Vardy was in the 5th tier with Fleetwood 4 years ago at 25, Bentley is in the 8th tier at 25 years old. Being a late developer and playing non league in your teens and early 20's is one thing, but to reach 25 and still be in the 8th tier suggests the Premier League boat has gone.

Saints Transfers Thread - Deadline Day
Matthew Le God replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
How is Oxlade-Chamberlain a replacement for Wanyama? They play in completely different roles. There is no way Oxlade-Chamberlain could do what Wanyama does for us. I can't see the club being happy with Romeu as first choice. He is really a squad player, who'll get a decent amount of game time over a season. If Wanyama is sold we'll need to sign a first choice physical defensive midfielder, probably for pretty big money. That would be a worrying drop in quality. -
That was too easy! I didn't work anything out, I just wanted to see if anyone would be bothered to spend the time and check if it was true or not.

It is not mathematically possible for all the teams from 8th to 18th to get more than the 47 points Saints currently have. Whilst it is possible all those teams individually can get that amount of points, it isn't possible they all can together in what remains of the season, as in order to do so they would be taking points off the others.

Alex Chamberlain available in the summer?
Matthew Le God replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
The article suggests his motive for potentially leaving Arsenal would be for more Premier League starts. If that is the case, which club higher than us in the league is likely to offer him more? -
Pelle was in the motion of having a shot on goal, which ended up going wide because of Skrtel's actions. So clearly it was an opportunity to score.
-
When he gave the penalty, why did he not send Skrtel off for being the last man denying a goal-scoring opportunity?
-
You haven't listed a player who plays in the same role as Wanyama. If Wanyama is sold its hard to see him not being directly replaced with another first choice defensive midfielder.

Secular Southampton FC social media accounts

The club's media account has yet again involved itself in matters of religion with the announcement Mother Teresa becoming a Saint. Previously they've tweeted "thoughts and prayers" about incidents. Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC 3h3 hours ago Southampton FC Retweeted The Associated Press Welcome to the family, Mother Teresa! #saintsfc The club should remain secular, its supporters aren't all religious. I guess at this point some will be thinking "oh, but Southampton were founded as a church team". Even if you applied that argument it fails because St Mary's is an Anglican church, not Catholic and Sainthood's are done by the Vatican, not Church of England. Mother Teresa is hardly worthy of praise, she did far more harm to the world than good... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65JxnUW7Wk4 Southampton's supporters aren't all followers of the same religion and never will be, so the club should be neutral and secular in the 21st century.

I'd imagine he'd have agreed a deal so he can work from home a lot of the time. But given his excuse in the past he is terrible with technology, will he be able to keep in contact?

How have Everton kept hold of Lukaku for so long?
Matthew Le God replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
They signed him for £28m in 2014. They've kept him through the winter 2015, summer 2015 and winter 2016 transfer windows. 3 transfer windows is not a huge amount of time and they are unlikely to sell him unless someone offers them a profit on the £28m they paid. -
Don't worry... Johnny Phillips @SkyJohnnyP 8m8 minutes ago Ronald Koeman confirms Southampton will appeal Sadio Mane red card
-
It was barely a foul, let alone a yellow. To give a red enters the ridiculous. If it isn't reminded there is something wrong with football. The Stoke player should really be punished for rolling around on the floor holding part of his head that wasn't touched in order to get Mane sent off.

Saints Transfers Thread - Deadline Day

Some of you are setting your sights very low! We wouldn't improve our starting line-up with the vast majority of that list. -
At £30 ticket for every Premier League away day, how much would you charge for a Championship, League 1 & League 2 away day? With Premier League prices coming down, Football League clubs will be under pressure to reduce and lose income despite not overly benefitting from the new TV deal. Next season will see every Premier League away fan have a cheaper ticket than many games in the Championship for away fans. I'm not disputing today is good news, just that it will have implications for Football League clubs as they'd struggle to justify prices close to or above Premier League prices after a reduction. Championship, League 1 & League 2 clubs may face a tricky decision to fall in line price wise for the standard of football on offer. What price can Pompey charge for a 4th tier fan at Fratton Park if Saints charge Arsenal and Man Utd fans £30 at St Mary's? Could be a awkward balancing act for the Skates.

If you are going to criticise him, pace and skip would be a strange thing to go with as he is very quick and skilful... Lack of strength on the ball is his main weakness, something Koeman acknowledges and wants to work on. I wouldn't write him off yet, he has some useful attributes.
-
I'm struggling to believe you've seen him play if you think Juanmi is slow. Look at this match winning goal vs Barcelona for sheer acceleration and pace... [video=youtube;z8CgMUh8-Z0]
-
Off where? The list of clubs that would be a more attractive opportunity than Saints is relatively tiny. Koeman would face fierce competition for any of those roles. You say "slump in form", but we've gone through spells of both good and bad runs throughout the season. Go back a mere three games and we were on a 6 match unbeaten run, top of the form table, no goals conceded. Before that we had a long poor run, before that a long good run.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 Sunderland
Matthew Le God replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
??? We went from 8th (2013/14) to 7th (2014/15) in the last two seasons. We are currently 8th and only 2 points behind 7th (a team we play next weekend). -
Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 Sunderland
Matthew Le God replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Why don't refs follow the rules for injury time? - Ref decides there will be a minimum of 4 mins injury time. - van Dijk Goal in 93rd minute - Saints players celebrate and it takes time until Sunderland restart the game - Ref blows full-time at 94:08 when Saints were on the attack. Goal in injury time should = longer time... not 8 seconds. -
They've denied that is the plan, it is apparently for the pre-season tournaments. Even if a Super League did happen it is never going to be as you suggest in place of the Premier League, it would be instead of the Champions League so there is more money for the big sides. I'm not sure why you think those 5 teams leaving the Premier League would be good for Saints. If they did Saints would become significantly weaker as future Premier League TV deals would be significantly smaller and Saints wage and transfer budget would drop off leading to a lower quality of Saints team.
