  1. Ok....let's try coming from a more philosophical angle.... For all those saying "Give Wotte (another) chance"....if Wotte had never been at the club and a shortlist of potential new managers was being drawn up by our new owner and Mr Wotte was one of the names on that list...how many of you would be chosing Wotte as your first choice (assuming the 'usual suspects' would be on the aforementioned shortlist) I would venture the number of people pinpointing Mr Wotte on a 'list of new managers' would be a tad less than the number of people saying "give him (another) chance". At the end of the day, Wotte will never be a 'unity' candidate and it's unity that I trust the manager will be looking to achieve in his mission to re-engage the fan base and local community. IMHO of course
  2. Which is exactly how I would have reacted if I wanted to keep my job options as open as possible. Going into a strop on the 2nd April was hardly going to improve his prospects of getting a job for next season, whether at Saints or elsewhere. Was it?
  3. Not forgetting the first half of the season where he was part of a "revolutionary management duo" (not my words but the club's at the time)
  4. It's a natural human reaction to give people the benefit of the doubt during the euphoria of a good news situation. People need to detach themselves from the sentimentality of the moment and rationalise who would be the best manager for Saints going forward. IMHO of course
  5. But, as you allude to at the start of your second paragraph Duncan, SFC is ultimately answerable to the fans. I'm sure a private owner would listen to the fans if they didn't turn up to sample their wares. Arguably, perhaps even more so now it is a privately run business.
  6. That's only 3.6% of his reported personal wealth though....I spend more than that (percentage wise) on beer.
  7. Remind me, how long has Wotte been in professional football management now? My fear is that a sentimental feel good factor is in danger of clouding people's judgement on Wotte's career. Anyway, one has made one's point and one trusts the new management to make the right decision.
  8. Thank you Mr Liebherr. I trust you have the phone numbers for Mssrs Le Tissier and Keegan? (well, you did say you want to re-engage the fans)
  9. Indeed. We need to get the manager decision right from 'day 1'...Wotte doesn't need any 'chances'...he's been in the game long enough for the new owner to be able to judge his competency levels against that of other possible candidates.
  10. I agree that Wotte has acted with dignity over the last 3 months....but how else did people expect anyone in his position to act? We have a wonderful opportunity to start afresh and we shouldn't let emotions get in the way of getting the best manager available in to do the job. I just can't rationalise that, no matter how dignified he's been, Wotte is the best option going forward. As I say, we have a wonderful opportunity. Let's not waste it by playing the sentimental card. (to answer the inevitable next question....yes, I will support the club and Wotte if the new owner keeps him.)
  11. He was given a chance as part of the dutch management due the whole of last season. Get Keegan in next week. Sorted
