  1. Fragile mentally and physically. Sell.
  2. As I've said before, his temperament and robustness are questionable and that is why we had a free run to sign him last year - the Man U and Arses do their homework and don't take risks
  3. Players had one eye on the beach. Always the same in big end of season tournaments. That and the fact that no one cares a toss about international football anymore - all they're interested in is Champions League and white Bentleys...
  4. It is telling that the OP asked about the 80s but got a thread back about the 70s! 80s hooliganism was a lot of show and no go.
  5. A splendid idea. We could enjoy playing: Merseyside United Thames Conglomerate AFC Manchester Ship Canal
  6. 6/10 Must try harder, not reaching his potential.
  7. I could not support a Red Bull corporate team. It would no longer be Southampton Football Club in any shape or form. One might argue that with the modern game and structure, it is already halfway there, but there remains a core SFC spirit whoever owns the club at any given time. This, I think, would wipe that out.
  8. If Saints are to progress in the manner Cortese wishes, we need to emphatically pull away and above the Swansea's of this world. So if Laudrup's correct, or even half correct , we need some heavy investment. I'd say no less than 5 significant incoming players over the summer would begin to shape us up.
  9. Anybody remember a particularly ill-tempered Saints v Palace match at the Dell in the late 70s? A warm sunny day but that was not reflected in Palace's mood. Palace tried to cripple the Saints team with scything fouls from the kick off. When Palace emerged after half time it was to the sound of 20000 chanting "animals! Animals! Animals!" Their fans were barely more cordial - a coach full broke down just off the Avenue and I remember looking on horrified but at the same time fascinated, as a long haired, flared jeaned, Palace thug with the then de rigeur scarf tied around his wrist, proceeded to kick and dent the door of a white escort van shouting and foaming at the mouth to the driver "are you Saarfampton?" Quite an education for a ten year old lad from the leafy villages of Hants.
  10. You're all barking up the wrong tree - Cortese's has inked a deal with Durex.
  11. these journos dont yet understand that the game has changed at Saints.
  12. ..and a certain Pochettino...
  13. A very promising early career stymied by injury, in the ultimate analysis.
  14. Do you think these refugees from Pompey will have the usual fervent zeal of the convert?
  15. The Cortese song is one that is so bad it is actually quite good, so long as it is sung with a knowing irony.
  16. I have been tipped-off that Cortese has specially commissioned Beretta to co-design our kit, with Adidas responsible for production. http://www.beretta.com/Apparel/Spring-Summer-2013/index.aspx?m=82&idc=414
  17. It is now clear that last summer's lethargy in the transfer market was because NC knew NA was temporary and didn't want to buy a load of NA's targets, rather wanted to wait for 1) MP and 2) secure Premier League status. Expect some serious outlay on serious players this summer.
  18. A culture of low horizons, no ambition and low expectations has always pervaded Comprehensive schools.
  19. Hoddle spotted at Totton Asda buying petrol.
  20. Glen Hoddle, with Eileen Drewery as his right hand woman.
  21. Good summary.
  22. Pass me that sick-bag will you please, quickly. Akin to a bunch of school kids chanting the headmaster's praise. No, no, no. While we're at it, can we have a chant lauding the Chief Constable of Hampshire for his force's sterling efforts protecting us from the likes of the thugs from Portsmouth and Millwall in recent years?
  23. Signed
