Steve - out of sheer idle curiosity, did you plan to change the basic colour scheme as part of the software upgrade as a conscious decision to make it look 'new' or is this just how it comes 'out of the box' when one upgrades the vbulletin software? At the end of the day it's "only a forum" so the colour scheme is largely irrelevant but I do sense a consensus that something closer to the previous less garish style would be well received. Not a whinge, just an observation. Cheers

No. Businessmen and politicians alike use the "I've no intention of..." line all the time. Note that the use the present tense. This allows them to change their mind when 'circumstances' change and thus refute the charge of "lieing" and, no, I'm not saying that cortese has conciously used that technique above. Just an observation that it happens often.

why jump to the conclusion that those of us open minded enough to consider all eventualties aren't "enjoying the ride"? It is possible to be 'grumpy old man' about a possible outcome whilst being more cheerful than Christopher Biggins about the here and now. Happy days

Being the conspiracy theorist 'par excellence' that I am, I've long held what you describe above as a feasible possiblity. We have no tangible evidence that proves that Markus is the cuddly benevolent owner that is portrayed to us. I guess that just leaves blind faith as our only guardian on this journey to the promised land. You will inevitably get slated for daring to suggest such a hypothesis but I think there's one thing we ought to agree on - that both Cortese and Liebherr are doing this as an investment opportunity for profit rather than as some philantrophic hobby. IMHO of course... :-)

I believe he supports a local football club beginning with 'P'. Ergo Southampton fans don't like him.... I don't pick up 'Southern' TV either and thus my memories of him are of a semi-amusing presenter of 'How?'

Because there are are two pools.... SEEDED and UNSEEDED teams. There are 15 slots in both pools for northern teams and 20 slots in both pools for southern teams. They simply divide the unseeded teams into two geographic halves and the same with the seeded teams. Thus you can get a seeded team geographically further north in the southern seeded pot than a team further south in the unseeded northern pot. Dusty Bin anyone?

Since the upgrade yesterday, the search facility doesn't appear to work when searching for words in past posts/threads. Searching for words in past thread titles only seems to work fine. Also, and I think this may be connected, when clicking on a link in pre-upgrade thread (that links back to another SWF thread) the 'linked-to' thread does not appear.... For example, search for 'monkey' using the advance forum search and you get nowt. However, search for 'monkey chicken petting zoo saintsweb' in Google and the following link pops up: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=14620&page=237. But click on that and all you get is the number of users logged on, however page 237 of the thread in the link (the Pompey Takeover Thread as it happens) does indeed exist. And that post links to another SWF thread which, again, doesn't bring up the thread. I do need to be able to search for all threads with 'monkey' in them as often as possible. Thanks :-)

Port Vale are classed as 'unseeded' and there are 15 slots available in the Northern unseeded section. All 15 teams in that section are further north than Port Vale.
