  1. There were 15553 at Fratton for their massive promotional 6 pointer with Bristol Rovers on Saturday. Sounds reasonable but 2795 were away fans, leaving less than 12000 of the bestest rattling around inside the stadium.

  3. A friend of mine, Mark Sanderson, has written a biography of the man whose FA Cup Final winning goal made him one of our most legendary players. The book is coming out on Monday 2nd May - 40 years and 1 day since that famous moment - and features input from many of the people who were close to Bobby including family members, ex players (Mick Channon, Alex Stepney and Martin Buchan among others), many of his friends and maybe the odd person from this message board. Mark has spent years researching the book and has conducted many interviews, venturing deep into some of the less salubrious parts of Portsmouth for a large number of them, gaining information from people that have not before had the chance to share their memories of Bobby. This is not the story of the 76 cup run, that has been extensively covered in Tie A Yellow Ribbon, but is a celebration of Bobby's life as someone who managed to transcend the rivalry between the club he played for and the place of his birth, and whose goal sparked spontaneous street parties in both cities. I think many would agree that as a Saints fan Mark deserves our respect for his efforts in bringing the story of Bobby's life into print and for spending a great deal of his time sat in various backstreet Portsmouth pubs surrounded by diehard Pompey fans to gain a chunk of the material. More information can be found at the link below. Keep an eye out for further updates as the book gets closer to release. http://bobbystokes.wordpress.com
  4. The original and still the best
  5. With any luck we'll annoy them by winning at White Hart Lane on 7th May.
  6. Shocking marking at the back from Villa who up until then had largely been dominating possession
  7. Without Long we might have had Mane or Austin up front, maybe one of them would have scored instead? We've sacrificed some forward play to make us more solid but it's working so it doesn't matter. Did Pelle playing against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge make it easy for them?
  8. The Arsenal win keeps us 13 points behind top place. We can still win this!
  9. I don't actually mind Arsenal, as far as the bigger clubs go they are definitely the lesser of the evils. What was Wasilewski doing cleaning out Monreal? Should have been a straight red and he cost them a point.
  10. Listening to 5live on the way home they briefly discussed transfer fees and said £12 million is about average these days. I'd say Long is an about average Premier League player so what's the issue?
  11. At the final whistle Austin turned straight to Long and apologised. Long smiled and they hugged before coming over to our fans and celebrating. From where I was it looked an easy win. They barely had a chance other than the one Siggurdson blasted over just before half time from a good position. Van Dijk MOM I think, he's stupidly good. Pelle was gash. He lost the ball numerous times due to carelessness. I'd definitely leave him out of the next game.
  12. A family near me routinely get crisps and dips out during the game. I'm waiting for us to score during this period to see doritos and hummus flying around block 26.
  13. This move by Liverpool can only be good news for fans of clubs yet to announce their prices. Anyone now raising theirs will be dropping a massive PR blunder. 5live had a good discussion earlier, Tony Pulis was on saying clubs should give away fans bigger allocations and £10 tickets to improve the atmosphere. Henry Winter then said something similar. It seems the media are finally waking up to the fact that atmospheres are dropping and that this looks bad for the Premier League's image when broadcasters are paying billions for the TV rights. The consensus was that away fans spark the atmosphere and we need to encourage as many of them to go to games as possible.
  14. We recruit players from 6 onwards. My youngest's friend is in the Academy and he was only 7 the other day.
  15. Last time I parked there it was up a bloody steep hill about 10 mins walk away on the other side of the retail park.
  16. I hate it when I miss a game. Absolutely hate it. It puts me in a really bad mood and I'm awful at watching us on a stream, I get really anxious and easily annoyed in contrast to when I'm in the stadium when I feel relaxed and at ease with the situation whatever the score is.
  17. Read this in the programme on Saturday and Forster was cracking me up, he seems like a really funny bloke.
  18. I reckon they'll freeze season tickets and add a quid to match day prices. They don't need to go to much effort on season tickets because I imagine the vast majority will renew anyway.
  19. If you're coming out to Hamble go to the Bus Stop cafe on Hound Road. It's an old single decker red bus which is now a cafe. They do a great breakfast, plus your American visitors will think it's cute
  20. The headline states it as fact. Read the article though and it becomes more of a "my mate down the pub told me...." situation. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/pompey/pep-guardiola-nearly-joined-pompey-1-7203250
  21. Eh? I didn't reply to Dalek's post.
  22. Put him on ignore then. Your posts responding to his are just as formulaic and pointless.
  23. Started OK yesterday but then rapidly tailed off. Sadly any good work he did later in his shift (and there was definitely some) was overshadowed by the times he gave away cheap possession when we desperately needed to keep the ball. Some of that can be explained by his lack of match sharpness, the rest just by the fact he is often frustratingly sloppy.
  24. I'd rather have Romeu
