  1. Getting an away ticket if you are a Man Utd fan is very tricky, lots of them will be Mancunians and generally their away support is superb.
  2. We started the game like this... Gazzaniga Clyne Stephens Hooiveld Fox Hammond Chaplow Lallana Puncheon Guly Do Prado Sharp The formation stayed the same throughout the game and finished the game like this... Gazzaniga Richardson Fonte Seaborne Fox Davis Chambers Ward-Prowse De Ridder Rodriguez Sharp Such a system could be called a number of things... 433, 451, 4141 Adkins has used this system a lot in pre-season and it looks like we will see a lot of it next season. It really suits Schneiderlin as the holding midfielder and allows Lallana to have a more central position. Using Rodriguez on the left really feels like a waste of his talents though. I'd guess we may start the Man City game like this... K.Davis Clyne Fonte Hooiveld Fox Schneiderlin S. Davis Lallana Do Prado Rodriguez Lambert
  3. Last again...
  4. He is on loan at Gillingham for the entire season and his contract runs out next summer. He'll leave then.
  5. I assumed he was joking, as if true that would be very odd. I don't think it was even one of the big Russian sides.
  6. Nope. But I will still stand by my original guess of Barcelona and Ajax.
  7. Correct. Crystal Palace for example are in it this season, but won't next season as they failed to get cat 1. Same applies to Newcastle and Blackburn apparently. I would imagine Les Reed's comment about Saints coming out on top in the audit will still apply once the rest have been audited, after all we already came above Man Utd and Man City in the first half of the audit. And there were prelimerary audits in order to gauge levels of academies. Saints will be used as a benchmark and example for all other clubs at the National Football Centre/St George's Park in Buxton.
  8. In other south coast youth football news... Portsmouth Supporters Trust revealed their plans for a "community club" by saying if they took charge they are likely to close the academy in 2014... "6.7 Academy Costs PST plan to maintain the academy at category three. The effectiveness and cost of the academy would then be closely monitored and reviewed throughout the first two seasons, with a decision made on the future of the academy by the beginning of the 2014/15 season. The forecasts show no cost in the 2014/15 season for the academy, as it is believed that the board will have decided the Academy is too costly to run by this point."
  9. They are halfway through the audit, rest being done in Sept and Oct. It won't be the proper cat 1 league until 2013/14, at the moment it is just all those that applied for cat 1.
  10. So what? It is still true.
  11. For this season they just let in everyone that applied for category one status, so 23 clubs. Next season will only be for those clubs that actually got cat 1 status, so will be less than 23 clubs.
  12. Massive assumption here... 5.3 Ticket sales In addition, the forecast assumes three cup games (League Cup, FA Cup, Johnstones Paint Trophy), at an average attendance of 10,000, with an average ticket price of £15 (inc VAT), and with Portsmouth FC keeping 45% of the gate revenue. Not many teams average 10k from home/away games in first round of League Cup, JPT and FA Cup. A 10k figure is extremely optimistic. For a start they are playing Plymouth away in the League Cup, the attendance won't be anywhere near 10k. What if they play small teams in the FA Cup and JPT and/or are away from home at a small stadium?
  13. At least two games have to be at St Mary's.
  14. A minimum of two games have to be played at the club's stadium, the public will be able to watch them. The club can also let the public into the training ground games if it wants and the plan is for this competition to be televised at some point. The under 21's, under 18's and under 16's will all have the same league/team structure.
  15. That is only the league until Christmas. After Christmas the top 3 teams from group 1 + 2 join the top two teams from group 3 to find the best team. The remaining teams also form two other leagues so the second half of the season has a 3 tier system. Will be less teams in it in 2013/14 as for this season they just let in everyone that applied for category one status. Next season will only be for those clubs that got cat 1 status.
  16. Groups... Bolton Wanderers, Norwich City, Everton, West Ham United, Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion, Reading. Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Watford, Sunderland, Southampton, Aston Villa, Stoke City. Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough, Chelsea, Liverpool, Fulham, Wolverhampton Wanderers.
  17. I have now got them to work by right clicking on them and opening it in a new tab.
  18. Can anyone get the latest 4 videos (Fonte and Adkins interviews) to work on Saints Player? Not working for me at the moment, yet older videos work fine.
  19. Not possible due to rule 6.3 and others found here... http://www.footballconference.co.uk/rules.php
  20. That sounds about right! Saints play Wolves at St Mary's on Saturday, Bristol City away is next Tuesday.
  21. Southampton FC ‏@officialsaints Saints Player interviews, press conferences and quotes from Nigel Adkins & José Fonte will be on the new-look http://www.saintsfc.co.uk tonight. Likely to be the usual Thursday pre-match interviews Saints have on Saints Player before every Saturday game. A little chat of what they've done this week, build up to the Wolves game on Saturday and skirting round transfer news.
  22. In the bottom half of League Two!
  23. How can they justify this...? Should be youth players and development squad players, not a "very competitive budget for League One". This money for a "competitive budget" Mr Brown talks of should be going to the creditors! The PST still don't "get it".
  24. Davis hasn't joined to sit on the bench, he is likely to be one of the top earners (if not the top earner) at the club. I think there is a more than reasonable chance he will soon be our captain and partnered with one/two of Lallana, Cork and Schneiderlin in central midfield (with Ward-Prowse in the long term to break through). Chaplow and Hammond simply aren't technically good enough to compete with the others. Yes, they work very hard but their first touch and passing ability is poor in comparison.
