Because Perry is too old now and Thomas is (whilst solid) a liability. He will give away far too many pens/free-kicks if he plays regularly, and if you watch when he challenges for the ball whether on the ground or in the air, he ALWAYS goes in with his elbow at neck height.

This. He is still only 19. He's better than Nathan Dyer was at that age, and i'm sure many would love to take him back considering what he's achieving with Swansea right now.

Maybe a bit exaggerated, but he doesn't seem as good. In particular last season he played it short to LB/RB a lot, whereas this season i've seen it happen twice. I appreciate that last year it didn't work very well, but we have a much better team now.
