I don't think anyone doubts his skill & engine and core technique or his importance to us. What many I have spoken to doubt is his "killer instinct". In and around the box he has a habit of always seeming to want/need a second touch - to be fair this season that now seems to be a half a touch. The ISSUE is that without that and with a killer instinct he COULD be so much better and certainly then England class. Whether it is a speed of thought issue or a mental lack of clinical-ness I don't know. To step up for us AND England his assists from around the box need to increase and he needs to start burying chances such as the one he had on Saturday. He is a very fine player for us, but he IS frustrating when it is so clear he is so close to being better.

Here is some context with regards to "The Summer" It is bonkers hot, in mid June midday temperatures will get up around 40C. A bunch of non-Saints supporting mates of mine down here believe Jose is priceless at the moment. They all have him in their Fantasy League teams and have been cleaning up points left right & centre. Must admit, I never expected him to start this season, let alone look as good as he has done. He is also looking composed on the ball and has started to break into the oppo box from open play - something he did very early on yesterday against Liverpool - quite a shock to see him trying to get on the end of a through ball to the right side... And for me the icing on the cake was the wonderful slow motion dive to get a free kick towards the end against WHU which JWP whipped in & we could/should have scored from - pure class.
