I'd say he's got it spot on so far. Using the full amount of group games to rotate as much as possible knowing it would still be in out hands is a stroke of genius...
-
Yoshida will play for VVD, McCarthy for Forster and probably the two fullbacks will change.
-
The three away games are all very tough, especially Bournemouth who are playing well. I'd take 7 points if offered right now, on the basis that we are 7 points off the amount we had in mid january last season so would still be well ahead of ourselves.
-
Surprises me that Koeman says he doesn't know about him, he was outstanding for the youth teams whilst Koeman was here.
-
Who does? Barca, Madrid, Bayern?
-
Can we just stop the knee jerk reactionary posts to every individual game altogether and view things with a bit of perspective? Still convinced things will look even better on january 1st.

Hesketh wasn't given a chance to follow up and has since got injured. Sims is 19, not 16/17. We've had first team regulars younger than that, and not too long ago.
-
Been excited to see him in the first team since his exceptional performance against Pompey in the youth cup a few years back. Should keep his place V Palace if you ask me.
-
Says you. Yet stats are becoming increasingly important at all levels of coaching, scouting and recruiting.

Olomola!

Lets see how the scousers react when he throws a tantrum because Klopp wants to keep him.
-
Yep, Milan was still a great trip, a result would have just turned it into an unreal one.
-
Out of interest how many starts does he have compared to other CMs in the league? In all competitions I mean. With the added games he probably isn't far off playing just as much as others.

Nothing to add except "modulator" [emoji23]

Feel free to find the quote as I was pretty sure we'd lose.
-
I think I remember reading a quote from Les where he said they teach the 4-3-3 formation because it's the easiest to adapt into other styles, i.e you can very easily make it a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 diamond as we've seen the last two seasons.
-
Very selective memory then, it wasn't that long ago we were lamenting the fact that we were creating 15+ chances a game but hardly putting any away.
-
We should remember that it's still in our hands. Look at our Prem fixtures coming up as well - on the 1st of january we could conceivably be into the knockouts of the Europa, the semis of the league cup and back in the top 8 of the Prem pushing for the top 6.

Frustrating thing is, you look at the players we have available and they look like they would fit perfectly in the formation from last season (if not the style - nobody to hold the ball up like Pelle did). But plenty of scope for getting the ball wide to Redmond and Tadic to creating scoring opportunities for Austin or Boufal coming in late. -
Earlier in the season we were passing the ball quickly with one touch play through the centre of the park and it was creating chances, I don't remember us doing that at all since the Leicester game now.
-
He's getting more than enough game time. Might be time to face the fact that either A. He's never going to reach his potential again or B. He was a one season wonder who just had the perfect team around him. Lest we forget that the season before the one where he broke into the England team, people on here were slating him because of his poor performances and calling him a waste of money.
-
How is Leicesters performance in the league compared to last season, how have Spurs done in the Champions League...if you're going to try and make a point at least use decent arguments.
-
Inter when we played them away and Prague at home yes, but other than that they've been perfectly capable, good sides. Prague played some good stuff in the second half today. Worth taking note of the celebrations of Beer Sheva and Prague when they beat us as well, English teams are always a huge scalp and much more effort is put in from opponents in these games. If we get to the knockout stages you'll see Bertrand, Cedric, Romeu, Tadic, Austin all starting IMO.

Managing them so easily that only 3 incorrect calls from the linesman has stopped us getting in. -
