  1. Even without Tadic, Pelle and a new left back we could line up like... Boruc Clyne Lovren Fonte Chambers Schneiderlin Wanyama Cork Ramirez S.Davis Osvaldo/Rodriguez/Gallagher/Sharp/Mayuka That is still a good mid table quality Premier League side. Okay, so the strikers may prove to be a problem as Rodriguez is injured and Osvaldo may be on his way out, but that is why we are bidding for Pelle, plus Tadic will add attacking creativity. Do you honestly believe all of Burnley, Leicester, WBA, Hull, Stoke, Villa, West Ham, Sunderland, Swansea, Newcastle, QPR and Palace are better than us? Have you actually looked at their current squads?
  2. What utter nonsense! We came 8th last season, we've only lost 3 players (admittedly 3 very good players). But even without Shaw, Lallana and Lambert we are still better than most (if not all) of the clubs that finished below us and those that were promoted. We also appear to be close to signing Pelle and Tadic, bring in a left back and the squad size is similar to last season and there is still 2 months left of the transfer window to further improve the squad. I wish people would stop starting random musing threads every time they have a panic attack! Patience is a virtue.
  3. You are jumping to conclusions if you think selling players to Man Utd and Liverpool for large amounts of money equals an "asset strip" or "firesale". I'm not sure you understand what they both mean. If Shaw and Lallana played for Stoke, Newcastle, Aston Villa, West Ham etc and Man Utd and Liverpool offered them £55m they would ALL sell them. The training ground development was revealed in League 1 and construction started in the Championship, the club will have funding plans for it a long time ago which didn't require players sales. When they announced it in 2010 they had no idea they would sell Shaw and Lallana for such huge amounts in 2014.
  4. Come September England may nearly be "abroad" for Celtic players.
  5. Where? All 7 clubs above us in the Premier League last season have keepers he is unlikely dislodge to be first choice in 2014/15.
  6. No he hasn't, I think you may be looking at a fake account.
  7. It also ignores that the Bournemouth chief executive said sacrifices had to be made... http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/11312797.AFC_Bournemouth__Blake_reveals__small_sacrifices__over_Lallana_deal/
  8. Perhaps the club want to give Koeman a chance to see them in training/pre-season games before making a decision if they fit into his plans.
  9. Adidas, SBOBET and Carling have been removed.
  10. In the time you took to write that last post you could have quite easily answered my original two questions. Why are you avoiding them?
  11. I asked two questions, you answered neither. Is that because you know the answers make you wrong? Perhaps if you had a more rational thought process you would have more confidence in the club you support and those running it. You've yet to justify the reasons why you don't have confidence in them. Failure to do so suggests that you can't and your position is flimsy to say the least!
  12. Can you show me something that proves the club wanted £40m for Shaw? In any case the club confirmed that the fee received was a world record fee for a teenager! Does that not count as a massive bid to you? You are being ridiculously negative and irrational in your thought process.
  13. I'd say £2m p/a wages plus Champions League football still fits in with my original wording.
  14. I know, was a brain freeze moment.
  15. Champions League football, home town club, he was never going to want to turn down such an opportunity.
  16. How is this escaping you? Lallana and Lambert went to Liverpool, with huge wages and Champions League football on offer. Shaw went to Man Utd and had a huge wage increase and better chance of European football in the future. If those players played for Newcastle, Aston Villa, Stoke, West ham etc they would also leave if the club was offered enough.
  17. Nothing to do with that as other players also had internationals and were at training, Boruc was given leave due to getting married... .
  18. "Younger" players at 1st team training today... James Ward-Prowse Callum Chambers Matthew Targett Omar Rowe Harrison Reed Sam Gallagher Jake Sinclair Cody Cropper Paulo Gazzaniga Jack Stephens Jordan Turnbull Sam McQueen Lloyd Isgrove
  19. I think 9-3 needs a mod enforced weeks "holiday" from the forum, or a ban from starting new threads.
  20. I'd be happy to see Gallagher as 4th or 5th choice striker as I can see the potential in him, but I don't see a future for Sharp at Saints because if we want to maintain a top half Premier League finish we need better senior strikers. He's been through a lot in his personal life and scored some important goals in the Championship for us, but I think people are being too sentimental if they think we should be using him in our squad next season. We should be looking to improve the depth of our squad and bring through quality youngsters by having a pathway, using Sharp does neither of those things.
  21. Gallagher has scored more Premier League goals than Billy Sharp... At the start of 2012/13, Danny Fox was the most experienced left back at the club, I'm sure your glad we replaced him with a 17 year old aren't you?

  23. Perhaps he is right, but its hard to take someone seriously who describes himself in the profile section on Twitter as... "Reputable established football associate." https://twitter.com/MurrayGroves Shouldn't that be for others to decide, rather than labelling yourself in such a way?
  24. Wouldn't work very well, "Davis" and "Davies" are pronounced differently.
