Apart from Sturrock, struggling to think of another Saints manager winning his first match in charge going back nearly 40 years to when McMenemy took charge(and I'm pretty sure he didn't win his first, I'm sure we were about 5th when he took over in December 1973 and ended up relegated)

Are we allowed to sign him as a player outside the transfer window?

Can anyone remember the last time a new Saints manager won his first game? We don't seem to benefit from the new manager syndrome.
