Adrift on brown stuff creek without a paddle...
Fan The Flames replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
ahhhh summer is coming; girls in short skirts, the sound of a lawn mower and an Alpine domesday thread. -
I'm not bothered eitherway as the CEO role is over exaggerated on here. It is truley deluded to think the we are his appointment away from a CL spot. In his last interview the thing that made me smile was where ne said no one left under his tenure and then he admits that he didn't recieve any offers from anyone.

I liked the second goal against Leyton O, really started to believe we were going up. Although we lost the next game to Rochdale.

St Chalet is a nomination for the 2014 Transfer Window Originality Award for the phrase 'Drive them there myself'.

Nor was anyone else on here before you jumped it with your Bistol rovers bore.

Nor did you. I cant remember you saying how unfair it was that we have taken BR's best player. I know this is one of your favourite stick to beat other Saints fans with, god knows you have mentioned it thousands of times. But I think you pulled it out too early in this instance. Transfers have been around since the beginning of football, the better players migrate to the better clubs and the selling club gets compenstated for it and in a lot of instances the selling club is grateful for the money. No one is complaining about that. What was complained about earlier in the thread is that the top of English football is slowly becoming a closed shop; it is becoming increasingly more difficult to get in to the top berths which are occupied by the same clubs year in year out. The same clubs then get the big money which maintains their dominance etc etc. So where does a club like Southampton go. You can't try and organically break in because you will lose your best players to the bigger clubs, so it takes a lot of cash ie Man City and Chelsea. Randy Learner and Mike Ashley have realised its a busted flush and are trying to walk away. Even the Leicester chairman said he will have to spend 180m to get anywhere near it.

Talk about trying to read between the lines and jumping to conclusions; see post 14 and relax.

It's interesting Spurs' wording, "We agreed an 18-month contract with a break clause at the end of the season and we have now exercised that option" used to distinguish it from yet another sacking.

I would go for experience; Alex Ferguson, Barry Fry or Brian Clough.

Sam Gallagher to gills on a season long loan

It's certainly not in the papers up here. -
No it's like a thousand threads on here its about Turkish desperately trying to prove how brilliant he is.

Lauging at all the people saying how cringy it will be; when I was a teenager living in Brighton and going to the Goldstone, getting on the pitch for the last game of the season was never about celebrating the season achievements it was just about the fun of getting on the pitch. I don't know what you did in the Dell in those days. So if a load of kids want to run on to the pitch good for them. Also I don't think the stewards/police will let the Man U fans on the pitch as well.

Are Sunderland the new Old Southampton. Bottom three for a long part of the season, late run with decent results against some big teams, just missing relegation before the last day. Also red and white stripes, black shorts and a healthy approach to the cups.

Seeing him cry at the CL semi was a season highlight for me.

Its ****in brilliant. -
Because you would have to live up north.

It's not being pedantic to point out, however brilliant this season is we have achieved better in a lot of our lifetimes. The team of the 80's remains my benchmark and we have fallen short ever since. 69 points would be good for a 5th or 6th place this year, that surley is a realistic ambition for a club of our size in todays Prem. That's 5 more wins, increasing the win ratio by a third, it's an ask but one that shouldn't be beyond us.
-
We got 77 points in 84, which is 69 points pro-rata for a 38 game season, so a way to go yet.

Pipe dream I think. It would be nice to think that you could amass a group of lads who have money a bit lower down their list of priorities but it wont happen. To me footballers seem to be driven by their status within the football bubble and being on big money then at a big club is how the status is measured. We will continue to lose players until we are within 10% of the top wages. I cant think what Ronaldo has done wrong other than a few lairy haircuts, he has worked hard to become a top player.

A paper did a report on Millwall racist chanting and claimed to hear 'Sieg Heil' being chanted. Until someone pointed out it was the Brighton fans singing 'Seagulls'.
