I normally hate conspiracy therories but to be onset, I really can't think of a genuine reason why he should of broken up the best center half pairing we've had for years to put one of them on then bench while playing an absolute waiste of space in his position. Osvaldos mysterious leg injury in training, Shaw fit but rested, I'm starting to wonder if there's been some sinanagins going on in the camp that's affecting 1st team selection, I really hope I'm wrong but I really don't think a premier league team would have a center half on the bench for three games who's not fit to play a part?

Great early Christmas present for your family, congratulations! - need more good news story's on TSWF, might balance off the doom merchants :-).

Living in the US I hear loads of "Soccer" radio over here, Klinsmans just signed a four year extension and had his position upgraded to Director of Football, he's lived in LA for twenty years and is well settled, he's never going to. So slightly interested. Shows how the rumor mill works though, no one could understand last week why he was given such a ulcerative deal before the WC, seems even US soccer knew AV. Was on the chopping board very soon!

I think he's being played in the wrong position ;-)

Apparently potty was a lot more ****ed with Boruc than he showed publicly, I wonder what the chances are he might be on the bench on Sunday?

General info, I use a proxy server called tunnel bear, google it, first 100mb free then it costs $30 a year but I've been using it for 13 months now and it's never failed. I live in the US and (sad I know) catch up on eastenders every day. It will get around any geo blocking.

Was flying home yesterday so only just seen the game on demand this morning. - my thoughts, Arsenal looked the best team we've played so far this season by a fair margin. We only get our victories when we have our normal 11 playing, doesn't look the same team without Lovren. I think we looked a bit jaded in comparison to the last big away game at Liverpool, we gave Arsenal more respect, wonder if last years tonking was still in some of the players minds subliminally. Get a whole week together training, put out our best 11 and we should give Cheski a right old battle. COYR!

I've never seen the replays of the goals at the skate away game in the relegation season, we were on the train the OB held back so we were outside when the first two went in, can't ever imagine being able to bare watching that again, and showing my age, (was about 9 at the time) the Polish goal at Wembley that put us out the World Cup in the seventies. I cried.

My first game was a 3-3 draw home to Coventry in 1966, I was three and my Dad barged me to the front of the East Stand/ Archers Rd corner, (wired memory I know) that was the first of hundreds of memorable visits to the Dell. The 1976 cup run, the European nights, Anderlecht in particular, giant killings by the dozen. Ground rebuilds. I used to stand in the cages on the Archers terrace, squashed in like sardines. Channons testimonial night was the biggest crowd I think I ever saw in the Dell, what a night that was. Only downs were as I got older and slightly more sensible, the lack of half time facilities such as somewhere to have an emergency dump used to cause alarm. In the last couple of years of the Dell, I was in the fortunate position of being able to be the main sponsor of the "junior Saints" . One of the perks was us having a couple of advertising boards. My last memory of the Dell was seeing some nipper chuffed to nuts cos he"d liberated my company's advertising board at the end of the Brighton friendly. My uncles still got a turf in his garden, or so he claims. - we probably wouldn't be the clud and fans we are now if we didn't have that heritage behind us.

Anyone named their pet with a Saints related name?
diggers replied to chocco boxo's topic in The Saints
Not a pet but I got away with naming my son "Owen" most people got it all the time I lived in Soton, now We live in US it makes for awkward moments when the now 5yr old Owen tries to explain to his new school mates why his Dad called him after his Soccer clouds traditional chant. -
I agree to an extent that his substitutions are appropriate but I was trying to point out that I think we're a bit of a one trick pony (the trick is working exceptionally well at the moment) If we needed to go 4-4-2 or three at the back for a fifteen minute period of the game, so even sit back and start playing deep to draw opponents onto us to catch them on the break, do you think he has shown that he can switch things around during play, not at half time significantly yet? Dont get me wrong, I think we are playing the best football I've seen since 84 do doubt at all, and I am as hopeful as any on here that we finish top six, but the thread is about how desirable MoPo is as a manager and the possibility of loosing him and I'm just trying to make the point that, IMO, he's not shown the veriety of tactics, yet, to put himself up there with the Mourinio's, Wenger's, Benitez's or dare I say SAF's of the premier League.
-
IMO, the hallmark of an exceptional manager is having the ability to identify when and why a pre planned system/tactic isn't coming off during a match and being able to make real time changes during the match to the system. Chelsea in the cup when Rafa was in charge is an example. Saints went 1-0 up and we were all over them, Cue Rafa on the sidelines shouting and gesticulating and within ten minutes the whole game flipped and they make us look stupid. I'm not convinced that as good as he undoubtedly is MoPo could do that. He knows his continental style inside out but I worry we will get worked out soon and that's when we'll see if he's the kind of manager we should worry about loosing or not.

