He applied rule 12 to the Antonio sending off correctly.

As I posted earlier the rules state no advantage should be played or waited for if there is no clear opportunity to score. The tackle was close to our penalty box and play was stopped 20 yards inside our own half. It was a good opportunity to break, but being in your own half is never going to be viewed in the rules as a clear opportunity to score.
-
That is simply not even close to being true. At the moment he blew his whistle Saints were still in their own half. About 20 yards inside our own half! It was a good opportunity for a break, but not remotely close to warranting a 'clear opportunity for a goal'. So the referee was correctly applying rule 12 by stopping the game to send him off.

Is it time for Ralph to change our fomation?
Matthew Le God replied to Teddeer's topic in The Saints
I didn't say it wasn't a 4141, I said "it could also be called a 433". Formations are flexible in and out of possession, so both can be applied to what we did today. 'Also' doesn't mean instead of. -

Their job wasn't to be close to him, they were to stay wide and double up with the fullbacks, it was Ward-Prowse and Elyounoussi who were close to Armstrong. -
We were in our own half of the pitch, it was never going to be deemed a clear opportunity to score. Not even remotely close to counting as a clear opportunity.

The rules say you can't play on if a player is to be sent off and there is no clear opportunity to score (which there wasn't as we were in our own half!). So again... the ref was doing his job correctly. https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-12---fouls-and-misconduct

It was a genuine head injury, so he was doing his job correctly by stopping the game.

Stuart Armstrong would be a good option in the role Elyounoussi played today. Diallo was also more effective than Elyounoussi when he came on playing in that role when Ward-Prowse replaced Romeu as the deep player. -
Where's our next clean sheet going to come from?

Living up to your username? ๐ (I've not purchased it since 2006, perks of being a researcher!)

They are playing in the category one academy league system, so how would that work? The club aren't going to willingly sacrifice being a category one club.

Lyanco seems keen for this game. Would he do this for a game he knew he wasn't going to play in? Perhaps... as he is nuts! ๐

Out on 9th November 2022 ๐ If you buy before release day you get 10% off the price plus you have early access to play the beta approximately two weeks beforehand.

Can you define 'Noddy club'? I'm all ears.....
-
Do they? Salisu should start, but I think Bednarek is a better player than Stephens despite the knocking he gets on the forum. Plus we then have Lyanco added to the mix. So I'd say who partners Salisu is up in the air at the moment.

Not this coming Thursday, it is the Thursday after Saints play them.

Saints already have a bigger wage bill than Ajax, with Forster leaving it opens up a lot on our wage bill. Hard to think of many big European clubs in need of a new keeper and some may be put of by him being out of action for 9 months due to his ban. Saints could be the fresh start he needs.
-
Perhaps Saints could make an ambitious move for Onana after his doping ban. https://www.bbc.com/sport/africa/57427001 He is out of contract next summer and doesn't look like he is renewing it...
-
He can put in good performances at St Maryโs (4 years ago)...

Why does being 'higher profile' matter? It is ability that matters, lets give Lyanco a chance before writing him off.
