  1. Is there a team lineup posted yet?
  2. Speaking as a supporter who now lives overseas (in Canada), being in the Premier League is important because it means I can watch Saints play every single game of the season on TV. Now that we have dropped to the Championship, TV coverage is sporadic. Much as I appreciate the audio commentary of Adam B and Joe T, and enjoy the debates on here, I do like to see the games, so that I can watch the players and form my own opinions. Perhaps we'll get TV coverage of all Championship games in the not-too-distant future. Here's hoping.
  3. Sorry, I missed discussion of Saints' formation. Can someone oblige, please!
  4. Freudian slip?
  5. I can understand the concerns and frustration with our setup and tactics--I share them--but that is unacceptable and counter-productive.
  6. So sorry to read this, WG. We have you and your wife in our thoughts. Best wishes.
  7. I watched Lust For Life recently for the first time. It's the 1956 film (based on the Irving Stone biographical novel) about the life of Vincent Van Gogh, which stars Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn. For a Hollywood film made in the '50s, it is surprisingly good--especially the performance of Kirk Douglas as Van Gogh. There is also a lot of location shooting (France, Belgium and The Netherlands), which is also unusual for a Hollywood film of that period. If you have an interest in the subject matter, I would recommend this film. A good companion piece to Loving Vincent.
  8. You asked for it! 😏

  13. A very interesting read. Thanks for sharing this.
  14. The immediate reaction to the sacking of a manager is inevitably clouded by the negative--and often vituperative--comments that dominated discussion during his final weeks in charge of the club. We know about the long run of poor form, the controversial team selections, etc., etc. After the dust has settled, however, and supporters of the club have a chance to reflect on the contributions that the manager has made, a more balanced view will start to emerge of his achievements while in charge. The full picture will include a sense of the man's character, and an assessment of both his strengths and weaknesses as a tactician, a man-manager, and a key figure in the organization. But how about for now we dedicate this thread to positive thoughts and opinions about Ralph Hasenhuttl--in recognition of his long service to the club? What aspects of Ralph, the man, will you remember most? What are the best things he did while here at Southampton Football Club?

  18. Yes, their time overlapped in 2015-2016. The next year, Gazzaniga went out on loan before he was sold at the end of that season.
  19. On here it sounds like 'Doo-ay Challeta-Tsar'. Not sar, but tsar, with the t and s combined together. https://forvo.com/word/duje_ćaleta-car/

  22. From The Telegraph: Southampton secure centre-back Duje Ćaleta-Car By Mike McGrath Southampton have won the race for Duje Ćaleta-Car after agreeing a fee with Marseille for the Croatia centre-back. The 25-year-old travelled to London on the morning of transfer deadline day in the hope of a dream move to the Premier League, with West Ham also interested in a deal in case Craig Dawson departed. Jan Bednarek’s move to Aston Villa cleared the path for Southampton to make their move for Ćaleta-Car and a fee has been agreed with the player’s French club. He is set for a medical at Southampton before the formalities of the deal are signed off later tonight. Southampton have also been looking at Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix.
