'll have Tadic back soon, Boufal is starting to show us what he is capable of, and Sims looks very lively and impressive. Surely the first choice "front 3" is Boufal/Austin/Tadic...?!
-
Formation doesn't suit him...he's better when he's starting central and can run the channels, and then has other players joining him. When he is stuck in a channel, he is far less dangerous IMO.
