  1. The constructive dismissals of Keegan and Curbishly has upped the ante even more. It is now becoming evident, not only the demise of English owners & English footballers from the Premiership (soon to be extinct?) but now the demise of English managers. So what is behind this apparently anti-English strategy? Very soon there will be nothing English about it. Who owns the premiership??? Sky? Murdoch, an Ozzie? Whoever, it seems it is quickly becoming a World Series Exhibition Circus that for now is based in England but not for much longer one would imagine. Very soon it may be touring the world like Formula 1? The international round was just the beginning of an Ecclestone like Circus - is this why Ecclestone himself has bought into QPR?? How long will the English brand names last? ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool etc before they become Red Bull Gunners or Vodaphone Red Devils and Sibneft Blues living out of international 5-Star hotels and all living in Dubai beyond national tax boundaries. Get Used to it! This is the way it'll end. Perhaps only when this particular metamorphises is complete will English football wake up to waht has happened under our eyes with our blessing. Every cloud has a silver lining so maybe by 2025 we will start again with four English Divisions
  2. Uncanny resemblance to Rupert Lowe wouldn't you say? Football's coming gnome?
  3. Uncanny resemblance to Rupert Lowe wouldn't you say? Football's coming gnome?
  4. I don't know why anybody bothers to ask him anything. He is clearly not able to answer any question that we do not already have an answer for. The Echo just lies back and take sit all... who's turn next boys? (with a resigned sigh)!
  5. ... and this WAS your light-bulb moment? Better keep taking the sedatives in the hope that in even more relaxed moments you'll come up with even more flashes of the blindingly obvious.
  6. By 2010, promotion to and relegation from the 'Premier" league will cease. Who knows what the future of football will be in this country but for sure the face of football has changed irrevocably since the Man City takeover. It looks increasingly like a Premiership or whatever the new branding will call it of 10, maybe 12 teams only. There is no future there for humble little Southampton so what are we to strive for? If we are left with a rump of two top tiers of 16 clubs called Division 1 & 2 will we even make it to league 1 and will anybody care or even watch except the doggedly faithful? But, how long will even they turn up to watch Windass, Euell and their like?
  7. Alan Curbishley is a free agent again, any chance we could see him here before long?
  8. The playing area at The Emirates is much larger. About time pitch size was standardised in metres +/- 0.
  9. Skacel was overweight, ponderous and couldn't run fast enough to overtake a tortoise last year so an ideal choice for LB? I don't think so!
  10. Jan Poortvliet quote: "...... that will help them both to settle because it's often good to have a familiar face about the place." You can say that again mate! Most fans will feel the same, they don't recognise anybody!
  11. Some of the things Jan Poortvliet says are plain daft! How quickly his "Bring it on!" has turned into "Please, give us some respite!" Sorry to say but I can't see it working out for him after all. No doubt Judas & Co will give him until December? Early Euphoria carries many teams forward but sustaining it is nigh impossible, nobody has that much adrenaline. Look what happened to Stoke and Hull on Saturday, it's always seems easy for 3 games but then the 'norm' kicks in - same with us! Now we must start being realistic, revise our wildest expectations / hopes and accept that a relegation fight seems distinctly possible.
  12. Plan B is a euphemism as I am sure you realise LSC. Ant 'Plan' is Plan A until two minutes after implementation when there is no plan left worth the mullah, at which time it is more kindly called "time for Plan B" rather than "You are a useless pr*ck for c*cking it all up!"
  13. Didn't go. Had a feeling it would go bottom up after all the euphoria this week. Went to The Emirates instead. Arsenal were poor but nowhere near as bad as Newcastle. I have seen two of this year's relegation teams already, Newcastle and West Ham and both are clueless sides in free-fall, lots of long ball stuff that Saints USED TO PLAY. We'd have beaten both Newcastle and Arsenal on our last Tuesday's showing - but obviously not yesterday's!
  14. Typical of Sycophant Scooby - as usual in his eyes Lowe has sun shining from his Rrse! Lowe hasn't changed.. do leopards change their spots? Bring back the gallows on Itchen Bridge and Judas must go with him.
  15. Time to GET RID. The bloke's a prize plonker and looks antediluvian in this team.
  16. Get Well quickly mate!
  17. He's a good lad to bring in on a free as the ticket office is genuinely short of people with football knowledge.
  18. If they are on loan they are on offer.. FACT! Stop worrying, if they were considered really that special they wouldn't be at SMS believe you me. You've forgotten how big is the gulf between Chelsea, Spurs and us in terms of playing strength and ambition. If we can off-load the old has-beens / never-was's before then don't bet against signing them both. What future for Jack Cork at Chelsea with Kaka and all the rest of the £50m + contingent?
  19. Excellent. I think Birmingham were up for it, who knows but the best aspect was of our ability to keep defending right thorughout the game. Paul Wooton was a good rabble rouser and played quite well. Thomas was good but he must cure his long ball habit
  20. PS What happened to the expletive filter mods, we rely on that!?
  21. Bugger January, let's concentrate on being top of the table by then so that even Lowe will not be able to make enough plausible excuses to sell our lads.
  22. If I was allowed to post a new thread which I am not I would post a thread that said " Is Simon Gillett the NEW Paul Scholes?" You've gotta believe it, tigerish tackling, amazing vision and superb control and passing. He's a must for England sooner rather than later. The sheer power and ability of Simon and Morgan in midfield takes your breath away. It's a very long time indeed since that that happened here. I hope we make it to automatic promotion this year so that we have a reasonable chance of holding onto them - imagine we had the chance to field Scholes and Gerrard, well this pairing could be even better.
  23. I blame it all on the post-war baby boomers who didn't bring up their kids properly. Had they done so we might have been spared much of the tosh that gets bantered about on here.
  24. Andrew Davies is exactly the sort of player we need, am I missing something?
  25. Thomas demonstrated what he was against Stoke, a useless *****.