As I understand it, a charge gives priority to certain creditors in the event of a default. Possibly the liebherr's are somehow, through a third party, protecting themselves??
-
I'm convinced there was only 150 of them going round in circles like apahe's circling the wagons lol
-
BTW, convinced the coward disallowed the goal because he screwed up and gave a corner when it was blatantly a goal kick!
-
48% possession at home, 2-0 win, thats the sort of performance we'll need if we are going to stay top 6.

Daring to dream - What would we need to do to reach the Champions League?

Since moving to the USA I have been very surprised by the football knowledge of some Yanks I've come across. Theres a radio station dedicated to soccer I listen to everyday and last week a football fan from New York called in to a chat show. He said he had a theory about the top four of the EPL. He had actually drawn up some kind of spreadsheet based on his theory that the teams who finish with the most points out of the mimi league of Chelsea, Spuds, Arsenal, Manure, City, and Liverpool would always finish in the top four positions irrespective of the rest of the season. This stuck in my head and I recon that the Yank is actually spot on. Its the amount of points that a team manages to win off those six teams that will dictate the end of season top four, so, if Saints really ever do have dreams of breaking into the elite, then we should look to measure how many points we take off them. I know, 3 pts away at Liverpool is encouraging, but its the real challenges that lay ahead that will get the wheat sorted from the chaff. From what I've seen so far, (thanks to NBCS), I don't fear any of the so called big six. All IMHO of course. -
For me, it's a question of overall team style, if the idea is to appear nippy, with a harassing, fast passing free flowing style then I personally think Jack Cork is more in keeping with that system. I think VW seems to slow the play down too much, I know it's his job to break the opponents attacks up and I think he's excellent at that, my impression is that the rest of last seasons players want to move the ball about faster than VW is used to.

I recon the Squadra red is the best of a boring bunch, slightly more retro Saints.

Hi SS. I know you were very helpful before. I am starting to think I might have the wrong package or something? The game was definitely not on during the game, but it was available on demand to watch as a reply that evening, not that I waned to after I knew the score. I called Comcast 10 minutes into the game and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about. I read them the NBC sports press release about live coverage of all 320 EPL games but i might as well of been speaking to a Marshian,. actually, I think I was. I'll try again tomorrow. I did follow your instructions to the letter, on demand-sports & leisure -premier league. All that was available was short films about each team.

Your favourite Saints players that weren't popular?
diggers replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
Dave Prutton, never quite fulfilled his potential. He's a friend of my family now and a top bloke by all accounts. -
Any help would be appreciated. The first game I've been at home for (Lauderdale) this season and I settle myself in front of my new xfininty box to enjoy the Norwich game but does it show up? Does it fluk! I spent 75 minutes on the phone to some muppet at Comcast who didn't really understand what the EPL was lest alone Norwich or Southampton, so in the end, with 10 minutes to go I gave up. Not knowing the score I was streaming, when I knew the score it might of been a blessing, but that's not the point. Can anyone save my blood pressure before kick off tomorrow by being me find the game? I'm sure it's me being a twonk. On another note, does anyone know if the England game is going to be replayed on US tvA anywhere? Thanks in advance Diggers x

Has anyone got decent 76 cup final memorabilia?
diggers replied to chocco boxo's topic in The Saints
Got a yellow and blue top hat made out of hardboard I think? My brother made it while he worked at Fords, I was only 13 on the day so I didn't feel such a twonk wearing it, on the day, there were hundreds on them there, suppose that must of been when Fords Swaythling started to decline LOL -

Eric Martin - One of our best keepers IMHO Steve Williams - Pure Class Egil Ostenstad - Had some great games at the dell Eyal Berkovic - As long as it wasn't raining Fabrice Fernandez - Ran rings round himself as well as the opposition. -
My sympathy is tempered by the stories of QE2 cruises and concord flights that Moreen used to boast about when she worked in Foxy Lady next to sakks.
