  1. TBF there's been links with Fellows in the past and I think there was one earlier this summer. Can't remember where it came from though. Everton were supposed to be interested in him but maybe if they get Dibling then that leaves him one less option in the premier league.
  2. Oh yeah, could be a number of reasons why he could be interested. Just thought it unlikely given the reasons for leaving in the first place but circumstances change and people change their minds too. Has anyone else been as good at being a proper hard bastard for us in the last 20 or 30 years? I'm struggling to think of many that come close.
  3. Yeah, this is the bit that makes it seem unlikely. Think he'd just had a kid when he left us so I can't see him wanting to relocate a young family away from Spain for what would probably only be a year, or two at best. From a football perspective I wouldn't have any problem with it though. He'd be decent cover for Charles and Downes and probably a good bloke to have around the place in terms of setting good examples.
  4. Dunno, would imagine that he would be more interested in playing the most amount of minutes at the highest level possible than anything else. Stoke might have given him more assurances over game time over us, or, as you say, we were never really interested.
  5. I can imagine we may have looked at him earlier but decided to go with Downs instead. Can't see it happening now.
  6. Rumours seem quite sparse for a club clearly trying to strengthen/replace in attacking midfield and out wide but there's been a few: William Boving looks a good left wing option Carlos Vicente on the right looks like a very good, hard working winger. Eduard Spertsyan might be a bit optimistic but fits the bill for the AM/No. 10 role Lennon Miller can play anywhere in midfield but looks like he can take his pick of clubs. Besfort Zeneli still hasn't gone anywhere. Guilherme is a decent loan shout. Jamie Donley (loan) Alysson Edward from Gremio for your annual South American "one for the future" link Always Rak-Sakyi too although I don't think he's as good as Edozie let alone better.
  7. I only ever watch on YouTube but Benjamin Bloom wasn't too bad last time we were in the Championship, particularly when he had Sam Parkin with him. Ipswich fan but seems quite balanced and fair.
  8. Yeah, the ginger hipster one is particularly annoying.
  9. As is spelling, apparently.
  10. I'm going to be optimistic and can't wait for quite a few links to players coming up. Spors and Still should have been planning for ages on the possibilities of Ramsdale, THB, Dibling and Fernandes leaving so we should have a shortlist of several players in each position ready to go. I bloody love incoming player links - best part of the summer (well, from a football perspective anyway).
  11. I'd imagine if there's a deal involving other players to be done with West Ham then Luis Guilherme would be more likely. There was some noise earlier in the window about us being interested, probably a loan. He's a right winger and physically fits the profile Spors has identified.
  12. Maybe Walker Peters could persuade Ward-Prowse to move down here?
  13. Somebody on the thread earlier mentioned we're trying to get Jamie Donley on loan from Spurs and reckoned that was the creative midfielder Solak mentioned. Thomas Frank wanted to get a look at him before deciding whether to send him on loan and that was holding things up.
  14. Seems like he's a hard working traditional winger and we ain't got many of those. Had an interesting journey to La Liga if anyone's interested: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6289789/2025/04/20/carlos-vicente-interview-alaves-lamine-yamal-la-liga/
  15. Leeds and Arsenal have both been linked with Charles and I can see a mid level prem team thinking they might be getting a future gem. He's not in that much of a different position to Wharton before he went to Palace. Hopefully won't happen but it's not completely unrealistic. Tend to agree with you on Downes - I thought Ipswich might have been tempted which is why I mentioned them but that looks unlikely now.
  16. Yes, definitely a bit of a worry but with Ipswich seemingly signing that Hackney for 20M (20 fucking million!) then I think that cuts down the potential moves for Downes. Fair play to them and they needed to sort out their midfield but that's a hell of a fee for the championship. Could see someone deciding Charles might be worth a punt too. Hopefully we can hold onto both because, as you say, first choice CM is an area we look pretty good in.
  17. I think you can see the contradiction here and we've actually got quite a lot of players with championship experience. Personally I don't think we should be prescriptive about signings whether that's overseas vs domestic players or the perennial experience vs potential debate. There's good and bad examples on all sides and so ultimately it comes down to scouting and having an eye for a player. If we get better players in then I don't really care how old they are or where they come from.
  18. Yeah, his work off the ball was his (apparent) strength. My favourite damned by faint praise phrase is "does the simple things well". Yep, that's what we need - someone so limited they manage to turn basic competency into an achievement.
  19. If you look at what I actually wrote, I didn't say there would definitely be motivation issues. I said I'd be concerned there could be. I was pretty clear that I wasn't being definitive about that. Fuck me there's some dense people around.
  20. So he didn't initially turn us down then?
  21. Classic Saintsweb strawman argument. At least about the motivation issue - people expressed concern over his potential motivation. They haven't moaned about it and you've just made that up. Presume you said the same when we signed Lemina?
  22. Isn't the choice between good footballers who want to be here and good footballers who don't though?
  23. Which is why I said I'd be a bit concerned about motivation rather than making a categorical judgement. Could be great, could be crap but definitely something that would need to be looked at carefully.
  24. The point was you could end up with a player who has aspirations above the championship who joins because he doesn't have any better options and then goes through the motions. Off the top of my head some examples of players who joined but couldn't really give much of a toss about being here except for the money are ABK, Maitland Niles, Orsic, Salisu, Lemina. If you believe the initial reports then his first reaction was fuck off. Doesn't exactly scream come and get me, does it? Not all players will react in the same way but definitely need to do their homework on attitude and whether he'd be worth it after 6 months and the reality of championship football kicks in.
