Were you expecting a bottom half Championship team to have a good chance against the reigning Premier League champions at home? Bit harsh to judge Adkins on this game in isolation. I think Hull may have rested a lot of players as well.

Not really the same as they both wanted to do things to improve the situation, but were thwarted politically. Where as Trump is in the pocket of the NRA and blames mental health rather than the availability of guns. Every society has citizens with mental health issues, the US is one of the rare countries that allows such people to have relatively easy access to firearms.
-
Trump blaming mental health problems in a statement today is an issue, when a year earlier he revoked gun checks for those with mental illness...

It would be a financial disaster for the club and I'd rather have a **** season in the Premier League and stay up than a very good season in the Championship. Far better for the future of the club.
-
The tactics and player selection play a huge part and poor decisions in both are costing us this season. Pellegrino is stifling this squad from any attacking threat and also appears poor at both motivational skills and defensive organisation. Compelylely out of his depth and we have a squad a competent manager could do a lot with.

I find it hard to believe Cortese leaving made any difference to Pochettino going. As soon as he knew Spurs wanted him he was likely to want to leave, it is hard to see why he'd view Saints with Cortese as preferable to Spurs. Backing Koeman with what? Saints reportedly him £86k per week wages, which is a very large figure in world football for a manager. Everton just offered more and huge amounts in the transfer market that Saints don't have available, the line had to be drawn somewhere.

WBA v Saints - 5th Round FA Cup Thread

Some sound logic in his reasoning by him this week...! He is labelled "football expert", I'm struggling to see much in the way of reasoned, insightful, informed analysis. -
Why did you say deserve in the first post then?

Nothing will change the minds of a lot of them, they think it is their right to bear arms just in case the Redcoats turn up again!

We are not going to appoint Strachan, but you keep that conversation going... -

Well you are wrong. I think it is a terrible show inhabited by morons.

When were the good old days exactly? Pre-June 1992?

Look what you could have won...

It wouldn't be hard to find a more tactically competent manager for the last 11 games. A competent manager would be able to get a lot more out of this squad of players, it is Pellegrino that is holding us back, not the squad of players.
-
Would it? - Our last season in the Championship averaged = 26,420 - This season in the Premier League averaging = 30,691 26,420 x 23 Championship home games = 607,660 total fans 30,691 x 19 Premier League home games = 583,129 total fans There were actually more fan day trips to the city in our 2011/12 Championship season than any of our Premier League seasons at St Mary's. All those fans potentially also have 23 trips to the pub a year on Championship matchdays rather than 19 in the Premier League. The extra 4 games would also help bridge the gap in terms of Premier League vs Championship away fan numbers at St Mary's for hotel usage etc as well. (don't read into this I want Saints to go down, in terms of finances for the club relegation is a disaster)

So do Wolves & Aston Villa, they are 1st & 2nd in the Championship and looking good bets for promotion. One in, one out policy!
-
I'm not sure why you think that and jumped to that conclusion, when all I've said is Strachan isn't a good option. Given the choice of Pellegrino or Strachan, I'd pick Strachan, but that isn't the only choice and there are many other managers I'd rather have than Strachan. Of course I'm grateful for what Strachan did in his time at Saints, but football in the Premier League has moved on and Strachan hasn't operated at that level for a very long time (14 years).
-
Why? Strachan has been out of club management for a long time! - His last club job was 7 years ago ... which he failed in - His last top flight job in a major league was 14 years ago! (us) Next people will be wanting McMenemy back
-
It would be nice if he did go tomorrow, but... do random musings require their own threads?

He said they weren't all replaced. But they clearly were. Lovren was replaced by Alderweireld on loan, Alderweireld was replaced by van Dijk and van Dijk was replaced by Hoedt. The only one who arguably hasn't been replaced is Fonte. I'd say Stephens isn't at the level Fonte was at his peak, but he is currently better than Fonte as things stand today.

Is it? I'd rather have our squad than most of the bottom half teams, it is the manager that is costing us.
