OK so I can see the laptop screen a bit clearer this morning. What a great performance. 10 years of being pretty much crap and embarrassed at times when people asked me who I supported. Pub was absolutely rammed last night with fans watching EL Classico, we had regular our happy corner. Dragged a mate (total neutral) down the pub to watch last night and his comment "Holy Sh1t you were right, you guys really are GOOD" Also enjoyable to note that quite a few of the El Classico crowd watched the last 20 mins of our game as well and came over for a chat along the lines of "How long have you been playing like that?" Totally awesome performance. And absolutely LOVED the fact that we were actually SINGING for a change. Champions League we're 'avin a larf, Red Army and even the SRL song! Totally made the day when the Irish Pub singer stuck a rousing chorus of OWTS into his set at the end of the game. Which then randomly brought a couple of Scandinavian lads into the main bar - Saints fans from Norway (I think) here on holiday hadn't even known the game was on! Crazy night sluggish morning.

VW this is a good post. But it is also an example of something that really annoys me about the world these days. Opinions have RIGHTLY changed in the UK in recent years regarding Discrimination of all forms. It did NOT however come about overnight or by use of a Magic Wand. It came by Education and Understanding, backed up by (often) Contentious Lobby Groups and Legislation. So, I actually find your Post to be Offensive and extremely non-PC. You are applying YOUR values to a different Nation, Different People and Different Culture and demanding "Sanctions". That IMHO is self serving Preaching and something which The Civilised world has done for Centuries and caused nothing but chaos (From the Missionaries through to Obama telling the Iranians/Syrians/This week's enemy how to behave) It is not the Clubs or the fans that should be punished, pressure must be brought on Governments to apply laws properly - oh wait, in Russia they have - see Olympics & Gays. You think that this is bad and Somebody MUST be punished. Sorry that STINKS of Western Arrogance and hypocrisy ingrained by centuries of telling the world what to do. THAT is not the answer, the change is a Cultural one in these countries. UK promotes Multi-Culturalism and yet you will not tolerate somebody else's (wrong) culture? FIFA, UEFA and The Olympic Committee have to lead the change in the field of Sport. It is a simple task. Tell participating Nations that they (ie The Government of that Country) have to pass laws, abide by and implement a basic Multi-Cultural Charter or they do not get in to their events. It will take a long time but it is a heck of a lot better than a knee jerk isolated reaction each time somebody does something that people find offensive. Racism is offensive. But to some uneducated people it is no worse than farting in an elevator. You do NOT change that behaviour by rants and fines ALONE.

The flaw with Politics and Democracy is People. All the ideals are perfect on both sides but then get screwed up by people and greed. The Socialist example of Russia with the Elite in their Dachas and their cronies rolling round while the masses struggled to live on Beetroot Soup. The Capitalist Example of Banking - the only difference is that the masses got to foot the bill later on. Thousands of factories in China spewing out Pollution and making zillions of tons of complete junk (but cheap junk) that The West buy in Primark and the East buy because a non Android Approved device is all they can afford even if it doesn't work properly. Markets full of garbage Plastic Toys that would kill children while some of you get raped for Green Taxes that are the equivalent of a fart in a Jacuzzi compared to the rest of the planet. (But oh no you'll pay them because you are doing your bit) Saudi Arabia (one of THE most closed countries on earth) sending Convicted Murders to Syria to fight in a Jihad so that their version of Democracy can be introduced. The biggest Democracy on earth siding with one of the least Democratic countries to Ostracize a Nation that at least has SOME form of Democracy to prop up a Nation that helps to pay for the Gravy train in Washington. Politicians in the UK who are only interested in staying in the Gravy Train with sound bites. The whole system is screwed up over the whole planet. The CONCEPTS are fine but somehow the implementation has gone all wrong. Like Brand says, everyone can see the weaknesses, finding a solution is the problem. Single Term Politicians might be a start..... Maximum terms of 8 years for all the Sir Humphries of the world another. And make Political lobbying and donations a criminal offence would help. ???? Honestly it doesn't matter what I think, it's politics, someone else has a different view... Ah so that may be the solution, stop having opinions or reject everyone else's as being wrong. Yeah, I'll go live with Mugabe... Or maybe I'll just go back to doing what I can for my family, friends and community around me and trying to do the right thing and leave the crooks, liars, cheats, bling merchants, celebrities and con-men to face the real truth when they die and rot in Hell. We need a Star Trek Universe of shared ambition and resources....

FFS Turks stick with the facts. That was 3 weeks ago not 2. OK back to reality, the point he actually made is that there are 3 teams playing tikki takka pressing football properly at the moment. GOOD teams struggle against it as it disrupts their rhythm. Bad teams can play the get out hoof ball in behind the attacking FB's (he'd seen teams try that in Germany). MP alluded to this in his Presser today when he talked about the risks of our system and Swansea for one nearly hurt us with Dyer v Fox as a match up He actually compared us (AND Bayern & Barca) to the the Crazy Gang days of Wimbledon (blame BTF's thread in the Lounge for this) but we are playing a Disruptive style of football which when combined with new fitness levels is causing teams problem. (Note we aren't playing crazy gang hoofball simply that it is a new "method" - the Bielsa way of playing) The point being that other teams are struggling to cope with our style and variation of play and our fitness levels. Wimbledon's style carried them to punch above their weight (in a very negative way of course) and he feels that us Barca & Bayern were the first to get this new system working THIS season and that other teams have problems. Now here is my question. Did the idea of this style come from "The Southampton Way" or did it come solely from MP? CLEARLY we are much better at it under MP and the players have totally bought into it, but was this a Football Development decision or was it because Mourinho or whoever recommended MP to Cortese?

There's our big annual IT Trade Show in Dubai this week. In reality it is a chance to NETWORK. (ie get invites to parties with free booze) I'm having a great time being kind of independent this year walking onto Exhibition stands and asking So, what do you see as the major Disruptive Technology in your Market Space this year....
