It was Lowes constant eye on the stock market listing that persuaded him to appoint Wigley & Poortvliet, imo. Richard Chorley always spoke sense.

So, how much does somebody have to stump up ??
Fan The Flames replied to Smirking_Saint's topic in The Saints
We don't need 30 million, we only have a debt of 4.4million and a mortgage on the ground. The debt only needs to be reduced so our out goings can be met by our income. Wipe our our overdraft plus a few million and we can start servicing the mortgage and cover the out goings again. If we go under because of this small amount of debt I will be astonished. I'm doing the lotto tonight and if I win I will pay the overdraft, job done and back to the business of staying up. -
Southampton 1885 gets my vote big time and kick off the first game at 8.25.

Well said LC.

I think there is more solidarity between fellow Hampshire boys under the surface than there is hatred. They might laugh about it, but they don't realy want to see us go bust. I would give them a donation if they really needed it.

But they still exist, a slight name change and a drop down a division or two maybe but they are still a club and are now 5th in Serie A.

Let's have some names of potential new owners then...

Fiona Philips bangs on about Chelsea at every opportunity, she has dumped us good and proper. -
No club of our size has dropped out of the league. We won't be the first not for the paltry debt of £4million.

Temporarily suspended on AIM. Radio 5 Live believes this is because there are trying to sort something out and will report back later today. Does this mean something BIG is happening today. Radio 5 segwayed from Newcastle to Southampton with Kevin Keegan, will we ever buy the European footballer of the year again. Good Old LM.

What is wrong with the South Coast clubs?

Of course it is the north west, cheers. -

Some good stats there, so it seems that the average Southamptonite has to spend his hard earned keeping the car on the road than keeping the club afloat. Maybe they need the car to go to home games at Old Trafford. The trouble with the South Coast is that London sucks people away from their home towns with the lure of jobs and better pay, this aligned with the low pay of Southampton results in more Saints fans not living in the city. -

I really hate this Southern inferiority complex about being less passionate about football, it shows a complete lack of understanding of our own region and ignorance of the north. As a southern set of fans are we really only interested when things are going well or in a world cup year when football is fashionable, would we really rather be wondering the aisle of garden centres at three o’clock or washing the 4x4. It’s a ******** stereotyping just as much as the northern fan who has never moved further than five miles from the football ground, only ever wears the club kit and has nothing more in their life and nothing else to do on a Saturday afternoon then go to the football because god bless them they work hard manual jobs all week and their only pleasure is too drink and watch football on a Saturday. Get real people the South Coast clubs are small to medium size clubs that have their equivalent northern club who have struggled like we are and have fans as passionate as ours. The south has the same class divides as the north so the answer to why the south (apart from London) does not have a Man United is not the lack of working class following. In my opinion the answer lies in where the power was located and that is the North East. The football league was a North East league and they made sure that their teams were more successful. The first set of teams Blackpool, Preston, Blackburn, Burnley and then there was a power shift to the city sides of Manchester and Liverpool. The southern league was equally as strong, witnessed by Tottenham winning the FA Cup and our two appearances in the final. The leagues should have been merged but the North East mandarins made sure we were shut out for years and once the Football League got hold of the London clubs (because they feared if they stayed in the southern league, the SL may overtake them in importance) it was all over for the Southern League. The teams were then forced to start as third division sides and with one up/one down and two up/two down the mobility in the league was limited. We were a successful Southern League side and if we were allowed to join the league in a position in line with our ability it wouldn’t have taken us so long to get to the top flight and we would be a bigger and more successful side today. We were righting the wrong with our 27 years stint in the top flight until Mr Lowe put a stop to that. -
Blackstock carrer total of 41 goals, 1 every 3 games is not bad. Don't slag him of or it will come back to haunt us.

Funnily enough I had just that conversation this very morning with a colleague who is a Charlton fan worried about going down and not coing straight back up just ike Leeds.

In my opinion it will stay like this until the last game against Forest and that will be the only must win.

Why are you being so provocative, some people thought BD good do a job here, no one claimed he was the next Fergie.

I fail to see where I called you a love luvvie, if you read the substance of my post you would see that I attempted to counter your premise, but instead you dismissed it under some pretence that I am blinkered, poor debating skills in my opinion. All I know is that every time Pearson is mentioned you trot out his CV in what seems as an attempt to highlight his inadequacies. I’m saying that maybe he is good enough and that the football managerial gravy train hasn’t allowed him his chance to shine, only time will tell. You also claim that internal appointments are inherently problematic whereas it may simply be the case that the internal appointees are just not good enough, but I see you chose to ignore this part of my post. So try reading a bit more before you hide behind "your post is rubbish because you claim that I love Lowe", it's very lame.
-
Your premise is it’s the act of internally appointing someone that is problematic, whereas I believe the problems are because the internal appointments are generally far less capable than the out going manager. They are second in charge or coach or youth manager and not the manager because they are not good enough, the manager is sacked and they are still not good enough, the whole football world knows it but the chairman takes the cheaper/friendlier choice. However in our latest manager Wotte is more experienced than Jan and in my opinion more capable, so your theory is so wrong. I don’t know why you lot keep knocking Pearson, well I do it’s because he wasn’t a Lowe appointment. Only time will tell if Pearson is as **** as you keep trying to make him out, but my theory is football isn’t very good at recognising who would be a good manager and who wouldn’t, that’s why Roeder keeps getting jobs, so it’s no shame it took Pearson all those years to get going again. I really hope he does well.

It would have been less effort to move than it would to spark your computer up and type your OP. How about compromise, people know the the standing is an issue amoung some fans. Its a valid issue in my opinion, so if it annoys you the right thing to do would be to move the few yards to a sitting area. I'm sorry Steve your point is very weak.

We could be looking at gates of 8-10,000 next season.

Arsenal were only 2500 off capacity. The empty seats were because of the rain.
