We have two players called "Davis" and one of them is on the bench, so technically he is right.

More likely it will be the system we've been using throughout pre-season... K.Davis Clyne Fonte Hooiveld Fox Schneiderlin Ward-Prowse Lallana Puncheon Rodriguez Lambert

ALL POMPEY TAKEOVER SAGA NUTJOBS! *KEY POST IN THREAD ALERT* This is interesting... http://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/media/coun20120809r5.pdf

If true, this thread still has a long way to go as Chainrai milks the club for every penny he can get his hands on over the next few years. Mr Appleton won't be getting the budget he thinks he deserves to be "competitive" any time soon. If we think the national budget is austerity, wait till Appleton sees what Chainrai gives him!

Hence my safety wink.

With only 18 league games before Christmas, that is mathematically impossible.

Especially with a centre back pairing of Stephens and Cork.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
Matthew Le God replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
Is the word of Alan Nixon the gospel truth? Lets say Cortese returns in one weeks time, that still gives the last two weeks of the window for him to do transfer business in person. He probably did similar last summer, that proved to be a fruitful season didn't it? We have signed 3 players that are likely starters already to add to last seasons squad, plus Tadanari Lee will feel like a new signing given his lack of game time last season due to injury. Why won't you say which two weeks of the six available to him you would find acceptable him not being at work? -

Well the window he has to have a summer holiday with his family is from mid July to early September. You will get people criticising him whichever two weeks he picks from that period. In any case, transfers can still be done without him in the country. -

You didn't actually say at what point in the school holidays you would give Cortese your approval to have a family holiday. You said "I would rather he went when it has the smallest effect on our season". When exactly would that be? -

Burke was given a better role at Brighton, in the same way we offered Mitchell a better role compared to the one he had at MK Dons. -

As I said earlier... At what point should he take his family summer holiday? His kids are on holiday from school, the season hasn't started and Saints have 4 new players already. Plus in any case, transfers can still be done without him in the country. -

Getting an away ticket if you are a Man Utd fan is very tricky, lots of them will be Mancunians and generally their away support is superb.

We started the game like this... Gazzaniga Clyne Stephens Hooiveld Fox Hammond Chaplow Lallana Puncheon Guly Do Prado Sharp The formation stayed the same throughout the game and finished the game like this... Gazzaniga Richardson Fonte Seaborne Fox Davis Chambers Ward-Prowse De Ridder Rodriguez Sharp Such a system could be called a number of things... 433, 451, 4141 Adkins has used this system a lot in pre-season and it looks like we will see a lot of it next season. It really suits Schneiderlin as the holding midfielder and allows Lallana to have a more central position. Using Rodriguez on the left really feels like a waste of his talents though. I'd guess we may start the Man City game like this... K.Davis Clyne Fonte Hooiveld Fox Schneiderlin S. Davis Lallana Do Prado Rodriguez Lambert

He is on loan at Gillingham for the entire season and his contract runs out next summer. He'll leave then.

I assumed he was joking, as if true that would be very odd. I don't think it was even one of the big Russian sides. -

Nope. But I will still stand by my original guess of Barcelona and Ajax. -

Correct. Crystal Palace for example are in it this season, but won't next season as they failed to get cat 1. Same applies to Newcastle and Blackburn apparently. I would imagine Les Reed's comment about Saints coming out on top in the audit will still apply once the rest have been audited, after all we already came above Man Utd and Man City in the first half of the audit. And there were prelimerary audits in order to gauge levels of academies. Saints will be used as a benchmark and example for all other clubs at the National Football Centre/St George's Park in Buxton. -

In other south coast youth football news... Portsmouth Supporters Trust revealed their plans for a "community club" by saying if they took charge they are likely to close the academy in 2014... "6.7 Academy Costs PST plan to maintain the academy at category three. The effectiveness and cost of the academy would then be closely monitored and reviewed throughout the first two seasons, with a decision made on the future of the academy by the beginning of the 2014/15 season. The forecasts show no cost in the 2014/15 season for the academy, as it is believed that the board will have decided the Academy is too costly to run by this point." -
Good point.
