  1. To save my brain from hurting, assuming the €2m figure is right what would it be in pounds sterling per week before tax?
  2. You are positive as ever I see.
  3. The article says the relegation clause would be equal to the cost of purchase.
  4. He has played 15 games for Inter Milan this season.
  5. He is away for the next month.
  6. Is it? Even with Lallana fit and Mayuka away with Zambia, we are short of attacking players of Premier League quality to play behind a lone striker in our 4-2-3-1 system beyond Lallana, Puncheon and Ramirez.
  7. I think that will be quite low down the priority list with Cork and Schneiderlin performing well, with Davis as back up and wanting a pathway for Ward-Prowse.
  8. Both the links in the opening post are referencing a story in the Italian broadsheet the Corriere dello Sport.
  9. But if the club knows it has the budget to make multiple good signings this window, why not do them all? In any case... - I don't see the harm in giving Boruc a good run in the team. He is an experienced top flight and international goalkeeper. - Astori could well be the centre back you want. - Clyne will be back very soon, Cork is adequate cover at right back. Any other right back we bring in would be coming knowing he'll be on the bench, who could we get to do that? - As for "someone else who might score/create goals", that could be Coutinho perhaps. We do need another attacking player as without Lallana we are short.
  10. €10 million offer for Davide Astori suggests they do plan to improve the defence don't you think? How do you know what else they are planning or how much money they have? If good attacking players are available aswell and they have the money to sign both attacking players and defenders, then why not do both?
  11. Why are you overlooking the interest in Davide Astori? Saints can make more than one bid at a time.
  12. Dear Mr Turkish, Watch this video and apologise please. Regards, Your forum nemesis MLG x x Enjoy - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20915231 (p.s. stop with the Football Manager insults it really is quite pathetic, as is your stalking of me on these forums)
  13. Flyer has piped up again. That 8,984 today vs a Premier League team will look silly in Fernandes' 45,000 stadium.
  14. It wasn't "reset". The number of bookings needed for a suspension increased at the turn of the year from 5 to 10. Schneiderlin is on 5 bookings, another 5 will see him suspended.
  15. Turkish, have you considered that if the opposition are guessing they have to prepare for a range of possibilities and a large % of the training in the build up is wasted time? If they know for certain a player is out they can use the time training in the build up to the game more productively. Also, teams can base their own team selection on what they expect the opposition to play i.e. bringing in a fast defender to counter a fast striker, or a big defender to mark a big striker. As both team sheets are handed in at the same time there is nothing the opposition manager can do in terms of personal changes to counter any unexpected changes by the opposition.
  16. What do you think happens in training in the build up to a game in modern professional football? They have analysed the opposition and prepare to defend and attack against the lineup they expect to play. If they don't know who will play and how they will play it makes preparation very difficult. It makes perfect sense not to give the opposition injury news. If you were Chelsea manager and you knew Mayuka was going to play today would you prepare for the game in the same way as if Lambert was going to play instead? Do you think the Allies should have told the Germans they were invading Normandy and for him not to bother defending other areas? Of course not, they kept them guessing where, how and when they would attack to keep them guessing and give them the best chance of victory. As Tesco's say... every little helps! Remember Adkins has been reading this...
  17. Of course I do. Why would anyone think otherwise? Opposition managers will often base their team selection on that of the expected line up of the opposition, they also do set piece drills in the days leading upto a game. If the opposition don't know if a certain player is playing or not it makes it harder to do. It doesn't matter at all if the fans aren't kept informed. I'd far rather Saints gain whatever edge they can over the opposition by not allowing them to fully prepare to face us.
  18. The opposition have no idea how we will line up, how to counter us at set pieces etc etc
  19. The Villa game is a week away. Villa play in the League Cup semi final on Tuesday, they will be more tired than us. Looks like we might have Astori to replace Fonte.
  20. Ramirez still has a higher PA. So no need for a song.
  21. If he signs, he will be our best player on Football Manager 2013. Above Ramirez, Lallana and Lambert.
  22. I'd imagine Adkins has been aware of his budget and the ambitions Cortese has for a long time.
  23. Why when the current system is working well? In any case that would then just mean a midfielder/attacker being dropped instead. Astori will come into the team with us playing the same system, in place of Fonte or Yoshida.
  24. What is the point in that? He is never going to be a Premier League player, he simply isn't good enough so we may as well sell him.
